This is one of the most important bands to me. During the days of them coming up, they had little to no help getting on shows. Mitch and I were inseparable and once he joined the band, I set out to put them on any show I could get them on. I was in Bound In Blood and we had a decent following but were able to get on any hardcore show we wanted (for the most part) at Showcase.
Because Suicide Silence weren’t a death metal band but not hardcore at all, they had fit nowhere in the eyes of Joecase. So Bound In Blood had them play any show we were on if it was possible. We did a bunch of backyard shows together, a barn(?!), but a lot at Showcase when BIB could headline. Once this EP was released, they were hard to deny being thrown on ANY bill. Hardcore or metal.
One night at my house, I told Mitch to sign my poster. He really didn’t want to but I convinced him and told him to “write something sweet.” “Mitch Silence ❤️s Gabe Forever” is what he wrote down and at the time I laughed but today, it means everything.
Mitch’s passing fucking sucked. We had our ups and downs after i was fired from working with them after the “Don’t Call It A Comeback Tour” but before he passed, we had 2 great heartfelt conversations about current friends, bands, our friendship, and overall just how life ended up for each of us and it hurts to know that we won’t ever have those kinds of talks anymore.
I love the SS guys and support everything they do to this day. Good and bad 😂. With all that said, they released a great album on the 14th and it’s a great second comeback for the band. Go check that out... or don’t. Your call!
