You probably havenât heard of ANNE+
but by the end of this post I hope youâll love the concept as much as me.
ANNE+ is a dutch made webseries focusing on the life of a twenty year old lesbian, Anne, who has just moved to Amsterdam at the start of the series, and follows her for the next four years.
^^^^ Thatâs Anne, played by the wonderful Hannah Van Vliet.
Each episode focuses on a different relationship she has over these four years, hence the title âAnne+â (Anne+TheNameOfTheOtherGirl).Â
The creators have been ardent about the fact that, although it focuses on the life of a gay girl, it isnât meant to be about how difficult it is to be gay, how much of a struggle it is to come out. Instead, itâs about being in your twenties and living life in a new place, finding out who you are: the positive experience of being gay, rather than the negative that a lot of mainstream media tends to focus on. To quote Hannah Van Vliet, âShe just happens to be gay and this is her life.â
Listening to the creators, Maud Wiemeijer and Valerie Bisscheroux, itâs very evident that this is a passion project for everyone involved:Â âWe often say that weâre creating the content that lacked when we were young. If youâre young and a little unsure of who you are, itâs nice to find some recognition.â
While theyâve finished shooting the first two episodes (which are slated to be released soon), they need funding to finish shooting the remaining episodes. At the time of writing this post theyâve raised two thirds of the funds they need:
If you can donate any amount, or even just reblog this post and get this series the attention that it deserves, youâll be helping this production massively. From what weâve seen, the production value is amazing, the writing is slick and relatable, and everyone involved is entirely passionate about the project. If you donât believe me, just watch their crowdfunding video (they have more videos on their YouTube channel too):
Please signal boost this even if you canât donate! Thanks!
