THE GOLDEN LIGHT OF HIS desk lamp pools over the edge of the table , throwing soft shadows in the rest of the garage . it's hardly evening , but the time of year has the night creeping overhead earlier && earlier each day . it's not even late enough for dinner yet ( though roman hasn't exactly had lunch either so — maybe they can cut even somewhere between meals ) . it's unclear to him if gabriel eats but still — he orders him something . just for old time's sake .

" JUST — DON'T SAY ANYTHING . FOR five seconds . " she says this with a crease in her brow as she holds up a finger , flicking open the cap of the bottle with her other hand . things were already bad enough : leads that went nowhere , pick ups that never materialized , having to get her own hands dirty .

&& NOW HERE she was , nursing her wounds in front of the last person she wanted to see .

SHE KEEPS EYE contact as she tips the bottle to her lips && easily downs half the bottle of whiskey — not trusting the other to take advantage of an already precarious situation for her . taking a breath , she wipes her mouth with the back of her hand && ever so gently puts the bottle back on the ground .

" OKAY DON'T MOVE ANY CLOSER . i know this looks bad . " one long , painful pause as roman looks at the hand he's raised ( d r e n c h e d in blood ) — not too helpful for his case . so he slowly ( very slowly , all while watching the other ) lowers his hand to join the other hand holding an equally bloody knife .

" BUT IF IT'S any consolation , rover over here was going to kill you first . " he'd have to give the damn thing some credit . the patience it took for the werewolf establish itself in the community as to not attract attention , to map out its victims so no one would notice . . . most people in general wouldn't have been able to pull it off so . nice work he supposes — but thank god it wasn't nice enough for him not to catch on .
