like i feel insane. why do so few people notice this disparity? so many black transfems have fled, deactivated, or been terminated. the few who are left are usually getting targeted by harassment campaigns, denied autonomy, treated as mere scapegoats, and are often forced to stay in this murderously hostile environment for mutual aid reasons. why do we not notice this more???
I have a lot to say on this tbh but more than anything I want to say that as a Black doll who’s been active on a lot of social media sites, theres a lot of transfemmes of color, especially Black transfemmes, who got banned or deactivated or just stopped logging onto a site before I could get other contact info for them, who I now just sit here wondering if they’re still alive or not. I’ve tried looking for some of them on other platforms and rarely do I find them.

Ergo it is your responsibility to communicate your needs and boundaries
If you lie to someone about something being okay when it isn't, that is on you
Something being a trauma response doesn't exempt it from harming your relationships and the other people in them
Enabling your trauma responses will not make them go away, and it is your responsibility to work on yourself for your own wellbeing as well as the people around you
Being A Victim cannot be a pillar of your identity forever, and being victimized does not make you incapable of harming other people (see above)
You are not a mouse in a jean jacket you are an eel with a gun / adult human being who can use your words even if it's Scary
Having a personality disorder doesn't make you evil but you have got to get off of Personality Disorder Tumblr (see above, re: enabling)
Deep sigh. You want me to ~be compassionate~ here's the compassionate answer: your trauma will tell you you're a helpless child forever and you need to Not Think This Way for yourself (living under the assumption you're still in danger whether you actually are or not) and everyone else who has to tiptoe around your Sensitivity. That's how you break the cycle and you can only do this by accepting responsibility for your actions. And it seems like a small semantic thing but imo step one is calling yourself a survivor instead of a victim. Self identifying with your victimhood helps No One. You lived, now get up
Hypervigilance is a heightened awareness of your surroundings. It's a common symptom of PTSD, as well as a few other conditions.
If you experience hypervigilance, then you might feel like you're always on edge, easily startled, oversensitive to danger, or unable to relax and feel safe. You might notice that your body reaches for a fight-or-flight response much more quickly than other people or takes longer to calm down. Some people describe hypervigilance as being stuck in a fight-or-flight response even when their surroundings are safe and familiar.
Examples
One of the more commonly given examples of hypervigilance is discomfort with sitting with your back to a room, turning off the lights, or otherwise being physically vulnerable even when you rationally know that there's no danger. Hypervigilance isn't just about the physical environment, though- it can also affect your social environment and internal experiences.
You might find that you constantly monitor the thoughts and feelings of everyone around you, or that you can't emotionally tolerate conflict and disagreement. People might see you as unpredictable or sensitive because you react very strongly to small things. Criticism might feel like an attack even if you asked for the critique.
Small, passing comments might feel like they imply something that the person never actually said (E.G. someone says, "nice sweater," and you get stuck wondering if they mean that they hated the shirt you wore yesterday). You might feel that other people have to be kept happy at all times or else something terrible might happen. People pleasing, reassurance seeking, or controlling behavior might feel like your only options to stay safe socially.
On the other hand, you might feel unable to trust others, or you might push people away because the presence of someone else feels unsafe. You might constantly watch for signs that someone is going to hurt or leave you, then act on those signs even if the person hasn't actually done anything to you. It's also possible that you might decide not to care about anything or anyone so that nothing can hurt you.
Some people feel stuck constantly thinking of everything that could possibly go wrong and how they'd respond to it, and they might interpret small misfortunes as signs that everything is about to fall apart. Small body signals that most people ignore could be interpreted as signs of danger or illness. A person might try very hard to avoid all thoughts and feelings that cause discomfort even if doing so hurts them- even moreso if those things are related to a past trauma.
Hypervigilance can be exhausting. You're aware of so many things all the time, trying to juggle them all, and human bodies aren't made to do that 24/7. A lot of people wind up feeling tired, angry, depressed, or upset because they can't relax. It can make it hard to sleep or focus.
Our Experience
Personally, hypervigilance feels like ambient terror or uncomfortable physical alertness that doesn't have a clear cause or resolution. It's just there, constantly, like our brain taped down its alarm button. I usually describe it as "you know when you lean back in a chair and almost fall over, and you get that bolt of fear? That, but it doesn't stop."
It also shows up as difficulty trusting people and situations. In the past, I often got stuck in loops of trying to "fix" people because letting them be responsible for themselves felt unsafe, which did a lot of damage to everyone involved. Other people here were stuck pushing friends away, hurting themselves to try to calm down, or choosing not to have any friends in the first place. It didn't make the fear go away, but we didn't know what else we could do.
Hypervigilance doesn't have to be a permanent state of being, and it can be unlearned by learning coping skills that allow you to feel your emotions without being overwhelmed, then gently exposing yourself to discomfort or (perceived) risk and learning to tolerate it better.

