wait im r worded why would i apply a cis lens to berlin era bowie im sorry you are completely correct about lodger. my first fuckass tboy cut in 2018 was based on the side profile from the low album cover and lowk i havent changed the style that much since. also lust for life shag mullet mx pop was a dyke on that cover
SHUT UP I GOT UP FRONT MY BED TO REPPLT TO THIS ON MY LAPTOP
you wouldn't because you're based and godlike and because it doesn't make any sense to take any bowie but especially berlin trilogy into lodger as cis or heterosexual Nor western. it makes sense only if you have no sense of the sublime and the innate. lodger is an album i have centred the majority of my public facing users on for like a real specific reason which is coz it's the most overlooked album of his entire career and because the exploration of a sexual and gender stateless-ness through the lens of a constant traveller, a lodger, a stranger in a strange land with a new career in a new town explicitly ties our perceptions of men and women to our colonised world view. david travelled constantly and sought out new worlds constantly and lodger as an album covers the bases of a myriad of pan african in specific but also elements of middle eastern and japanese artistry into it, blending it with elements found in german krautrock, american funk, and english garage rock to form a record which introduced a totally new subject matter for 1977. and the world at large which is:
maybe the view you have of the world is so torturous to you because you don't consider the whole of the world to be 'earth.' maybe you're trapped in confines white nationalism created thru colonialism. and maybe you'd do well to challenge that.
and Yes. he did mean it like that. i hate this idea of hush hush as if david wasn't aware of what he was doing he and eno stated their goals to be attempting to decentralise the west in their explorations by inviting the world outside the west in to create this separate structure wherein we all eat together. this thought occured me when reading what i can find of john mbiti's 'african religions & philosophy' and through thiongo's 'decolonising the mind.' it ties well also in a baldwin quote i had on my walls for years: "we must not adhere to society's definitions." basically, the central argument is to reclaim and reinstate legitimise african thought, life, philosophy, religions, and cultures outside of the framework or academic colonialism which tells us africa has no concept of 'the right way.' the response being, of course, "why do you get to decide for us what the right way is?" and why do they? should they? well i say pos NO!!! chingados!!!!!! ejole usteded wedos malditos!!!!!!!! NO. let people live their lives. in the same way the colonised history of africa should be questioned we should question as well our view of our roles in a society under colonial capitalistic thought.
lodger is alienating to people because david crosses instrumentation from around the african diaspora as well as upcoming innovations in the west's rock scene with even middle eastern classical tones turned from ornate string to electric guitar. he's purposing that if we just restructured our minds away from the idea that the western world is the only way, we would be able to find truth and spirit and he uses this sound to communicate himself an unfixed point sliding all over the binary, sometimes entire outside of it, thus being an embodiment of abandoning the west to embrace the "other" within himself. that because he is a traveller in the world, he picks things up and he puts them in his bag. one stone from here one stone from there at the end he will have a mountain made of a million stones from all over the world which could nourish you. if that tower of babel fell into you, you would get lodger.
"lodger," david, lodger, as he/it were are signalling implications of masculinity and femininity both in his physical appearance during 1977-1981 he was being himself which is what he said. that he wasn't playing a character. and so we see his world: everyone's. he lives with everyone else on the planet. he was using his natural hair colour and using blush, bronzer, and nude tones to enhance feminine features in billowy clothes and whatnot - because he is just as much she and she is they. we are all rootless, only rooted to ourselves and the world we create for ourselves. and david is rooted in his own world, which is in turn, our world and the whole of the planet. it's a non-binary experience definitionally.
LET US NOT BE NAIVE!!! this a non-binary performance of masculinity through a female lens, in other words this is a trans drag king performance. you'd never want this if you weren't ready to contend with what everything the record entails but ignoring it says a lot about a person . let's not be naive...
