‘Always The goddamn Babysitter!’ WIP! Hello!

Apologies for the silence again, I unexpectedly took another hiatus and man my energy has been through the floor.

But! I have made a decision to clear my threads and replies and start back again new with a clear plate!

However, if there’s a thread or plot you want to continue or redo, I’m absolutely down to plot and talk! Again, I’m really sorry I keep vanishing. Shits been really hard for me right now and I’d like to come back swinging with a vengeance!

I’ll also add to this rambling with…!!

Eddie had been hunting long enough to be able to spot the signs of something supernatural going on in a town and this one absolutely met the criteria. People going missing, bodies being found in the woods all mangled. All signs pointed to a werewolf or something close to it . Though there wasn’t really mountains super close to the small town he was looking into so he was leaning more towards the wolf idea.

The man was making his way through forest terrain, leaves and sticks crunching beneath his feet until he heard another pair of feet. Hair stood up on the back of his neck as he wheeled around, eyes narrowed and a bat at the ready when they landed upon another man. What was he doing out here? It wasn’t like there were many camping sites around and he didn’t look like any camper.

The man in question looked exhausted, hands up in a non-threatening position as he tried to bring forth his voice in a hoarse croak. “I’m just trying to find my wallet.” Steve spoke, motioning to the rather crumbled foliage and destroyed plants around them. It looked like a bear ran through. “I.. haha… drank a little too much last night and well, I think I streaked. Skinny dipped, all that.”

His face flushes as he looked down, there was some truth to his statement. The guy was only dressed in mud stained blue jeans. No shoes or shirt. His body was really hairy too. Lots of chest fuzz. “God this is embarrassing…” he mumbled, shaking his hair out as the morning dew still stuck to it flew away.

“I’m Steve. Harrington. You don’t look like you’re around Hawkins much…you just stopping by? I’d be careful… lotta nasty shit around man. If you have any pets, keep them inside.” He spoke, once getting the okay, he began to dig around the bushes again.

Like this was completely normal for him.

“Police say a rabid animal is attacking shit.”

“I specifically asked to be left SOME” he grumbled, crossing his arms and leaning back into Theo. Most of his weight was placed on top of the other as he despaired. “That man is a true menace, he is Theo! He really is! But he hides it behind his stupid old man routine and his denim!! But I know the truth!!” He ranted, hissing and spitting.

He’ll have to pour some hot sauce in Wayne’s coffee to get back at him.

He sighed, moving to open the container and inside was red, barbecue coated meat.

It had a hint of paprika smell and it smelled divine. Eddie then grabbed two plates from the cupboard and the bread from the small breadbox in the corner. Placing two slices of bread down, he turned to gather two large spoonfuls of meat each and placed them in the bread. Then, he microwave blasted them into oblivion as the scent of food wafted through the trailer.

Then, he gathered a small plate and placed 6 pickles down onto it. Each one varied in size and thickness. A mashup of different veggies.

It didn’t take long before Eddie strode over to the table, giving Theo a peck on the top of their head and set their food down. “Bon appetite! Some of the world famous…. SPECTACULAR….!!! Munson family recipe Sloppy Joes.” He preened, grinning widely as he sat down with his own plate and immediately began devouring the large morsel of food.

As Eddie started to dig into the food, Theo smiled over at the other man, admiring how carefree he was. Following suit, they began to tuck into the food that was in front of them.

Taking a first bite, Theo immediately melted. All the flavours and taste sensations were moving along his tastebuds. "Mmmmh," Theo mumbled out as he continued to eat. He felt like he was having an out of body experience, not being able to focus on anything else.

"You weren't lying when you said they were spectacular!" Theo said, looking over at Eddie. "You are making these whenever I want them now, I hope you know that," they added, letting out a small chuckle as they wiped their mouth with the back of their hand.

Once they had finished eating, Theo fell back in their chair dramatically. He could feel the food coma rising up in his body, he knew he wouldn't need to eat anything else for hours. "You are going to have to carry me to the couch, I can't move anymore," Theo said as he placed a hand on his very full, but happy stomach.

Eddie wasn’t really paying attention as he scarfed his food down. A little leftover issue from Al, Eddie tended to eat big meals fast and snacks slow.

Growing up, he didn’t have much food in the house, so he took up some form of cooking as a way to survive. Whenever he’d get actual food? He’d eat like someone would take it away. If he had snacks? He’d eat slow.

He paused, looking up as a glob of meat dripped from his cheek and onto the plate infront of him. “Huh’?” He spoke, mouth full of food. When Theo’s words registered, Eddie chuckled, swallowing the large bite in his mouth with a grin. “Sir yessir!”

He finished off his food moments later, wiping his fingers off on the napkins left out on the table. They were takeout napkins but hey, it got the job done. He looked at Theo with a grin, “oh really? And who said I had to carry you? The man who wouldn’t smooch me longer, the man who tricked me?” He smirked, standing up slowly.

“Goodbye…!! So long..!!”

Eddie looked over at her from his spot on the mildew ridden log. The campfire infront of him warming his hands and body. Like the light from the sunshine itself made into a small form.

He blushed, turning to pull a strand over his mouth. “A lot… I use a lot of product, but the curls are all natural.” He smiled softly, looking down. Not many people ask about his hair routine. “It’s usually a process. Tear through it with a brush, fluff it up and scrunch it up and dose it in hairspray and gel until you get the volume you want.”

At the mention of braiding it, Eddie held his hands up in a clear no. He didn’t like people touching his hair unless he trusted them. And no offense to her, he didn’t really trust her yet in this strange place.

