So this is the last Tumblr Tuesday post I will ever have to do and I couldn’t be happier. I am so ready for the vacation!

For our website we have to keep in mind, how will we employ ethos, pathos, and logos throughout and also when we design it. Here is a little reminder. Check It out!

Homepage/About me: I will employ Ethos as a writer in this respective section by, making sure that when I introduce myself everything is factual and up-to-date and that throughout my website my grammar and punctuation is correct. I will also ensure that I am credible for the information I will be providing about myself.

 Assignment Reflections: For this section I will employ ethos by, using my previous assignments as resources to ensure that the information I’m providing is factually correct.

Reading Reflections: For the last section I will employ ethos by, using the e-book as a credible source, to summarize the readings we have explored and discussed.

Homepage/About me: I will employ Pathos as a writer in this respective section by, using an appropriate photo of myself to show credibility and imply that this is my website. I will also make sure I use the appropriate colors, sizes, and styles of font on my homepage so that it is legible for my audience.

Assignment Reflections: For this section I will employ Pathos by, showing a sense of value on all the assignments I have accomplished that way my message has an emotional impact. I will also make sure that I use colors that are simple and not too much.

Reading Reflections: For the last section I will employ Pathos by, using emotional language to discuss how the readings met my expectations and how they were beneficial to the assignments we completed.

Homepage/About me: I will employ logos as a writer in this respective section by, providing a layout that is organized and not all over the place. Seeing those two websites helped me realize what a good website looks likes and how a bad one looks. Therefore, I will use Aarons website as an example.

Assignment Reflections: For this section I will employ logos by, providing evidence from my assignments to make my message clear. I will also make sure that this page is legible and organized for my audience.

Reading Reflections: For the last section I will employ logos by, using facts, statistics, and examples from the e-book to convey my message and show how the readings will be beneficial as I continue to develop as a writer.

Now that I am a designer, I will use ethos, pathos, and logos throughout my website.

Ethos: I will make sure that my grammar and punctuation is all correct and I will ensure that I use credible sources for all my pages in my website.

Pathos: I will ensure that the layout of my website is simple and not to colorful because as a Rhetoric writer that is not professional. I will also make sure that I use motivational appeals and emotional language for my audience.

Logos: In my website I will make sure that I use factual information, examples and quotes to convey my message. I will also make sure my website is organized and looks nice.

BOOM! I am finished with my LAST tumblr. I can finally be relieved from stress every Tuesday! Whooo Hooo!!

I really liked how you explained the process very clearly, it made me want to follow some of your steps so I can improve my own website! Your gifs are also so entertaining which made me just enjoy reading your post even more. I have no doubt your website will come out really great, I cant wait to visit it myself.

SECTION A: DESIGN PRINCIPLES APPLIED?

I will analyze the following website first http://trendlines.ca/.

QUESTIONS FOR ANALYSIS:

1. Identify and describe the balance of the site. This website has an off balance between the images and the text. As you can notice above the the graph takes the majority of the space on the page, yet the text in the graph is still small which is equal to the text from the rest of the website. The website focuses on graphs, however, I think that the information about signing up for a membership or the simple details explaining the main idea of the webpage itself should be clear, bigger and should stand out. The reader must not go looking for anything, the creator must make sure he keeps the viewers attention and explains everything clearly and briefly.

2. How is contrast employed on the site? From my point of view the body text seems to use the same text font as the title text. The body text is bold and the title text is bigger , but not in bold. However, I do think all the text overall even the bigger text is still quite small. I do not know what to read first and it makes it all a bit overwhelming.

3. Evaluate the site’s use of consistency. The contingency in this page would be the text font all over the website. It is almost the same text with the same size.

4. Describe the site’s utilization of alignment and grouping. Alignment and grouping comes hand in hand. The page seems more of a horizontal webpage rather than vertical. And the text is located on your right side and the graphs on your left, the heading statements on top of the page and all these three items represent grouping.

5. Based on your analysis of the site in terms of the principles of design, describe the effectiveness of the site.

I believe this is an effective website for individuals who are very much familiar with graphs and statistics since the website is mainly a membership that you sign up for to have access to all the numbers. The one shown above is the gas pump.

I will now analyze the second website which is, http://www.aaronxmarquez.com/

QUESTIONS FOR ANALYSIS:

1. Identify and describe the balance of the site. This website is very clear and balanced out. The weight between the images and text are well balanced. The images don’t make the viewer ignore the text and the text is very clear to read. This portion is perfect!! ( the colors as well are great, they do not overwhelm me or bore me)

2. How is contrast employed on the site? The font size is different as it should be. The titles and subheadings are bigger than the body text. They carry the same text font which doesn’t throw the website off in anyway. It is very clear and you can easily tell what it is that you will be reading.

