Spoilers for various povs of session 4
Okay so,
Avid is being really suspicious, right? Not just this session but in general
Many people have rightfully taken notice by this point and have come to a similar conclusion to me, Avid is infected with vampirism, but somehow hasn’t turned… yet.
The poem at the start of the episode, the lore reveal of intentionally seeking out infection, and the name and closing line of episode 4 talking about how he’s “run out of time”. These are all pretty damning, but upon rewatch, reassessment of older content, and viewing of other perspectives I’ve found even more odd details and possible pieces of evidence, which I shall list here:
- Avid seems to be an unreliable narrator, he will leave important conversations out of his pov and conversations he has with people might be different depending on pov. This is also an observed behavior in the story, as he’ll leave out details or fully get them incorrect when recounting events to others
- in his animated intro there is a frame where the bottle that seemingly contained his partner’s blood is spilled and he’s clutching his heart? Throat? Something
- When Martyn asked if Avid had any piercings he said “none that are visible”, and that combined with the GODDAMN NECK BANDAGES he’s had this whole time could be hinting towards a vampire bite
- he built the vampire holding cell in town for himself, which could just be paranoid precaution… but could indicate that Avid knew for a fact that he’s going to turn, possibly even going into a feral state similar to his partner
- in episode 4 when he had his conversation with Shelby he had a lot of raw meat in his inventory for some reason, and I don’t remember him saying he brought it for her
- when Avid was going to acquire the flint and steel to burn Shelby’s house down there was a loud and deep heartbeat sound playing, similar to the sound that plays in Shelby’s episode 3 whenever she started feeling the pull of vampiric instinct
- Cleo describes to others how she feels everything more. All of her emotions have become intensified, and this isn’t just talk. She acts notably different to how she did before in this most recent episode. In the first two episodes especially she was quite stoic and logical (bar one violent rage outburst during the house judging contest). But this episode? She has a couple short anxious episodes, her rage outbursts are more spontaneous and short lived, and most abnormal for her character so far, she’s laughing and joking a lot more. Making fun of people (mainly Pyro), making jokes more often, getting giggly at inappropriate times. She’s acting more like Avid.
- Bouts of anxiety? Joking and laughing at inappropriate moments? Bursts of rage? Add in bouts of melancholy and Avid is almost constantly cycling through these states of being. And we now know this is a symptom of vampirism, one that honestly lines up with some of the other new vampires pretty well too.
- HIS EYES ARE PURPLE!!! Now, this isn’t too abnormal as far as Minecraft skins go, but attention has been called to it a couple times now so I thought I’d mention it.