sometimes i'm like there's no hope for y'all coz you can't even like black sounding music when it's done by a white guy. like you'll be like wooaahwwhwhhAwh he's appropriating black culture then don't even know 1 black person so you can't even have the convo. like you gotta be able to back up your claims girl you cannot just say shit and use it as an excuse to not do it. young americans is appropriating black culture Name me Right Now the musicians that he's appropriating or ripping off Rifht Now Tell Me. you don't fucken know dawg you don't listen to isaac hayes or miles davis or anyyyything you cannot even telll me where the soundboard is. you just literally see even a white guy doint black shit and are like 😥 isn't this a little ghetto 😥
like yeah we can have that discussion when you stop thinking the beatles are the best band of all time and you can sincerely tell me anything about at least 5 black artists. Then we can talk about that. but y'all won't even listen to Jimi Hendrix so how tf are y'all gonna like even begin to approach a figure like idris muhammad or sly stone you're Not! you can't like get it bcoz you don't actually take black art seriously and i will like make a list or whatever and give reccs but you NEEEEDD to actually listen to them and think about them and Yes!!!!!! lust over that black man!!!!! you need to be Dirtyyyyyy about how hot bootsy collins is. you need to feel that shit in your core dude. you should not be doing this little man

‘Water Spirit’ by Japanese Artist : Tachibana Sayume, 1932
my wife said i can't say no to nobody and at this rate we gonna both die broke
I cannot recommend bringing your heritage and culture into how you view media enough.
It is important to consider the culture of the person who created the piece, absolutely; but the different perspectives offered by the viewers is fascinating in and of itself and does not always detract from the message.
As an example, when I was younger, I watched Schindler's List. This movie is famously shot in black and white except for one section, concerning a little girl in a red coat. The camera follows her until her eventual death.
I am Turtle Island Indigenous and I was always taught that the only color spirits could see was red, because it is the color of life and blood.
So the second the girl in the red jacket came on screen, something inside me chilled with fear.
The only color in the movie was that red. At some point, I, the viewer, had died.
I remember sobbing at the sight of the burning human piles that were shown, convinced I was buried in there somewhere. The reason I had only seen red on the girl was that my death was recent. I was the ash in the air mistaken for snow. I had died before her and had followed her, helplessly, until she followed me.
The message I got for that was maybe not what the creator had intended: that there was no "being clever enough" or "good enough" or "kind enough" that would shield or protect you from such a massive tidal wave of evil.
You are not exempt from tragedy, that red jacket whispered. You are not special.
When I told some of my white friends about my experience with viewing Schindler's List, some were shocked and the rest just out-and-out mocked me for my "media illiteracy".
"it was just a filming trick to make you feel something," I remember one saying, which terrified me. How had he not felt anything even before she showed up?
However, when I repeated my viewing to a college class, they were fascinated. The implications of what I had seen and felt made the film all the more terrifying and solemn. It encouraged a lot of people to try to ask themselves what media meant from a cultural perspective, where they hadn't done that before.
genuinely life is just to die let's hope i manage some sleep i'm like gagging from exhaustion if that's possible
i wish i was anyone so i could construct like a 100 albums you need to hear before you die type thing and actually be able to hear/see people's thoughts and reviews about the list or whatever): i really just long for some type of curated media club
so i made a list and i'm checking it twice :^)

Sosuai Plateau and Mt. Toma 裾合平と当麻岳 by Peter Skov
going to try and take some big leaps today and i wish i could just do so in peace without being woken up so loudly and aggressively extremely early by slams and bangs and aggressive masculinity like even from the confines of my own room where theoretically i'm 'safe' from his the sensory feeling of his constant watch surveillance and monitoring like he has his own silent ways of scaring the fuck outtuv you and i need to be strong and remember that he's going to keep doing these intimidating things the closer i get to independence and making moves for myself and my own the more i succeed at what i need to do, the more he's gonna try to scare me into submission and i cannot let myself fall back into this shit at all he can't have this power over at least me and my brothers future like he cannot have the control to starve and isolate us i have to take back my agency or we are never going to get outtuv this he has ruined our lives and i am not going to let another man have this intense amount of control over me. i'm in so much pain and i'm never gonna have enough money ever so i just have to live with what i've got to deal with and it's important i get my ability to communicate with the outside world back and get our health in check and take up this job i need to remain hopeful that i can do this even if imma have to it alone i can Do This i just cannot let him beat me down mercilessly i've worked too hard. i'm gonna get to heaven coz i've spent my time in hell let me walk before they make me run goddamitttt!!!!!