3. Evaluate the site’s use of consistency. I would definitely say all elements resemble each other.like I mentioned before the text may be in different size but the font is the same and the spacing is the same. Length wise is very similar throughout all the body text and all the tab text is the same. All the text added in this website was very well done.

4. Describe the site’s utilization of alignment and grouping. The website designer definitely has some background knowledge on what it is the people look for. He grouped his work in topics and eat section had is title or subheading, and image, and text. All this didn’t mix up anything though, it was clear and very nice to follow along. He also mixed and matched the alignment through this website and it looks great!

5. Based on your analysis of the site in terms of the principles of design, describe the effectiveness of the site.

I am confident that this website is very effective. It met all the criteria and was not missing anything. I think it is a great website! And although it had a lot going on I didn’t feel overwhelmed and still got a professional feel from the website.

SECTION B: IMPLICATIONS FOR YOUR OWN DESIGN:

1. What will you have to do to ensure that your website is balanced? I will make sure I choose pictures very carefully. I now know that most of the websites page should be located on my right side. Colors also have to do a lot with the presentation of my work so if I am unsure of the balance I will choose white and black, those colors are very balanced by themselves. I will try and go back to my old website from RWS1301 since we focused on it all semester and I may get ideas from it. My book also mentions to be very careful with irregular shapes, big shapes and texts, those weight more than their opposite.

2. How will you use contrast on your website? My book mentions that if I make the material distinct from each other throughout the website my work will be more clear to the reader. This includes highlighting, background colors and the font sizes. I will definitely keep this in mind.

3. Where will you employ consistency on your website? Consistency is a must throughout my text. From headings, to subheadings and to body text. This section of the book reminded me of APA formatting. Consistency means having an easy to read website without overwhelming anybody. The text on headings should b different in size than the body text. The pages should resemble each other no matter how many there are, if I add a list the bullet points should be almost or the same, and the text font should appear professional. I will definitely do all this on my website!!!

4. How can you use alignment and grouping to make your website more effective? I will use alignment and grouping effectively throughout my website. I will choose between vertical or horizontal alignment and my book mentions which is is best for the reading. It also mentions that pictures are usually added when white is around, it also mentions to use headings and add a border. Will do!

5. What colors will you use for your website? Why? I will definitely go with a Shades of white and black for my background so I can have space for any added images. It will make it clear and not overwhelming. The website will look very clean too!! The font will definitely be black for a professional look.

6. How else can you ensure that your website is well-designed?

I will ensure it will be a good website by following the guidelines and tips mentioned in the RWS book, I can also go back and look at these two websites to ensure and remind myself what is a good example and what is not a good example, and finally get feedback from my peers and professor if possible. I am confident about the outcome of my website!!

a. What days and times will you commit to the project?

My Team(G.A.S.S) and I are committing the project on Fridays @ 1 p.m. in the library ( 3rd floor and get a little room) and Sunday  evening we meet online using Gmail.com where we can all collaborate on the same document at once.

b. What days/times are you working as a group and when will you work alone?

So my team and I decided things would run smoothly if we did mostly everything together when we meet up on Fridays. I will be working alone only on my section (there are four, hence G.A.S.S) which is social work. Aside from that we made an agreement that we must all be together in meetings in order for our documentary to run smoothly.

c. Specifically, what aspect of the project will you address on each of those days?

On our first meeting we all brought ideas and talked it through to see how we could use everybody’s ideas in some way or another. We tackled bit of each requirement and as the meetings continue to go by we make each slide stronger and stronger. We will continue to review everything in the hour that we meet in order to make sure we will not miss anything on the checklist!

d. Specifically, what will you do to complete those aspects of the project?

I will revise my interview video and cut a clip that best fits our documentary. I will make sure it all makes sense and get other opinions so we can improve it. In order to complete every aspect we must focus and get stuff done. Review all the requirements, make it better each and every meeting , but most importantly make it know that we are all fighting for something regardless of our different majors, and that is EQUALITY amongst race.

e. What specific aspects of the assignment are you most concerned about? What can you do to address those concerns?

I am most concerned about our different majors. Although we realized it can and will work out it makes me nervous that maybe we wont be able to express ourselves and our sense wont see the actual meaning we are trying to portray. I will push and push too get opinions and critiques on what we should change to get a great response from our final audience and professor. My other concern is our advocacy we need to make it stronger but I feel once we keep going over our slides it will be more clear on what we are rooting for.

f. What specific aspects of the assignment are you most comfortable with? Why?

I am most comfortable with the section of social work and that is only because that is the topic I have been focusing during most of the semester. I am not an expert on graphic design, anthropology and  education but I trust that my peers will allow me to see their confidence through their work. I am also very comftrable with all the statistics that my peers and I have provided because they are accurate, come from good sources and I believe that can have a great impact on our community and audience.

I’m really exited for our final documentary!!

