Because at least 50% of my brain is occupied with 118 bucktommy, I'm thinking about...
Tommy being on laundry duty one shift
and it's a q-word day so far so probie Buck is a bit antsy and doesn't know what to do with himself besides his favorite hobby when there's downtime...follow Tommy around like a puppy and get him flustered. He hasn't really thought about what he'd do if Tommy ever actually admitted to his attraction to Buck or ever acted on it (or why he himself likes it so much), but he's having fun in the meantime
So Buck strolls into the laundry room after his workout, sweat dripping down his body and he doesn't miss the way Tommy does a double take. He strips right there in the laundry room, ignores Tommy's eyeroll and sarcastic do you mind? Tommy's still looking after all. Buck gets in Tommy's space and says, "do you mind?" He holds up his sweaty clothes and smirks. "Can I put this load in with yours?"
we made it to the end! this has been an amazing experience, it feels like a community endeavor, i love each and every one of you <3 part one, part two, part three & part four. -> also on ao3
The lasagna was still in the oven, when Tommy arrived, so they were enjoying the view from one of the balconies. Buck had stuck the magnetic timer to one of the outside chairs, so he'd hear it and the food wouldn't burn.
”You're definitely paying for the view.”
Buck snorted. ”I think I'm paying for everything.”
”The sunset must look unreal from here, with all those windows.”
”The sunrise isn't half bad either.” Buck turned and pointed up to the loft, where his bed was. ”Waking up early is pretty great, when you don't have to get out of bed to see it.”
"Okay, wow. That was close." + bucktommy please cap 🙏
Ahhh thank you for the prompt! ❣️😘 Hope you like it!
If Tommy believed in signs from the universe, running into Evan in a bar again was maybe his cue to stop drinking. Or start drinking at home. Or… something. Because this was ridiculous.
No. Ridiculous was Evan's life in the last year or so. And there was something about the way his eyes shifted away and his grip on his beer got a little tighter at several points that said there was even more to the story.
Evan, who had always let his words pour out like Tommy had twisted off the handle, was now self-censoring himself to little more than a trickle.
It was concerning. It made Tommy want to dig, find the splinters that were going to start festering inside him, pull them out before they could turn Evan… well, into him. That was the worst thing Tommy could imagine: open, eager, adorable Evan turning into some sort of Tommy Kinard.
But that wasn't his place. He'd walked away from the job then been reminded the position was better unfilled than with him in it. And maybe that was the first sign, really. Because hadn't that been just the sort of thing he'd say?
Still. He bought another round and hoped Evan might open up a little more, might show the edge of one of those splinters so Tommy could… what? Swoop in with tweezers and pull it loose? Patch him up and kiss it better? Since when did he think he could offer something helpful to Evan that didn't involve access to a helicopter?
And it really didn't help that he'd just thought the phrase ‘kiss it better.’ He already knew his gaze kept dropping to Evan's plush mouth. That didn't mean he was going to make himself a bigger fool than he already had. At some point in his life he'd actually learned a lesson or two. Too bad none of them included getting the hell over Evan Buckley.
So Tommy drank his beer and tried to listen without watching Evan's mouth and letting his internal monologue spin off from ‘what if?’ into ‘why not?’
He did a passable job of it. He managed to tell a few stories about interesting rescues. Kept his eyes on Evan's eyes, not that they were less devastating than his mouth but at least they were the socially accepted place to focus for a guy who'd been firmly moved into the ‘ex’ column.
And then it all fell apart as they stood to leave. Evan was untangling those ridiculously long legs from the rungs of the bar stool and Tommy's hand automatically went to his forearm to steady him.
Which wasn't so bad. That could be a friendly gesture.
But then Evan looked up at him. Tommy's body shifted into autopilot (a thing he didn't even use!) and leaned in, hand still on Evan's arm as his mouth came just millimeters from Evan's.
