Like a stream of silver water running through your veins

you are water and you shall remain water.

She scares you sometimes, her will to forbid change

for she is frightened

but don’t avoid her, never avoid her, because she’s home and warmth,

remember when you told her?

She sat down and sang a lullaby and you regretted every moment you thought about drowning her,

letting the water consume you and be one with you,

letting yourself into her lungs, preventing her from breathing.

You rest your head at her neck, tiny strands of her hair sticking at your face and you are one again

not alone

because she is here.

And if you had her for a moment, she’ll stay, you know she’ll stay.

A key lock in your pocket

a photo in your wallet

where’s she’s smiling

frozen in time, for you to cherish again and again.

And she’ll go away, she always does and always comes back for you