"Natural curls? Consider me jealous!" She nods along to his explanation. That sounds about right. She's done something similar once to her hair and a few times when Rosalind's was longer. Rosalind...

"Well it looks totes cool. And you never have to worry about needing a can of Aquanet here at least." Juliet pulls her knees closer to her chest, arms tightening their grip around her legs. That's truly not much (if any) consolation in grand scheme of the Hell they've found themselves in. There's a minute of silence before she turns her gaze from the campfire back to him, a grin starting to form on her lips. "Although, if we had some and a lighter, could have ourselves a sweet D-I-Y flamethrower."

He snorted in laughter, wiping a fake tear from his eye. “You think Ghostie and the crew would get pissed if we used one?” Oh he couldn’t even imagine the amount of chaos he could unleash with one of those.

“If we had some stuff, I could absolutely get you looking like a member of Vixen.” Eddie smiled, mimicking an air guitar, “you know? ‘Wandering through the darkness, in your maze of lies?’ No..? Damn…”

“I had Jon make me another one.” He smiled, picking at the thread on his jacket. “Some reason, his bats are super sturdy and have never let me down so, I asked him for one and he made it.”

He had a moment of weakness infront of Jonathan. After too many all nighter’s since he’s lost his bat, he relied on Jonathan for help and, well, here he was. It was a bitch sneaking it into the dorm and he had to convince the guys to let him keep the bat.

For protection, he said.

It wasn’t a lie.

It WAS, IS for protection.

Though, it was a comfort knowing Steve wasn’t alone in his trauma. Steve frowned, placing a hand on Eddie’s shoulder. “Ed, shit, I’m sorry…”

He gently rubbed the other’s skin, careful of the scarring underneath before pulling away. “Me? Oh, I’m studying to be a teacher! Specifically a guidance counselor but I’m gonna take a few kindergarten classes to work my way up!” He smiled, sunshine radiating off his smile.

Something about the way Steve's hand touched him that sent a tingle across his skin, he nodded at Steve's explanation, for all Byers' hadn't struck Eddie as much of a fighter, he sure did make good weapons, of course Eddie had heard about the time he'd kicked Steve's ass, but he figured it had been a one off thing.

There it was, that smile that had made Eddie's stomach flip back in Hawkins, it seemed it still had the same effect. "I should have guessed you'd want to work with kids, you were pretty damn good at it," he couldn't help but return the smile with one of his own, the corner of his mouth spasming slightly.

“Hey, if there’s one thing I know, I’m a damn good babysitter.” He chuckled, moving his hand away and tucking it back into his pocket. It was good seeing Eddie smile. Especially after everything? Smiles are rare and absolutely welcome.

It still takes him a long time to truly smile, even with his fake ones. But seeing an old face? He just can’t help but grin.

He turned to face the door as someone came in, greeting them with a smile and a wave and turned back to face Eddie in conversation. “I think so! I don’t know if our majors overlap but, if you still wanna hang out we’re neighbors!” Steve grinned. “We can catch up between classes and knowing the guys I’m bunked with, between parties.”

It was a total PR disaster.

Headlines and news programs, Twitter and Tumblr posts. ‘Metal star And frontman of Corroded Coffin, Eddie Munson, has Overdose on stage.’

It was everywhere people would take it. Magazines, articles, you name it.

Of course, the man himself was relatively okay.

Recovering from the nasty seizure he experienced and the burning sensation of his nose and body as he waited for his next fix. He was okay. Far from it, but he was alive.

The next few days of withdrawal were rough. Being told he had to go to rehab, being packed up and moved into a black van with a suitcase duffle of belongings and the promise to get better by the next 2 years to perform again.

If not?

He looses his contract.

Eddie glared behind his sunglasses, gazing up at the white building with a look of hatred. “Alright, last chance now, let’s get the joke overwith.” He huffed, turning to look back at the crew his manager hired to help him move in.

They did not laugh. Instead, they carried in his duffle to be checked through.

“…..”

Eddie sighed, running a hand down his face. “Fuck…”

He made his own way inside and looked around. Jesus it was cold.

Frankly, she couldn't give any less of a shit about Eddie, it was the staff member she was more interested in. She thought he was hot, nothing wrong with that. She just wasn't allowed to hook up with him, which usually was the whole point to her.

Watching the pair go into a room she assumed would be Eddie's, she waited outside for the staff member to walk away to give him a wink and go inside Eddie's room to interrogate him, a usual routine for anyone new arriving.

"Don't get offended but you look like absolute shit," she said as she leaned in the doorway, twisting the lollipop between her fingers. "What'd you think of the loonybin so far?"

He was shown around the bathrooms, other people’s rooms, Living space, Etc. Books and movies and more littered the shelves of the living room space. Couches and chairs. This was nicer than a jail, but it still was a jail to him. He’d give it 2 weeks before he’s kicked out on his ass.

He was then taken to his own room. It was bigger than a normal room, more space and even a window. It stunk of antiseptic and clean linen that made his head hurt. They searched his duffle, his backpack and his pockets. Pulling out a baggie or two, they left without another word.

Eddie huffed, grumbling as he itched his neck for a fix.

This sucked.

He turned on his heels at the voice of another, looking at her through his sunglasses with a sneer. The dude looked like shit. Pale and clammy skin, greasy hair stuck to his skin. His clothes covered him completely, dude had to be skinny as fuck. He was dressed in sweat pants and a band shirt. Metallica.

“Why do you wanna know? Dont you have bible class to get to?”