Tommy jerked back and pasted a smile on his face. “Okay, wow. That was close.” He turned his steadying hold on Evan's arm into an awkward pat and then reached for his wallet. “Sorry about that, habit I guess. I'll take care of the tab. See you around-”
“See me around, Buck?” Evan asked.
Tommy stared at his wallet like pulling out his credit card took monumental concentration. Finally, he slipped the card loose and dropped it on the bar.
Then he looked up at Evan who was staring at him with a sort of wary anger, like it wasn't boiling over just yet but the first bubbles of it were there.
“No,” Tommy answered softly. Too softly, probably, for the bar they were in. “No,” he repeated more audibly. “I'm sorry.”
“What part are you sorry for?” Evan pushed, stepping closer. “C-calling me Buck? Almost… almost kissing me? Or…?”
Tommy's shoulders sagged. “Take your pick, Evan. All of it. I'm sorry for all of it.”
“Y-yeah? Well I'm not. I'm not sorry for what we had, Tommy. I'm not… not sorry for-”
It wasn't autopilot. It wasn't smart. It was deliberate and risky and honestly just stupid but it stopped Evan's winding up rant and it hopefully put paid to any wrong idea Evan had about Tommy's apology being for there ever having been a them.
He closed the small distance Evan had left between them and found his mouth.
It should have been awkward or weird or otherwise wrong. But it wasn't. It was almost as good as that first kiss, the risky gamble Tommy had taken not knowing if Evan was going to freak out or punch him or what.
So, just like that kiss really.
Tommy stepped back. “I'm sorry for a lot of things, Evan. But not that. What we had was one of the best things in my life. I'll never be sorry for that.”
“Then why?”
“Why…?”
“Why aren't we… us?” Evan's eyes glistened, the neon lights behind the bar seeming to catch there. “I wanted us to be.”
It punched the air from Tommy's lungs. “I wanted us to be, too. I… guess we just couldn't seem to want it at the same time.”
Evan turned back to the bar and grabbed his beer, draining the last of it before clunking it back down too hard on the bar. “Yeah. W-wanting me’s a temporary condition.”
Tommy grabbed Evan's arm again, his grip tight as he turned Evan back to face him. “No, it's not. Not for me it's not. Think whatever else you want about me and it's probably true. But I don't think there'll ever be a moment in my life when I'm safe from wanting you.”
And then Evan was kissing him. And not just kissing him, kissing him like Tommy was every good and perfect thing he'd ever wanted, like Tommy was special, like maybe, just maybe, Evan wanted him too.
Then he pulled away and Tommy had to grab the bar edge to keep from stumbling into his bar stool on suddenly shaky legs.
“Three beers,” Evan said.
“What?”
“I've only had three beers and we were here talking for hours.”
“Okay?”
“I'm not drunk. I'm not being stupid, impulsive Buck. I'm not Bucking up again.”
“I didn't think - wouldn't think that,” Tommy answered, still feeling off-kilter and unsteady.
“Come home with me. Or I'll come home with you. And we'll do Saturday and all the Saturdays and we won't… we won't keep letting ourselves…” Evan faltered. “If you meant it, I mean. If you-”
“I do. I mean it. I've never meant anything more.”
“Yeah?” And there was that sunshine smile Tommy remembered, the unclouded one that could melt every icy wall Tommy could throw between them. As long as he kept looking at it; as long as he didn't turn and walk away.
He took Evan's hand. “Yeah.”
“Hey. Do… do you have a shift tomorrow?”
Brushing his thumb along Evan's finger, Tommy shook his head. “Nope. I'm off for the next two days.”
“Me too.”
Tommy had to briefly take his hand back to sign the bill and put his credit card away but then Evan caught it again.
And held it as they walked to the door.
Together.

Fuck it Friday. Have a bit from the next chapter of Thought I was Done/Secret Relationship fic.
“I was going to tell everyone when he asked me to marry him,” Buck says, placing each little ball of dough into his pan, “We were going to get a license at the courthouse and do the ceremony here, with everyone.” He gives a low, bitter little laugh, “I was even going to ask Chim if he’d officiate.”
