Ok so this armor bears heavy resemblance to german gothic armor from the 15th -16th century

the knees and elbows can bend because of a special piece called the couter (elbow part) and poleyn (knee part). These parts are given room in the proper spots to allow for bending of the joints while still providing protection. It appears this armor does have the poleyns and couters in place and tho it is hard to see, the plate covering the arms does have a gap for the couter to allow bending.

as for the pauldrons (shoulder parts) it bears resemblance to the milanese/italian style of armor with its large pauldrons. The pauldron on the left image is used for jousting so flexibility is not neccessary for the arm that holds the reins.

Also there is historical precedence for pauldrons of this size and configuarion, such as Henry the 8th’s foot combat armor and other examples from that time. I believe that much like the pauldrons on this example photo, the pauldrons in the artwork might be segmented to allow for a better range of mention and might also not have as much coverage on the back to allow for the arms to bend forward.

Of course with armor you do trade a tiny bit of flexibility for protection but you’d be surprised how manuevarble knight in full armor can be.

Now beyond the practicality of this design I find it absolutely gorgeous and a perfect blend of fantasy and realism. Love the design’s sort of “draconic” look that pays homage to Guts’ Berserker armor

I just listed everything I made for my first convention table on my Etsy store. Stickers and prints available of many of my inktober entries!! These are scans of my traditional inkwork printed in high quality luster paper and both vinyl and laminated sticker paper.
