i dont want to be in a fandom that critisizes the choices of fictional characters like they are human beings. i want to see THEORY and ANALYSIS and STORY STRUCTURE and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!! I WANT PARALLELS AND MOTIFS AND VISUAL CUES!!! They're not REAL they are TOOLS so stop acting like they are people who made bad choices and should be punished. of course they made bad choices!!! that shit is funny and cool to watch!!
tears streaming down my face shes an INFANT

bruce finding out that jason is still a crybaby 🥹 jason act tough but if you push him a bit more in a personal arguments he'd start spilling fat tears down his cheeks and now you have an armful of sad boy in your arms. bruce forgot this fact every single time they fight.
happy father's day to bruce who needs to navigate through the many many emotions of his kids 😭 this is what you get for adopting a gaggle of children
Crybaby Jason supremacy!!! He's so sensitive in ALL aspects, including but not reduced to anger.

Bruce and Alfred are the only ones that can tell when there's genuine hostility between the kids.
Imagine this, the justice league meet at the manor, as friends, everything is sitting at the table and they start to hear yelling in he other room. Tim and Damian barge in, fully fighting.
Kick, screams, insults a broken vase, something is thrown around. And then Tim chases Damian out of the room.
Everyone looks at Bruce, expecting him to go intervene or something. Bruce is unfazed, still sipping on his coffee. "They're just playing." He murmurs.
Then Jason walks in, completely chill, takes some food, and sits in one of the couches. Then Cass walks in, with a bruise in her face.
"Bad night at patrol?" Jason asks.
And Cass stares at him.
Bruce is automatically up and between them, Cass walks away with a huff and Bruce starts scolding Jason for "instigating" her.
The league is just confused as hell.
Didn’t want to spoil anything before the free release so I can finally post this now
Don’t usually post about batlantern much but this cracked me up, I see you Bruce
Green Lantern (2023) #19
I'm a Batlantern shipper to my core, but I hate when in fanfictions with this pairing I see the "Hal Jordan would be terrified of the Batkids, they would scare him so bad ahaha" trope.
Scared? Hal Jordan? Hal "middle child of three boys raised by a single mother" Jordan? The man that has such a difficult relationship with his family that he has been blamed for the death of his mother by his older brother? That has been having screaming matches with his siblings so loud they could destroy walls? And that's all without mentioning the Green Lantern gig and all that came with it. Yeah no, Hal will not be intimidated by emo kids with daddy issues.
He will not "try to impress them" and convince them that he's good for their father. He's stepping into the manor, looking them in the eye one by one and going: "supper time spanky".
He's the dad that stepped up, but also, he will be unhinged. A kid goes to him saying "he called me an asshole!" and he responds with "So? tell him that at least your asshole isn't in constant danger of carrying an STD because of irresponsible use".
He will buy everyone food if they are hungry, but he'll also fight ferociously for the last pizza slice in the box. He's not above biting either.
Two of the kids are fighting? he offers himself as referee so they don't end up killing eachother and lets them fight it out, Jessica Jordan style.
He doesn't mind being stalked, he has nothing to hide. But also, he likes to use the ring to become invisible and then slowly float behind whoever is following him and whisper "booo" in their ears. He has made more than one batkid jump from a ledge with that one.
He's also not above using his green lantern powers on them, the kids will be put in air jail if the situation calls for it.
Also, he has a thick as fuck skin when it comes to cruelty. He has heard so many degrading things coming his way, for his life decisions, for his queerness, for the mistakes he has made and the lives he has let slip between his fingers, he can take anything. Let the kids throw their very worst at him and see how he tanks it, stares at them till they are hollowed out of their anger and then go "did it help? screaming it out? does it make you feel better, hurting someone else just like you hurt? Did inflicting pain on someone else suddenly made yours go away?". Argument ended instantly.
The Batkids would learn to both love him and fear him in equal measure.