Chimney made him sit through the Marvel movies once. It had been a huge undertaking and happened over the course of a couple of weeks. Chimney was adamant they watched them chronologically. They were fun in the way action movies often were. The best one was the one they saw on the big screen. Buck couldn't remember which one it was, but movies were always better in theatres.
The only thing that stuck from that whole experience – other than he wanted to go to the movies more often – was Captain America. He didn't remember the words, but the sentiment was get up.
At the time, Buck had wondered why that was a big deal, or anywhere close to profound. Of course you got back up. You were not supposed to stay down, of course you got back up. It was a given.
Looking at the bright blue sky above, Buck felt the weight of it. He couldn't get back up. He wasn't pinned, no one was holding him down, but he couldn't get up. His turnouts felt glued to the asphalt.
I love the way you write Buck and Eddie’s friendship. I’d love to read something from around the time when Buck came out. 🥹
thank you frienddddd for sending this to me. i love love love love love the coming out scenes, and the one with eddie is so soft and loving. so this is a similar vibe, if you will. post-hospital kiss.
we'll call this one "peace after pain."
[wc: 1427]
By the time Eddie gets a slice of cake and sneaks into the hallway, Chris already back at the house with Abuela, headache receding from all the tequila and worry, it’s quiet.
The lights are dull, hospital visiting hours passed by an hour before, only the 118 and a few stragglers remain tucked into chairs lining the waiting room. They sit stacked together offering final congratulations to the happy couple before drifting apart before reuniting for their next shift.
There’s something about the ‘after’ – the way an emergency always heightens adrenaline, carries worry like wildfire, rampant and unending across harried terrain – that softens everything slowly.
Eddie’s used to the chaos – knocked up his girlfriend as a teenager and got carted off to war two times over. Lost his team in a helicopter crash that only brought their bodies home but left their minds back out in the desert. Every day the klaxon rings and every day he prays he makes it home to Christopher, waiting for the day his luck runs out.
Tidbit Tuesday. Have a rough bit of an alternate take on the intervention from the last chapter of Thought I was done. (I went back and forth a few times on whether I wanted the Wilsons and Chimney there, but in the end only Maddie really made sense to me)
“Evan will be sad he missed you guys. What’s the occasion?” Tommy asks.
“Let’s not play this game, Tommy,” Hen sighs, “You know what this is.”

BuckTommy 🧡 kissing in bed / lazy kiss / cuddling
Tommy wakes to the sunlight slanting through the blinds, warm and butter yellow. It's strange, he usually wakes when it's still dark out and goes for a run before the overwhelming heat of LA in the day cranks up, but judging by the light in the room now, it must be well into the morning. He hasn't slept this late in years, maybe not since his first night back in the states after his final tour.
He rolls, stretching his arm out to wrap around Evan's waist and pull him close. He makes a soft sound, his nose scrunching slightly as he rubs his face into the pillow, then his eyes crack open and he smiles sleepily.
"Hi."
"Good morning" Tommy replies, kissing his shoulder. Evan hums and reaches for his phone to check the time.
"He slept through the night," He murmurs. Tommy nods.
"Third night this week."
Theo had been struggling with his sleep ever since the accident. The nightmares were the worst of it, but he also had a hard time finding peace in his new bed in Evan's house. Most nights, he either called for him in the middle night and Evan dozed back off stretched out beside him on his Jurassic Park bedspread, others Theo would sneak down the hall and climb into Evan's bed with his stuffed dog tucked under his arm. Evan didn't particularly mind, he knew the boy was just seeking comfort, and now that time had passed and Theo knew he had a stable home again, things were getting better.
"He sleeps better when you're here," Evan says, tucking his phone away again and snuggling into Tommy's arms. "We both do."
"Just a guard dog to you, hm?" Tommy teases, running his fingers across Evan ribs. He laughs and nods, looping an arm around Tommy's neck.
"Yep. Gonna buy you a collar soon."
"Kinky."
