Hey and welcome to my tiny guide on how I write the tumblr posts for monthly media and how I then use them to organize and plan the instagram posts.
Maybe you can do most of this on a notepad on your cellphone and just write as the month is happening or you can do this the last days of each month. For me it is easier to write the tumblr post as the month goes through and keeping it on my drafts since I have terrible mid term memory.
For the tumblr post or how your notepad could look
Yap a little about the month, if it was long, quick, filled with work, routinary, etc. Just a couple lines. Sometimes I use a little bit of this for the instagram post for the thanks for being here foreword thingie.
Sometimes a tiny yap about the genre I have been into or if they have something in common.
* A couple thoughts about them.
For the instagram post I just use screenshots of the games. If you have been playing the same game just post new or different screenshots of it (like me finishing FF1 over 7 times in the last 3 months)
Tiny yap about if I saw something interesting, went to the movies, watched home, etc.

* A couple thoughts about them.
* My 5 favorite youtube videos this month
* I just list them off! This is my favorite part by a lot. I do a playlist on youtube every month adding my favorites, and then at the end of it just pick the best ones. I consume a lot of YT, so I just add them to the list whenever one blows my mind a little or I specially enjoyed them.
For the instagram post I google images of either the poster of the movies or screenshots of them. And for the favorite youtube videos I re-open the ones I picked, then go to my history and screenshot the 5 of them in a nice picture.
Mini yap! Again genres or ideas that show up often.
* 1-3 books, I dont read more than that usually
* Thoughts about them, my favorites, the autor or the characters. I read 99% on the kindle app on my ipad so it is easy to screenshot.
* I usually pick em of kindle unlimited. I do buy some but always on kindle, so again taking screenshot for the insta post is easy.
I feel like this is my weakest, I just try to pay attention to what I have been into lately, genres or artists.
* Pick 4 to 6 either albums or artists
* Yap about em a little, take screenshots for the insta posts.
I only do this for tumblr only, might add it to instagram at some point maybe.
* Favorite character: pick any, videogame, movie, book, etc
* A small line about how they make me feel
* Favorite song: there is always one you get obssessed with
* Why you have it on repeat, how it feels
* Favorite flight: I guess only I can do that? Maybe do a favorite workday?
* Yap a little without actually giving much details so you dont accidentaly dox yourself. This one is weird because it is probably the one that less people care about but it helps remind me that even if a month is awful maybe one workday wasnt. I feel like the actually good days are easy to remember short term but sometimes we forget to pay attention when we look back.
Yap a little about how the month treated you and how you hope the next one goes. I use this text to do the foreword of the instagram post too, Idk how many people actually read em but I have been liking looking back at them and actually remembering how things went. Again I have terrible mid term memory haha.
And then just sign out haha
For the instagram posts I do:
-This can be anything, a selfie, an actual picture, etc. Just make the title text consistent if you are planning on doing more so you can make em pop out and give them a little identity
-This first since my profile is about gaming in theory. Just a collage of screenshots in general
-Second since I feel like it is easy to be interested in what people watch
-This is my absolute favorite one and it has made my youtube watching more enjoyable since I am always on the lookout for what to add
-Tbh very little people are here for what I read so it is further along
-Same thought but I feel like it is easier to show visually
*Music I have been listening to
-I love looking at what people listen to, it says a lot about them
-My whole profile and tiktok used to be about pokemon plushies so uploading a plushie at work seems like a fun thing, like a reward for those that stayed and watched all the slides
-This is my foreword thingie, like more written things about what this and next month might probably look like
You can do with or without any of the slides, I feel like for me the most important is gaming and youtube videos. The other ones I keep because I like, not really about if people find them interesting but about sharing a little. You can mix the order depending on what your profile is mainly directed to. Just try not to go over 10 slides since instagram does not love that and honestly the more slides the less attention people pay them.
I use canva for them, just make a file with the instagram post size and then work each image as a small collage and sometimes add some words if I feel like it is worth saying something. I feel like writing more goes against what instagram usually does, but it also can show off more of your personality or why you love the things that you do.
Once I post on insta I do tag the youtube channels instas, the writers if they have one and the manga artists sometimes. I feel like if I was an artist and someone added me to their favorite media thingies it would make me smile. Some youtubers, small writers and manga artists do keep up with their instagrams so I feel like it can be cool.
And yeah, just remember this is not about getting views, selfpromoting or stuff like that, just about sharing your favorites each month or each certaint time and maybe as the year goes back checking up on what you were into a couple months ago :)
