shit I need to do before thursday night:

laundry (today; its already in the car)

pack clothes for 3-4 days (3 but just in case I like get stuck in quicksand)

clean the cat box & vacuum the kitchen

tidy up trash and try to do at least a few dishes so that my brothers don't have to deal with Kitchen Nightmare

on thursday make sure the cat food and water is all topped up (obviously my brothers will be cat sitting but I don't want them to have to really do anything other than playing and wet food)

send my brothers instructions for danny and how to work the wii/ps2 setup

i want to put my thoughts behind this: this was supposed to be a piece for pride month, titled "you were loved". the sky is the color of the aroace flag (just upside down)!

basically, i wanted to show an aroace person — an old aroace person, to be precise. being aroace myself, i am always told that i will forever be lonely and miserable if i don't get a partner. so showing grace, who is aroace to me, as old and happy and fulfilled and oh so loved by his best friend, was really important to me <3

anyway I think that if you have an old wii laying around and even are considering hacking it.. do it I am genuinely impressed with how well this has gone and how smoothly everything runs. or don't do that and mail me your wiimotes. either way

#ktxt #not as extensive as the 3ds in terms of customizability so far #but definitely comparably easy to 3ds and works a bit better than ps2 hacks #3ds is much easier iirc but only because to get the wads you need installed on ur nand there's like a whole process #however I do like the file manager application you use for converting/transferring files to sd a lot it's very clean

also it's super cool to revisit pretty much every wii game we had as kids and dl a bunch of other crap I have never played and still have like 4gb left LOL the wii games are so storage optimized it feels like a golden era

...I mean all that said it's 480p graphics and even mario galaxy looks a little rough but I'm kinda used to that since all I ever play are jank ps2 games or like 2d strategy games that will run on my Extremely Not A Gaming Laptop

I'm so excited though because already I have a list of like 20 multiplayer games so me and bestie have that many more options woohoo. genuinely it's difficult to find 2 player couch co-op games these days. everyone say thank you to my mom for letting me dig this out of her gross entertainment center/crypt and clean it up !

after today my wii sd card is officially full... however apparently the wii usb port is fine to run games off of too (unlike the ps2's usb 1.0 drive that causes stuttering cutscenes) so maybe I'll try it out and switch to an external hard drive at some point (?) so I can save the 128gb mini sd I'm using for more ps2 games (my primary ps2 sd is full already too).

ironically enough ps2 games are so much larger, like, it's actually hard to find wii games over 4gb, so I feel like I do need more storage space for ps2 + there's less ways to reliably run things on a slim so the mc2sio memory card adapter is basically my only choice (for my personal setup anyway)

...all this to say I'm having fun it's cool to know that there's room to improve my basic wii setup (I haven't even touched most of the homebrew yet either beyond usbloader & restoring wiiconnect24) I mean do I have the money for all that rn? no. but I can always chip away at it slowly over time
