“just torrent it! just pirate it! streaming sites exist!” (proceeds to give absolutely zero clear instructions on how to do any of these things)
hokay well first you need adblock and antivirus, obvs.
I can’t give you much advice on streaming. if you want to stream, you can probably just google it and dig around a bit till you find a site. I don’t know a lot of good streaming sites because it’s a hassle and I don’t like doing it, but there’s less risk of viruses or your isp getting pissy. So if you don’t mind extra legwork for less risk, streaming is fine.
Now, if you want to torrent, there’s some initial set up but after that getting what you’re after is a lot easier.
Step 1: first you need a torrenting program.
there’s a lot of options but right now I use Tixati. Go ahead and get that installed. This is what allows you to download torrents.
Step 2: Now you probably want a VPN. This helps prevent the previously mentioned ‘isp gettin pissy’ problem. some torrents will have trackers that tattle on you to Comcast or whoever provides your internet. A VPN disguises your ip address to make it harder for them to figure out where you are. In my experience, if you’re just torrenting the occasional game or movie and not like, guzzling terrabytes of just-released content, the worst that will happen is your isp will shut your internet off till you call them and apologize and make some excuse about your neighbor’s kids using the wifi. they can’t actually do shit besides that. But if you want to avoid the hassle, use a VPN and torrent smart. Only get torrents from trusted sources, avoid brand new or leaked content which is more likely to be being watched, and don’t leave the actual torrent file (not the downloaded content but the torrent itself) sitting on your computer longer than necessary.
For VPNs, there’s a lot of options. Tunnelbear is generally well respected service. But it’s not free, and I don’t think something that heavy duty is really necessary for casual torrenting. If you’re messin around in the dark web and shit or torrenting on a daily basis, maybe. But for casual use, I get by with the free VPn built into the Opera web browser. Important note- Opera is basically the lite version of Chrome, it’s owned by google. Companies can buy their way through its security. It’s not perfect. But like I said, if you’re being smart and only torrenting occasionally, it’s a decent free option.
Step 3: Now that you’ve got your torrent program installed and your VPN running, it’s time to pick a torrent site!
The Pirate Bay is the oldest and best option when it comes to torrenting sites, imo. In particular because 1. you can sort results by number of seeders (the more seeds, the faster it downloads) 2.they make it easy to identify trusted sources. Look for the pink skull next to the link. These torrents will generally be safer than any others.
Unfortunately, pbay is also the most well known pirate site, so it goes down pretty often. if you don’t feel like waiting for it to come back up, you can check out other sites like Kickass Torrents or EZTV. If you find one or all of those is always “down” it may be that your isp is blocking your access to the site. Google a proxy, most of these sites have several, and use a vpn.
So, first lets search for gomens on pb.
Bam. There you go. Pick the third one down. The others have more seeds, but the pink skull means this one is safer.
click the green ‘get this torrent’ magnet link, and it’ll ask if it can open Tixati. Let it do its thing. Tixati will take a minute to download the basic info about the file, then ask your permission to start.
you can see the files included in the torrent there, and where they will be saved. If it all looks good, hit start and wait. Depending on your internet speed, it may take a while. When it’s done, hit stop and remove to get rid of the torrent file and go enjoy your content. And that’s it! You’re done! It’s much less complicated than it seems.
Have fun, torrent responsibly, support unions and Fuck Amazon.
I’m an avid pirate myself and I use rarbg.to, there’s a lot of rumors that pirate bay is a honeypot so I’m a lot wary of it and really do not use it without a VPN get a VPN!!!!!

“English is a global language because English speakers have been global conquerors. It’s not about the quality of English nouns and verbs, it’s about the quality of English guns and money.”

