Code Vein. I made it through the entire game -- The Entire Game -- on pure bayonet fury. And then the final boss was so ass I had to break out a greatsword. I didn't end up beating it with the greatsword, though. No, no, no. I was not ending on that note. I went back to bayonet because by hell or high water I was going to beat everything with my preferred weapon out of spite.

Uh...I want to say...a lot? I actually bought Darkest Dungeon 2 but I haven't even finished the first one. Daggerfall has been in my backlog forever because whenever I try to play it I just get murderised and go "haha maybe later then". Fallout New Vegas I keep falling off for some reason. I have the entire Mass Effect trilogy but I only played half of the first because I realised halfway through that my Commander Shepard looks like my uncle who had a stroke. Monster Hunter Rise. Scorn. Both the Talos Principles. The Witcher 1 and 2. I'll probably never play Hollow Knight, but I have it because I love the world. Frostpunk. Nehrim. Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment keep crashing for me, so I haven't gone back. I should actually sit down and play the Pathfinder games, but none of it is really resonating with me (yet?). I need to actually play Kingdom Come Deliverance.

There are others, but those are the most notable ones in my backlog that I don't have any immediate-ish plans to go back to. Whoops.

I didn't play Skyrim when it came out. No, I had a macbook at the time because my school had a brand deal once that gave us a discount on them and I just didn't switch back to windows because mine hadn't failed yet.

So anyway, there I was in my second or third year of uni -- eating maybe half a meal a day, on antidepressants and sleeping aids, cutting, skipping all my lectures, going out in the middle of the night to wander the forest trail nearby, drinking rather too much vodka just to be able to sit down and write my papers -- when I finally switched back to a laptop that can actually play video games, and there was Skyrim, and there I was friends with Inigo and Rumarin and Anum-La, and then I managed to graduate and get an office job somehow.

That's the period of my life Skyrim reminds me of.

Dragon's Dogma. The series as a whole, yeah, but especially the first one. There's something achingly special about it, a real hiraeth sort of vibe. As a world, it feels so empty yet so full of whatever you put in. Your pawn kind of becomes your everything, plus your friends' pawns if you have any. I need to go back.