Red, who is surrounded by warning symbols and looks annoyed: "What the hell, man, this sucks! I'm not even anxious, why the fuck is our body on alert? We're fine!"
Echo, popping in: "That'll be the hypervigilance. From the PTSD. You know, the 'my body is on alert for danger even when it's safe' symptom. Did you not notice it before?"
Red, now infuriated and throwing her hands in front of her: "No! I was too fucking pissed off to be unsettled!"
Blue: "Want me to take over?"
Red: "Please!"
Blue: "Yay :3"
Blue switches in abruptly, looking fairly happy. The warning symbols in the background are still there, but dimmer. Echo walks out of the panel.
Red, throwing her hands up in frustration: "Why do you get to be relaxed?!"
Blue: "I'm not, I'm just ignoring the horrors :3"
Red: "What."
Blue, starting to sweat: "If I stay busy with fun stuff, then I don't get sucked into feeling bad, and then it's okay."
Red, concerned: "Are you… okay? Is that why you're like this all the time? I thought you were just being annoying on purpose."
Gwen, smiling and poking her head in from the side of the panel: "Wow, rude."
Blue: "As long as I have stuff to do, I'm fine, yeah!"
Red: "Are we all just trying to avoid our own body freaking out all the time? Fuck."
Echo, peeking back in: "Sounds familiar."
i would really like it if ciswomen momentarily subjected to transmisogyny would say anything other than "i was born female" as a way to deflect. it just screams "this shouldn't happen to me, im not your main target".
try thinking for five seconds about trans women who cannot use that same deflection when they deal with the exact same shit 24/7
lady gaga was the baseline for what an ally should be. if confronted with accusation of being trans, your default response should be "okay? so what? is that such a big deal".
saying "im actually a real biological vagina having female, and you're so stupid" is not stopping transmisogyny. its in fact contributing more to it. its enforcing the divide between ciswomen and trans women. its making the world unsafe for us. and it's making it so that the next time any woman gets accused of being trans, its gonna be worse for her because of the rise in transmisogyny you are inadvertently contributing to.

hey guysss so unfortunately the rumors are true and im leaving the narrative. Buttt the good news is my absence will create such a gaping hole in your lives that it will become a sort of presence itself, and so in a way it will kind of be like i never left! But i am. Leaving just to be clear.
Just so we’re clear, if I point out that you did something racist, that’s not the same as me thinking you’re irremediably terrible. You did a racist thing.
You think you don’t do racist things, homophobic things, etc? You do. I caught myself in fat phobic and homophobic lines of thinking/speech just this morning. I’m fucking gay married. Nothing disqualifies you from acting in a way that reflects the society you exist in. We are obliged to fight it. Why not fight it in honesty and with camaraderie?
I saw that Project Hail Mary movie all over my fyp a few days ago and now I'm hearing that the author of the book says his books are non political and all the clips I've seen is the movie filled with American flags and nasa logos..... just a reminder that nasa works with the U.S army to create weapons and those same weapons are being used to kill Iranians
I feel it should be said how damaging it is to brush off any type of trauma as "not enough."
There's a popular post about how a person who drowned in 6ft of water is just as dead as someome who drowned in 200ft of water. This is true.
But also you can drown in as little as half a cup of water.
And I think this comes from a deep misunderstanding of how DID forms, what counts as "bad enough" trauma to form a system. I myself have had to unwind whether what I've said I've gone through is real, due to how conflated the idea of trauma is in some people's heads.
A child is not as developed as an adult or a teen. What a child views as "too much" for them to cope with or "no support system" to talk to may be completely different to what an adult thinks. The adult may even think that the child is logically incorrect about these things—but that does not change the response the child has.
This is not an excuse to tell people they should go digging for trauma or to tell them unprompted that what they went through is 100% traumatic. I just wanted to make sure anyone who thinks they could have DID / PSTD / OSDD / C-PTSD (or similar) doesn't brush off things that as an adult they think "weren't so bad."
if a trans woman's rapist makes the easy and common move of trying to isolate her from her support network by accusing her of being the one who raped them, you have to not be a useful idiot for her abuser to use as a tool
you can't always rely on "believe survivors" as a buzzphrase, because it's an extremely common abuse tactic to try to obscure the truth of who is actually the survivor and who is the perpetrator. this is especially easy to do against marginalized groups that people are already primed to imagine as violent. you have to first collect enough information to know who is actually the survivor in order to actually believe the survivor and not their abuser
a lot has been written about how nobody would ever falsify an accusation of rape, and like, I get why. accusations against white men are rarely believed or taken seriously. people often treat those who come forward about white men's actions like shit. people largely do not give a shit about survivors and they do not take sexual assault seriously. against a white man there truly is rarely anything to gain by coming forward, let alone fabricating an accusation
this is not true, however, about demographics you are socially and systemically incentivized to whip. demographics who have been routinely scapegoated by media and government. the reason an accusation against a trans woman is widely believed and taken seriously is not because people spontaneously start caring about survivors if the accused is a trans woman. the reason is literally just bigotry
whipping the whipping girl is what you're already incentivized to do. an accusation provides permission to whip as hard as you like. a trans woman's rapist will happily hand you the whip. you have to ensure you are not being recruited as an accomplice in their abuse

