There's myself, Satine, Kote, Quinlan, and Velvet in the central polycule; Quin has been dating Ventress for the last few years, and Kote has been flirting with the armorer for a few months now. Then there's a few other people we sleep with but don't date.

The most essential thing is that we communicate, consistently and openly. My wife knows that I might sleep with a random person in a cantina, but actually bringing them into the group requires a conversation. She has to at least meet them a few times before she'll give the go-ahead and vice versa. These rules apply to everyone in the group, not just us.

Not all poly people have to be in relationships with their partner's partners, either. My wife has almost no physical interest in my boyfriends, but provided them rooms and has befriended both of them. She's well aware I wouldn't be upset if she slept with them, yet she hasn't. As far as she's concerned her kids get two uncles that play with them and help raise them, and she gets to focus on her political career and the rebuilding projects.

I think the biggest piece of advice I'd give newbies to polyamory is this: if you want your metamours to get along, you have to say nice things about each partner in front of the other.

If all I hear are complaints or shitty things that happened - ESPECIALLY if you bring up those issues and not bother to keep me in the loop if/when you work it out with that person - then the only picture I have of my metamour is negative.

Most of the time, I'd say struggling with this is inherently a sign of an unhealthy relationship. It shouldn't be hard to say nice things about the people you love. You SHOULD enjoy having them in your life.

And also, an additional partner is not just an emotional support crutch. You're not doing that relationship justice if all you're doing is unloading all your problems on that person and trying to get away from the stressors elsewhere in your life.

ohh. even knowing it's often a natural process it's always a little sad thinking about extinction. the finality of it.. knowing that there was a lifeform that was unique in its own ways that no one will ever see alive again.

It is. But I'm proud of us for at least memorializing them and keeping them relevant. I've heard it said that you die twice - when you actually die, and when people forget you. Nobody here is forgetting them any time soon, they're a cultural symbol that means a lot to our people and to us. Between the conflicts we've had, we've lost a lot of things - cultures, historical records, damage to the local environment. Some of that is still being repaired, some was lost for good. But we've kept the core of our identity intact.

The mythosaur was a giant reptilian native to Manda'yaim - Mandalore - that went extinct quite some time ago. The locals would fight and hunt them for glory and honor, in the old days. They would also tame them and ride them into battle, or so the stories go. These days the skull is a symbol of Mandalorian honor and belief.

A living one hasn't been seen in a long time, so it's fairly certain they're extinct, though some species have been known to hibernate for years or even decades here.

It was a gift from my wife during our anniversary, it has the mythosaur skull engraved into it. It's the emblem of our people. I believe the gemstone is a fire opal or something similar, she said it was fitting and I agree.

one thing i want to make clear about lumis - since i saw a rancid take in the sith tag and it's on my mind - is that he's not a banite sith. he's a revanite sith, and i have a lot of concepts about this, but the post i'm referring to called all the sith 'space fascists'. this isn't necessarily true. pre-movie timeline, the sith used to be a very diverse religious faction. a cult, in some sects, but others had families and were more balanced. banite sith are the ones obsessed with power and domination and wrath. revanite sith are highly varied depending on how you play and characterize revan; in my concept, the revanites were, above all else, dedicated to balance.

they're the continuation - or attempted continuation - of bendu, the concept of balance in the force. ashla is the light side, bogan is the dark, bendu is the space between. it's a very yin-yang kind of a concept, and lumis, as a revanite, believes in balance. revan was a jedi and then a sith and then a jedi again and, depending on how you play him, either fell to the dark side again or stayed in the light. revan's a very layered character. i should also note that the tertiary concepts and content that disney is trying to erase from star wars canon applies here, like KOTOR.

calling them all 'space fascists' is like calling all christians conservatives - there are different christian sects with differing beliefs and practices, so the generalization doesn't apply to all of them. lumis is, simply put, trying to revitalize an ancient sith practice that died when bane and the jedi wiped out most of the sith sects a thousand years prior. he's been studying the revanites for ten years now and he's slowly establishing his own branch and school of thought. this is also why he allowed the jedi to continue functioning as an order, albeit with the caveat that they can't just, you know, manipulate families into giving them their kids, considering he also follows mandalorian beliefs. he swore the resol'nare; he's a mandalorian revanite sith lord. this is getting longer than intended but i just wanted to clarify some of my characterization for him.

The urge to burn down a rebel base to prove a point is strong, but my advisors have unfortunately reminded me that would ruin PR at this point, so I'm refraining for now. Should they not get the memo, however, I may just have to remind them they're not welcome here.
