#cd collection

SUP GUYS ! today, i'm gonna talk about one of my favorite things: CD COLLECTIONS ! it's a process that takes time and that requires you to be patient (ugh, i know). i've been building mine since may/june last year and it's been going SLOWLY great. building a CD collection (or any type of collection for that matter) isn't buying CDs to show off to tiktok or your friends, but more a way to bring back physical media and have real memories. and let me tell you, i have a handful. so here's how i built mine, there's many ways around this but you should give this on a go.💀

FIRST STEP: DECIDING ON A GENRE

you may see this as a stupid idea but JUST YOU WAIT. focusing on a precise genre of music will make your life a hundred times easier to start a collection. i recommend starting with your favorite first, even if it's not the most popular, trust. it will give you more hype and determination to find what you want. 🎸

SECOND STEP: PICK PICK PICK

this is the most fun part for me ! go through your playlist(s) and look up songs from the same album you have the most. for example, in one of my many playlist, i have five songs from the self titled by rage against the machine, BOOM added it to my list (found it last month for six bucks by the way). make lists if it's easier for you, add them to your library on spotify of whatever. 🎧

THIRD STEP: THRIFT

i'll never say this enough but thrifting is life. people will give away so many bangers that you can find for a very low price. even if you don't find any in thrift shops, GO TO SECOND HAND STORES !! (plus, it's better for the planet you asshole). ALSO another great way to get banger albums, ask people you know that are ALT, you parents, aunts and uncles, or even grand-parents (they all had a "rebellious" phase believe me). vinted works as well ! just check the price beforehand, no CDs on vinted should be bought over ten bucks. 💸

FOURTH STEP: EXTEND

once you have a base for your collection, change genres. if you started with heavy metal (GREAT CHOICE), move to grunge, or rock, whatever it is, BROADEN your horizon people. PLUS you could find ABSOLUTE bangers that you've never heard of in the same genre category in stores. REMEMBER, when building a CD collection, ALWAYS JUDGE AN ALBUM BY ITS COVER. if you think it looks fun, if it's in a genre you like, TAKE IT ! 💿

FIFTH STEP: NEVER STOP

you may think that you're satisfied with what you have at that point, but believe me, we never are. it doesn't matter if you have sixteen, forty or a hundred and twenty-five, it's still a collection (and don't let anyone tell you otherwise), and you should NEVER STOP BUILDING THAT COLLECTION ! it's yours from now on, add your favorite, albums you don't know, albums you think look cool. WHO CARES ? 🖤