I've been thinking a lot lately about how many trans women I've known who come to realize over time that they experience much more bottom dysphoria than they've consciously understood
I think this is partially a problem of trans women being fetishized, a trans woman's value being equated with her penis, but I think it's also partially a problem of availability. personally if something is difficult to attain then I have an internal reflex to unconsciously convince myself I don't want or need it. for this reason and many others it needs to be made easier
personally it's fucking crazy going through life not even being able to be naked around trusted loved ones or fully have sex because the dysphoria is so bad. it's unacceptable that so many of us have to live like this. it's horrible that for many trans women it's almost impossible to get the care we need. it does not have to be like this
maybe the cold and squirming thing from beyond the stars isn't in the mood for tentacle rape this evening. maybe it'd like to bottom for a change. have you considered that
returning to this brilliant post bc ive been getting really into centaurs lately for normal reasons and im really noticing that this is a trend there too. presumably this pervades in many terato spaces but im not extraordinarily active in many of those. anyway it’s already exhausting lol, it really hit me when i saw a random post that was like “centaur gf” and one of the things was “big spoon obviously” and it reallyyyy made me pause and go holdddd on lol. obviously centaurs are pregnant with metaphor but omfg maybe the huge horse girl wants to be cuddled too bitch. it happens with werewolves too and it’s just so obvious. why would a girl with a wolfcock exist if not to breed. why would a girl with a horsecock exist. and like, god, the most frustrating thing abt this is is that i know it probably seems ridiculous from the point of anyone who’s not a trans girl lol.
tl:dr; if you have a tentacle monster gf, or a centaur gf or a werewolf gf, you better be doing crazy shit to her prostate. and hold her. and get her flowers. you all treat any remotely monstrous woman as a phallus and it’s annoying!! come up with something else!
im tired of it being seen as immoral to find the two/overlapping people from those groups attractive or desirable in a sexual way. I'll be honest, most people who try to advocate for disability or fat lib have been ableist or fatphobic in this instance and it's quite astonishing to see this happen.
how performative justice turns into reactionary disgust.
So the UK will reroute a fucking Internet cable for a fake grave for a fake elf because a bunch of brain dead nerds through a pissy fit, and meanwhile real actual natives in the US are getting arrested for trying to keep oil sand pipelines from going through their actual graves, holy sites and unceded territory. Burn it all down.

Driving is really really scary though. Like everyone is garunteed to get into at least one car accident in their life. Isn't it kinda fucked to base your transportation system on something so dangerous that everyone is practically destined to either die or almost die from it?
even tho I posted this early: thank you for liking my art. with these specific pieces I put so much effort into them and I like people leaving nice things in my notes because it makes me happy. I do read them. thank u.