Important details about the Marvel-Sony deal that nobody seems to be mentioning:
Sony does not make ANY money from the movies with Spider-Man in them that are not branded Spider-Man movies, they got no money from Civil War, Infinity War or Endgame, likewise, Marvel didn’t get much from Homecoming and Far From Home
Sony pays for 100% of the Spider-Man movies, they pay to make the movies, while Marvel takes a creative lead and makes most/all of the choices on what happens in the movies
So, when people say ‘Marvel made those movies and Sony just slapped their name on them’ that is not true, Marvel did not pay a penny to make those movies, Sony’s the one that paid the bills to make those movies, it’s just that people from Marvel were involved in making the movie, so Marvel, as a company, got to slap their name on the movie
The deal was only ever for five movies (so, Civil War, Homecoming, Infinity War, Endgame and Far From Home), so the deal was up, and then Marvel came in with idiotic demands and that’s what caused the new deal to dissolve
We also don’t know 100% if this means no Spider-Man in the MCU, the only thing we know is that, as of right now, Marvel/Kevin Feige will not be taking a creative lead in Spider-Man movies, that does not mean Spider-Man is banned from the MCU, maybe it does, but we have no idea
Also, they’re probably still negotiating, so Sony might end up taking a deal, especially since idiots everywhere are berating them for not letting Disney be greedy (which is what Disney wants)
Also, lots of people are saying that Marvel helped Sony make their highest-grossing movie ever, which, while true, only surpassed Sony’s last highest-grossing movie by $2 million (and, since both those movies went above $1 billion, that means it’s only roughly 0.2% higher), so them then asking for 50% of future Spider-Man movies is asking quite a lot, since that would mean roughly a half billion dollar loss on Sony’s part per movie, and they’re supposed to be okay with that because Marvel helped them make $2 million more on this one movie than they’ve made before? None of the Spider-Man movies that Sony has ever made pulled in less than half of what Far From Home made
So, basically, what happened is this: Marvel, coming off the heels of making the number one highest-grossing movie in cinematic history (which Sony got no money from even though their characters were in the movie), and also having 5 of the top 6 highest-grossing movies of 2019 (the 1 they don’t have being Spider-Man: Far From Home), came to Sony and said ‘fuck you buddy we want 50% of the profits from your movies because we don’t have enough money,’ Sony said ‘how about we stick to our original deal?’ and then Marvel decided they wouldn’t help Sony make Spider-Man movies anymore, probably because they figure that it’ll lead to them being able to squeeze more money out of Sony. How the fuck is Sony the bad guy here in anybody’s eyes?
DISNEY IS BEING GREEDY STOP ENABLING THEM.
POV: You’re the son of the President of the United States and you have been sleeping with a prince. Your mother meets with you and these are her powerpoint slides.
it’s so insidious that priyanka chopra can straight up advocate for bombing kashmir and pakistan and label it “patriotism” with her bitchy clap back at a distressed activist trying to hold her accountable and being silenced, and meanwhile shitty uk tabloids be like
the disconnect is unreal. the fundamental lack of understanding of the situation in south asia right now and the way (this brand of) western media is so desperate to maintain the status quo of keeping celebrity culture up on its pedastal that encouraging nuclear warfare against innocent and oppressed civilians, like, doesn’t matter at all
her specific jump from bollywood to hollywood has given her a unique voice and position that a lot of westerners simply do not understand. in india, she’s from the elite. she’s born and bred into the highest class of bollywood royalty, her family history is tied to the military which constantly seeks to go to war against pakistan as well as oppressing the muslim community and other religious minirities in india. her ties to the disgustingly rich ambanis who have made their billions off the backs of poor indians and have terrible business practices, and the prime minister modi who is a staunch hindu nationalist who believes in and has been consistently making moves towards expelling all religious minorities from the country - not exactly woke kween behaviour
relocating to america means all these white people writing think pieces about how hashtag woke it is that this brown woman, from an oppressed minority, is the lead in her own tv show. she’s constantly asked about representation and taking up space in the industry as a brown woman. but that’s all meaningless coming from her - she’s never lived as an oppressed minority in america or anywhere, but it’s allowed her to co opt a #movement of #wokeness that the west loves. it means that her rampant blatant and dangerous islamophobia and imperialism is allowed to go unchecked because there’s no understanding at all of where she comes from and what she stands for in India.
it’s fully our responsibility as desi diaspora to speak out on this to educate fellow westerners, and to uplift the voices of desi activists in the homeland speaking out about what’s happening right now. i know it seems trivial in the face of what’s actually happening in kashmir, but i think perception is everything and in the west if this one singularly famous south asian person trivialises the matter without being called out, it really does shape how people here see the issue

while americans and europeans celebrate Pride, remember us. remember that pride is illegal in Russia. remember that we are silenced and shamed by our government and by the society we exist in, that our human rights get violated every day. remember that russians carrying rainbow flags will be beaten and thrown in jail this summer. celebrate and protest, but remember that we can’t.
Instead of buying overpriced corporate queer merch this Pride, consider a donation to the Russian LGBT Network: https://lgbtnet.org/en (most of the site is in Russian, but this link specifically will let you view it in English.)
They’re working to help our Russian brothers and sisters escape to countries where they’re safe, and they could really use our help. You can also read there on some of what’s going on in Russia with regard to queer rights.
You may also consider Rainbow Railroad: https://www.rainbowrailroad.com
They have the same goal and work in countries worldwide where queer folk are in danger due to anti-LGBTQ laws.
