Humans always were such strange creatures. One moment they are kicking and screaming, the next they willingly submit to their new reality if it means they will no longer endure pain. Heil wonders how this individual will act in the long run, seeing as how he is already dead set on being incredibly rude and disobedient. The gag was handed to the servant who untied Rhain's hands and he said nothing, simply scowling down at the boy in front of him. "I am not anyone, I am a god," he corrected sharply. "Just as equally as important you are my bride and I your groom, if you wish to have somewhat of a long life in this realm you need to abide by its law. So kneel."

"Is this sufficient, my dear groom?" Ah. He probably shouldn't have said that, but, well, he's just been sacrificed, so maybe he's not feeling that smart after all.

"it's hot when you're going through hell and you're hating yourself."

"oh, my darling, dearest wife, what makes you think i could ever hate myself? have you met me?"

With a brilliant flash of light they appeared within the circle, bound and gagged just as the last one had been. Every ten years seems like a blink of an eye in the eyes of an immortal, especially when most brides do not make it for the first year. Once the summoning spell was complete he took a few steps forward, towering over his new bride as they looked upon him with a mixture of fear and anger. He leaned forward, removing the gag from their mouth as a servant rushed to untie them. Once they were freed Heil took a few steps back and intertwined his hands behind his back as he regarded them. "Perhaps the custom has been lost after all these years but normally one kneels in the presence of a god," he scolded.

He glowers up at the god. Part of him hadn't believed that this would work, that the sacrifice would be accepted. Was he hoping that it would or wouldn't work? He doesn't know. The words should be terrifying, probably would be terrifying. But he's so furious to have gone from one trap to another that he doesn't move. "Perhaps I'm done kneeling or bowing or groveling to anyone," he returns.

"This feels a little excessive. Is this a threat or a bad attempt at flirting?"

"The first one, I suppose. Consider it more of an assessment of whether or not you are a threat. You smell like sulfer, but it's a little faint."

“you know i met a guy who knows you today. well, seems like he knows the whole gang, maybe? he certainly knew enough to say you have goblin children.”

it takes her a moment to consider the people she knows and who might say something like that. not izzy. not ximen. "ah. arthur. that was real rude'a him, but i'm not surprised. if he was too prickly, i can yell at him?"

"Because Salem is an idiot who underestimates how much his siblings love him." Even Chance knew the boy was well loved, especially by his sisters. "So, what you're telling me is that the cost of keeping Genesis alive is Salem's life and then it won't even matter if Gen's alive because she'll be so broken that there won't be any way to stop her from dying because werewolves can and do die from broken hearts."

"Sage." He might have known the names of any of her friends, but Chance knew Sage's name. Hell, he liked the girl well enough and even understood why she had walked away, but that didn't mean he had to like the situation. "Killing Sage would kill Genesis. There would be no pulling her back from that loss. Just as there would be no pulling her back from the loss of her twin brother." He took a step closer, clearly unamused by the turn of conversation. "How exactly is this a good deal for Salem?"

"Salem seemed to think otherwise when he made that bargain." Which, even to Aries, had seemed unrealistic. But who was he to argue? She might survive the loss of him if she had other connections. If she had built a life of her own with a wife and kids. But he wasn't sure she wanted kids and equally unsure if she could handle them. "I never said that it was. But it's a better deal than it could have been. He offered himself with no parameters and no limitations. We negotiated something less disastrous. It is as fair a bargain as I think I can give. And I think he sleeps easier knowing Genesis won't be going to the hospital any time soon."

"I'm assuming she's elaborated on the reason for her current spiral?" He couldn't fathom Genesis spending any amount of time around someone and not bringing her up not quite ex. Not quite because he didn't think they had actually been dating. "As someone prone to obsession and possessiveness, I can see why he would feel that way." He and Sera had not had the healthiest dynamic and the kids had, unfortunately, been witness to that. "If?" He hated when there was room for anything close to hope. "What do you mean by if?"

"Saffron? Sasha? She and Salem both mentioned the girl, yes. Salem made it very clear that murdering her would likely only make it all worse. Which I assume is also your assessment." He imagined that if that would have fixed it, Salem wouldn't have even made the bargain to begin with. Which would be very disappointing. "Did I say 'if'? Hmmm. If. When. Either. Both. I suppose time will tell."