Batfamily basic reading list
I have noticed (and experienced myself) how overwhelming it actually is to start reading comics as a bat family fan, since we all basically know the main events but not in which comic did each happen.
Here's my (in progress) Bat family reading list. I have ONLY included comics I have read, but its pretty complete up to the point I have reached. Each with a short description of what it is about so you can find the events you're interested in.
Fundamentals (important character's main plot points):
Batman: year one
-Start of Batman and showcase of his main motives.
-Mainly a James Gordon story.
Batman: The Man Who Laughs
-Joker's first appearance.
Batman: The Long Halloween
- Two-face origin story, good insight on Catwoman and generally good Batman story.
Batman: Dark Victory
-Direct continuation of the long halloween
-Dick Grayson's origin story
Robin: Year One
-First moments of Dick as Robin.
(Dick's age is different from what is said in most comics.)
Batgirl: Year One
-Barbara Gordon's Batgirl origin.
Batman: Son of the demon
-Good display of Bruce's and Talia's relationship.
-Damian's conception.
Nightwing: Year one
-Dick stops being Robin and goes solo as nightwing
(Jason appears here, his introduction is kinda weird and not for everyone)
Batman: second chances (Batman (1940) #401, #402, #408-#416 y Batman: anual #11)
-The way Dick leaving robin was originally portrayed
-Jason's introduction and start as Robin
Oracle: Year one
-Oracle's origin
(some people would say you need to read the killing joke first, but really all you need to know is she is shot and paralyzed) (the killing joke is kinda disgusting)
Batman: A death in the family
-Jason's death and its direct aftermath
Batman: A lonely place of Dying
-Tim's introduction and start as Robin
Detective comics #618-#621
-Tim's mother's death
-Tim's father is paralyzed
Batman: knightfall
-Bane's first appearance
-Bruce's back is broken
Batman: knightquest
-direct continuation of Knightfall
-Jean Paul Valley takes over Batman as Bruce heals
Batman: Knightsend
-Direct continuation of Knightquest
-Dispute between Jean Paul Valley and Bruce for the Batman mantle
Batman: Prodigal
-Direct continuation of Knightsend
-Dick Grayson takes the Batman mantle temporaryly
(in progress, will be edited as I read more)
Other recomendations:
Bruce Wayne:
Batman: Zero Year
-Riddler as main villain story
-Slightly off temporarily
-Duke Thomas appearance, as a 7 year old
Batman: Night Cries
-Good story of Batman's relationship and views of victims (TW: CSA as a main topic)
Batman: ego
-Bruce wayne mental introspection, focusing on his relationship with Batman
Dick Grayson:
Batman and Robin: Year one (2024)
-Modern retelling of Dick's early years as Robin
-Lighthearted
Robin and Batman: Year one (2021)
-Other modern retelling of Dick's early years as Robin
-Darker tone
Tim Drake:
Robin miniseries (1993)
-Tim's period of training around the world before being Robin oficially
Batman (1940) #480
-Interesting introspection of Tim's relationship with his father
I have been in Ao3 for a fair amount of years, so I understand most codes and tags, but I still can't figure out if "ban single use plastic" is a code for anything or is actually protesting about single use plastic.
I don't like JayRoy. I think the age gap would not work at all, and I've heard Roy fans say Roy was wholely mischaracterized to fit Jason.
But I do think it's funny to think little Robin Jay had a huge crush on Roy, and Dick absolutely noticed, and absolutely made his life hell because of it.
one must imagine Jason Todd happy
Reminder that the last time Dick and Alfred saw each other, it was during the Ric Grayson era and Dick didn't recognize him.
Nightwing (2016) #75
And holy shit that's painful.

I find the theory that this comment from Bruce in battle for the cowl (I know, I know, terrible Jason characterization, but just hear me out on this one? in his message for Jason is about Jason having been trafficked (mainly because of all of his other history when treating with sexual violence + his VERY weird conversation with Mia Dearden) very interesting.
First of all, because it would add a whole other layer to Bruce being mad at Jason during his robin years when he got violent against those types of criminals. Also him having assumed Jason pushed Garzonas off the rooftop is BRUTAL if it's influenced by Jason's own trauma.
But also something I barely see people talk about it's that it's referred to as a secret. A secret that Bruce and Alfred kept, something that they decided to ignore instead of working through. How did it end up that way? Was it Jason not wanting to talk? Was it Bruce and Alfred assuming he didn't want to talk? Was it them not knowing how to get him to open up? Did they let this piece of his past just fossilize as something taboo that can't be named not even by someone as vocal of his feelings as Jason? Something that can only be referred to as "his secret"?
There is so much potential here for exploring how Bruce's lack of communication skills can end up affecting his kid's own abilities to talk about their problems.
(although I'm not sure if I'd trust DC to handle something like this well, considering past iterations of SA, so it will all have to stay in speculation)
I hc that the batkids in their respective superhero teams are always that one mandatory friend that is the victim of the "I wanna f#ck your mom (dad)" joke. And not talking about Bruce wayne, talking about Batman. Cowl on, growly voice scary Batman.
