Idk what this is

Herbert is still upstaged by Meg even when she's dead. He still just can't seem to make an impact on Dan without her. Right before that he is baring his heart in a Herbert way of talking about his experiments and that causes Dan to leave so he put up his walls again and bares megs heart in a desperate attempt to get Dan to stay and it works. This shows herbert that Meg is the only reason they are even interacting. She is the cause of all of his problems. His issues with these feelings that he feels for Dan. He doesn't understand them bc he puts all of his love into science because it's easy to understand. He gets it. He just can't grasp love. So he tries to through Meg. The only way he gets Dan to stay is through her. Later when bride rips her own heart out and in agony ask Dan if it's what he wants and he turns her away it shows that he has finally accepted herbert and is falling for him because he doesn't want megs heart anymore, he wants to make sure herbert isn't dying and he also doesn't hurt bride because it's herbert creation that he is so proud of. When herbert is talking about how he has triumphed over God, he is succeeding in not only defeating death but also in winning Dan's heart. He has finally made Dan see his way of life (we don't talk about beyond, it doesn't exist) But before that Meg still is the antagonist, she is still the thing that herbert is trying to overcome She is still the thing that causes arguments and is the thing that makes herbert start on making bride. If Dan had just walked out I don't think herbert would have kept up with his project, he would have kept doing experiments sure, but he wouldn't have made bride the way he did, if he finished her at all. He only grabbed megs heart because of Dan. It was his way of trying to manipulate Dan into seeing his way of life.
