So, I ultimately did discover a way to play FF1 on my 3DS, and I have been enjoying how reliable my Warrior is as I play through the game.
I am currently in the volcano.
I prefer him in red

☁️ Run Log #1 - Healing and a lot of patience
✧ Overview / Rules
I finally went for the full white mage team in Final Fantasy 1. This one felt a little slow for the first half but super rewarding after pushing forward. Final Fantasy 1 is one of my favorite games and playing with only White Mages made me actually take my time on it
I played on the Switch 2, the Pixel Remaster version. I allowed the use of toggling random encounters on/off for this run just to make it swifter
✧ Flow — 3/5
The first half of the game is a little painful since we never have a good way to deal damage. I did have to take 3 big grinds, the first one being 2 hours just to survive the Psicodemons. Both early grinds felt a bit exhausting but once we got the casting items the 3rd grind was super swift and enjoyable
Towards the end the run felt very quick and easy to sustain
✧ Difficulty — 2/5
Honestly, the hardest part was just staying focused during that first grind. Most of the run´s difficulty comes down to patience and not overpushing our advantages
The final fight was amazing to play, Healra is such a good spell and it wasn't to hard to use it to take complete control of the fight
✧ Creativity — 3/5
I love how dependent the white mages are on the casting items. The strategy for grinding and for bosses is quite different but both use the casting items to their fullest
Most longer fights felt less like "how do I win this" and more like "how do I flow with this fight and take control of it"
✧ Pain Factor — 2/5
This run was not harsh at all. It demands patience on the early stages and always understanding on what hits you can take and what hits need buffing to survive. It asks you to slow down for a bit, but rewards you for doing so
✧ Enjoyment — 5/5
I had done this run once a couple years ago and I remembered it being annoying and extremely slow. This time? It felt like i understood the game a little differently. Yes it was slower on the surface but I got a lot of excitement from taking full control of each fight without having to overlevel
Final Time: 8 hours and 14 minutes
Do I recommend this run? Absolutely
Will I replay this run? Not soon but I will definitely do so
My Favorite Moment: I actually did this run at the same time as a full Black Mages one (post about it will be up soon) and the thing that frustrated me a little was how Black Mages could get away with casting Flare and just win the fights
Well for the Fiend rematches I tried applying the same strategy
The four white mages just spammed holy and I saw how our hp slowly went down. Somehow we always had enough health and damage to make it happen. It was just one moment where I turned my brain off and enjoyed the show in front of me
✧ Final Score — 15/25
If you’re curious how different the black mage run feels, I made a video going more in depth
Thanks for reading, if you made it this far