PART 1

Topic: Kinesiology 

Purpose: Influence women to pursue a career in Health Care field

Audience: Seeking a career in the health care field

Solution: To inform the audience about how they can close the gender gap

PART 2: Purpose 

Ethos: 

According to Dr. Dana D Brooks, “Today, America is witnessing a historical and dramatic shift in the ethnic minority population, particularly Hispanics and Asian Americans, and with it comes a comingling of social identities and citizenship.”

>  “As recent as June 13, 2013, the US Census data revealed ethnic minority children under the age of five now make-up about 50% of that population” (Didymus, 2013).

>  Didymus (2013) “summarized several points and presented Census Bureau’s 2013 report and noted non- Hispanic whites make-up 63% of Americans, Hispanics constitute 17%, blacks represent 12.3% of America’s population and Asians account for 5% of the population.”

>  “ Given this projection, Hoover (2013) concluded minority students will account for 45% of the nation’s public high school graduates.”

Pathos: 

> “The “isms” and other institutional barriers continue to have a negative impact on the recruiting and retention of a diverse faculty, staff, and administrators” (Aguirre, Martinez, & Hernandez, 1993; Reid, 2012; Stanley, 2006).

With the lack of gender diversity in the health care field, gender disparities are more likely to occur. This means that the patients will have their own personal preferences. 

Due to these gender disparities, it could create intimidation of the opposing gender to pursue a career in the healthcare field. 

Logos: 

According to Dr. Dana D Brooks, “ Increasing diversity in kinesiology allows for the perception of problems from multiple perspectives.” 

In the image provided below, you can see that many professions lack in diversity, therefore affecting their problems solving skills. 

SOLUTION: 

By increasing educated women, they are more likely to go into the healthcare field. The following organizations help women achieve their academic goals

WHAT: Over the past few weeks I have learned about the current state of cultural diversity within the pharmacy field. After plenty of research I have found that the majority of pharmacy schools are made up of White students, while Asian and Hispanic students make up the smallest percentages. This led to a decrease in cultural diversity in the pharmacy workforce. During the last week of finishing my literature review, I have learned that these papers take a lot of research and time to finish. To research at the academic level you have to go through many other research papers to find one that suits your topic the best. 

SO WHAT: What I have learned over the past few weeks is important because it will strengthen and help my research papers in the future. This is only the beginning of my academic career and by learning about creating literature reviews and researching at the academic level, it will ultimately help me with any future papers and work I need to do in the future. Everything I have learned in this course will also transfer into helping me in my future profession. Throughout this course I have learned many things that will benefit me in my profession, such as organization, responsibility, and extensive research. 

NOW WHAT: This course has helped me grow my skills in certain areas that weren’t so strong before. By helping me gain knowledge in those areas I can now apply everything I have learned to all the other courses I am taking, as well as future courses, and even situations in my distant future. I have learned many things in this course that benefit my writing as well as many things within the pharmacy field. I can now use everything to my advantage to push out better work. 

This week’s post is to help everyone get a better understanding of how the literature review paper is supposed to look or be drafted. Our instructor separated us into groups and I was assigned Table 4/Group 4: Graphic image and conclusion. At first I was panicking at starting this post especially because I missed class Friday for a family emergency I feel like I am diving in blindly for this week’s assignment.

I begin by reading the tum Tuesday rubric for week 10, after reading the instructions I then began to summarize what key aspects are required for the graphic image and conclusion portion of the literature review.

The next step states for us to discuss where students can find detailed information regarding these two sections (graphic image and conclusion) of the literature review. One should refer to the rhetoric E Book, this is a screen shot of pg. 230.

The last part of this blog is to discuss several recommendations for how students can meet the requirements for the graphic image and conclusion section of the literature review paper. First i would recommend this you tube video that explains how to create your own graphs to show or compare data in your lit review paper. 

The next recommendation i can provide for the conclusion and graphic image portion is a video on how to create charts using word to compare data found related to your topic. By using charts and graphs, one can not only provide proof for the statements written throughout the literature review, but can help show the credibility of the information you choose to use in this paper. 

Now that i have completed all 3 sections of this weeks tumblr Tuesday post i cant help but feel a bit more at ease about the literature review final paper. Not only does my post help clarify what is required in the graphic/ conclusion section but reading my classmates post regarding the other sections of the lit review, there is no doubt that i wont get a high A for the final draft of my lit review paper. 

I began this long process by writing my email to my professional in the topic. I knew Dr. Schoen would be extremely valuable to my essay and would provide an insight into diversity in the medical field. 

Then, I saved the interview release to my dropbox.

And I continued on to saving the interview confirmation to my dropbox.

Afterwards, I reviewed my questions and quotes that I would ask my interviewee. I knew I had to perfect these questions to gain the information I needed for my essay. 

Finally I obtained all of the supplies I needed for the interview. 

Time to relax!!!!!!
