The Art of being a fujoshi

Last night, I was joking about shipping Kinkeith on FB. But today, I thought about it again and: why not?

I really really really hope Shiro does end up with someone in the end. I don’t care who, I don’t care if it’s Keith or some random guy in a “5 years later” epilogue. I just want Shiro to have a boyfriend in the end so all these bitter hateful people will shut up.

All the hate towards the VLD staff is getting on my last nerve. I just saw someone say “it’s LM and JDS’ fault that Adam died, they should’ve fought harder like Rebecca Sugar did,” like stfu. The SU characters are original, of course Sugar has more leeway to do whatever the hell she wants. Voltron, however, is an existing franchise. Certainly there is more red tape that LM and JDS have no control over.

Damn I feel like I jinxed the fandom lmao. I should’ve thrown in some addendum like “and the finale is good overall and doesn’t just completely throw away Shiro’s character or his friendship with Keith or disregard the paladin’s supposed bond and doesn’t screw over other characters’ story lines or kill Allura.” Oops.

This was my stance in August 2018. Then a lot happened between then and the finale in December. Way too much to go into, and I’m mostly over it now and trying to move on, so I won’t get into it here (others are welcome to comment if they want though).

One thing about the “5 years later thing”… I was hoping that there’d be a bit more substance to a future bf, and not just a character in the background with a handful of lines and a put-together-at-the-last-minute epilogue.

Also I’m still bitter over the interview where LM and JDS said “some people will interpret (Sheith) as romantic.” I know plans change, but that gave so many people false hope.

I hated season 8 as whole because… so much was bad. The last minute Shiro wedding wouldn’t have been as bad, if it hadn’t followed Allura’s death and a very not-well-written final season that left more to be desired with Lotor and Honerva’s story lines. All of that accumulated and tainted it, I think.

I still think Shiro’s wedding is good for little kids. Somewhere a gay kid saw that and saw their favorite character marry another man and that’s amazing. Still the finale as a whole could’ve been better.