Evan threads his fingers in Tommy's hair and pulls him in for slow kiss. Tommy hums against his lips, sliding his hand down his back to press their bodies closer, slipping it under the material of his sweatshirt to get to bare skin. Evan is still sleep warm and pliant, opening his mouth to Tommy's tongue eagerly.
God, how had he gone without this for so long? Just kissing Evan was enough to make his brain go haywire and basically shut down. Evan is an excellent kisser, every kiss is filled with passion, like he's trying to push all the love he carries around into Tommy. He punctuates every slide of their lips with soft sounds and needy sighs. Tommy was desperate for him, aching with desire. Since they'd gotten back together they hadn't had an opportunity to get much further than quick hand jobs in the shower and rutting against each other fully clothed liked teenagers. Tommy let his hand slide lower, dropping down to cup Evan's ass through his boxer briefs and squeeze lightly before continuing down to grasp his thigh and hike his leg up over his hip.
"Fuck, yeah," Evan pants against him, dropping his head back to let Tommy latch onto his neck. Tommy worries the skin of his collarboane between his teeth, rolling his hips forward, seeking friction. "Tommy, please, I–"
Tiny feet pound down the hall, each step sounding like a roll of thunder growing closer and closer to their bedroom. They barely have a moment to untangle their limbs before the door bursts open and Theo launches himself onto the bed, landing right in the middle of them with a big smile.
"T. Rex attack!" Tommy exclaiming, tickling his sides until Theo squeals with laughter and squirming away into Evans arms.
"Hey, kiddo," Evan says, hugging him to his chest. "How'd you sleep?"
"Good." He nestles in for their morning cuddle session, his thumb trying to sneak up to his mouth before Evan catches it gently. Theo had reportedly kicker the habit before he started daycare, but it's made a resurgence since the accident. "Can we have pancakes?"
"Sure we can." Tommy tosses the covers back and sits up. "Extra chocolate chips?"
"And whipped cream!" Tommy chuckles and ruffles his hair before he gets out of bed to head to the kitchen.
As he leaves the room, he hears Evan and Theo making their plans for the day and smiles. He never pictured a life for himself that included a Saturday morning routine like this, never let himself dream that he had a chance at a real family at any point in this lifetime. He pauses in the doorway to look back at them and soak it all again. Evan looks up and smiles at him.
'I love you,' He mouths over Theo's head.
'Love you more.'
Oh my gosh, you're so creative! Thanks for all the ficlets, they are amazing!
Here's a prompt for an alternate first meeting for Bucktommy: Tommy has a random hookup and an embarrassing incident happens, so he has to call 911. Of course, the 118 comes to the rescue, including the guy who kind of replaced him.
Thank you 🥹
1. Tommy's handcuffed to a bed, and there's a guy passed out on his floor. He literally saw Gerald's Game a month ago, so he immediately yells for Siri to call 911 while he tries to break the bedframe. He only has a vague idea of the address, describes the house as best he can once he remembers the street name. Thankfully, he doesn't recognize the operator's voice. But she's nice, at least. She also tries to reassure him that similar things happen all the time. "Yeah, I know," he sighs.
2. He's mentally trying to figure out what it'll cost him in bribes for this to never get out to the rest of the LAFD. He's pretty sure he can afford to delay his retirement by a year or two. And then he hears a familiar voice yell out: "LAFD! Call out, let us know where you are." So he mentally bumps his retirement back by five years and calls, "In here, Bobby!" And there's a brief pause and murmur before the door opens. Tommy raises his thigh so he's not flashing his dick to three people he used to work with. "Pretty sure he took Viagra," he says, nodding toward his hookup, who's starting to stir awake. "So if you could, uh, help him. That would be great." And Hen and Chimney jump into action, and Bobby steps aside to let in a kid who's got a handcuff key pinched between his fingers. "How you been, Tommy?" Bobby asks mildly. "Oh, you know, doing okay," Tommy replies. "Harbor's great." "That's good," he says. The kid carefully lays the duvet over Tommy's bottom half and comes around to the other side and smiles down at him. It's a beautiful smile, top 5 that Tommy's ever seen. "Hey, uh, how long have you been in this position?" the kid, Buckley, asks. "Long enough that this is about to hurt," Tommy admits. "O-okay. It's just a blood--you already know that," he says, flushing. "Yeah, but the distraction would be nice," Tommy says with a smile. When Buckley is carefully easing Tommy's arms down, he's speaking in low tones and instructing him to open and close his hands. Tommy pushes himself up into a seated position just in time to see the guy--Eric? Aaron?--get sat up by Hen. "Sorry, man," the guy croaks. "It's fine," Tommy says, rubbing his shoulder.
