a kingdom or this?

Funny that you ask this because I was literally just talking about this with a friend the other day! I don’t know if this counts as unpopular, so I apologize if it doesn’t but I was truly disappointed in the lack of depth in Alex’s character in the movie.

And when I say that, I OBVIOUSLY don’t mean Taylor’s performance (which I’m sure you know, but some people may need the clarification 😆).

Not having his ADHD representation, his anxiety, the divorce, or hell — even his journey coming to terms with his bisexuality — it all just felt lacking.

It was a silly, cute romcom and I will love it always for that. But the movie versions of both Henry and Alex feel like very different characters compared to their book counterparts.

I do feel like whenever we get Henry’s POV, we see a slightly deeper side of his internal struggles. Alex just didn’t have that same depth to play into other than when he has that moment with Henry talking about growing up as a half Mexican man.
