I was on the phone with my parents and forgot a word so I was like “the disease- what’s it called these days- it’s consumption, the one where victorian ladies coughed blood onto handerchiefs–“ and then my dad started laughing and was like “tuberculosis, but I love that you remembered ‘consumption’ first”
I am once again a parody of myself
To Be Fair- I think the disease was known as “Consumption” for longer than it has been known as “Tuberculosis” so you’re in the Majority on this one.
I only remember it as Tuberculosis first because I test positive for it despite never having it so I had to go in for a series of Chest X-Rays to go to college and on some overseas trips and every single time the tech would go “UHHH- lemmegethedoctorrealfast.” and then some grave-looking radiologist would come in and Gently Ask if I knew I broke some of my ribs and then I go “OH RIGHT yea i had whooping cough in seventh grade those S-curved ribs are pretty funky aren’t they?” exept for the last time when the radiologist came in and said the single best sentence I’ve ever heard out of a Doctor
“I’m writing you a perscription to Never Wear Bras Again.”