Everything Is Different Now (But It Kind Of Feels The Same) Part 3
Part 1 Part 2
Evan calls late on a Friday night. Tommy had just settled into bed with a crime novel he'd bought second hand when his phone screen lights up. He picks up immediately, worry gnawing at his gut.
"Hey," Evan's voice is quiet. "Sorry to call so late. I hope I didn't wake you."
"You know you didn't." Tommy has always been a night owl, usually staying up until the wee hours of the morning, especially if he didn't have a shift the next day. "What's up? Everything okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, things are great." Tommy hears rustling on the other end of the line, then the slide of Evan's back door opening and closing. "I'm taking Theo for a hike tomorrow and he asked if you could come."
"Oh."
Tommy can't say he's not surprised. Since he had come over dinner two weeks before, he and Evan had been in touch, checking in and sharing little life updates, but had been limited. Evan had has hands full juggling work and learning how to be a full time caregiver to a kid who had more energy than even he did, Tommy wasn't expecting hour long phone calls like they used to have.
"You don't have to," Evan says quickly. "I know it's last minute and you probably have plans."
"No – I mean, I don't have plans. I'd love to come."
"Yeah?" His ears are probably playing tricks on him, because Evan sounds so relieved and...hopeful?
"Sure. What time are thinking?"
More sentences Monday! Have some of an upcoming chapter of Thought I Was Done/Secret Relationship AU.
“I’m surprised that doesn’t bother you,” Maddie says, “That Buck’s spending time with the ‘competition’.”
Tommy blinks at her, before he smiles a big, nose scrunchy smile, “You’re adorable.”
He'd been to gay bars before, both on purpose and accidentally. This one was an accident. It looked perfectly normal from the outside. Maybe there was stuff on the walls to indicate what kind of establishment it was, but the light was too low to see. The other patrons were dressed – maybe an excess of leather jackets, but again, the light was low.
It was his second bar of the night. The first one wasn't a vibe at all. Buck was having a nice time, sitting by himself and people watching. When the lack of women started to sink in, it was already too late.
A very handsome older man approached his table and started talking. Buck liked to talk, so that was fine. But then came another. And another. Soon his table was crowded and he wasn't sure who was talking to who. It got overstimulating very fast.
Right before he started to panic, he felt hands on his shoulders. ”Give the kid some air, yeah?” The whole table erupted, but the guy at his back stood firm. Before he knew what was happening, the guy had him by the armpits and pulled him to his feet.

(aka the piss kink fic i never imagined myself posting)
-
Jealousy was a trait Tommy knew Evan possessed, but he hadn’t seen it since it had taken out Eddie’s ankle so long ago.
Jealousy, it turned out, was a trait Tommy really, really liked in his boyfriend, when it got him publicly mauled at a club after a drunk patron didn’t listen to Tommy’s rejections.
Tommy’s head spun with the possessiveness of the biting kiss Evan planted on him right in the middle of Harbour’s new probie’s bachelorette party.
“You jealous, baby?”
“...a little.”
Tommy laughed, absolutely smitten. “You look ready to take me out back and piss on me to stake your claim.”
Surprisingly, he heard Evan’s sharp intake of breath, felt the slight tensing of his shoulders.
“Oh?”
“That’s new,” Evan confessed with a flush growing over his cheeks.
