Rant.
Believe it or not, I helped make this baby. I did ya know, BIRTH her. This baby has MY genes too. Not EVERYTHING is "just like her daddy." If I hear it one more time, I'm gonna lose it.
Go on, crumble. Cry. You and Rome were marble-made, but both needed time.
you are an empire; start from the rubble and rise - haiku #7 (p.b.)
I'm so sad
That I actually cannot sleep. A sleep deprived new mom that can't sleep.. And I'm sure by the time I do sleep, Harper will be up ready to eat. Harper and I have our 6 week appointments tomorrow. 6 weeks ago, I gave birth. 6 weeks ago I experienced a whole new kind of love I never thought possible. It's indescribable. The day after tomorrow, I return to work. While I was offered a better position with better hours, I still can't fathom leaving her. It just breaks my heart. I wish we could afford for me to stay home. It's just not plausible on one salary at this point in time. Ugh, I can't stand it.

āHave no fear of perfection, youāll never reach itā ā Salvador Dali Painting with Bambi today šāØ
So yeah I can see how many fingers youāre holding up
THIS IS VERY ACCURATE
THIS IS VERY BEAUTIFUL
Is this accurate? Is this what itās actually like to not be able to see clearly?
1. Date a boy who makes you happy, but marry him only if he makes you laugh deep-belly rumbles that hurt your ribs as they expand outwards. Date him when he sees that youāre hurting and he gives you a moment to feel that pain like a handprint spreading across your consciousness, marry him only if he can make you smile even while youāre gross sobbing. The world is not a kind place. You will feel a lot of pain. Make sure you are with someone who makes it all bearable. Humor is an excellent gauge of intelligence. Life gets boring. Find someone who makes the banal interesting. 2. Make sure he has scars on the back of his hands, itās a good sign he has experience either fighting or making things - creation is an act of selflessness and bruised knuckles are a good sign he knows how to defend himself. Youāve got too much soul to be handled by someone who has never been passionate. If heās never thrown a punch, let him at least have tasted the insanity of bringing an idea into existence. Rough palms are better than soft ones, they have been salted by this earth and made into leather. Callouses are evidence he has lived, that he has broken skin and been in pain over and over and over again and still came back to the source of it. People rub against each other. Donāt marry him if he canāt handle even a little blister. 3. Before you say yes, get him angry. See him scared, see him wanting, see him sick. Stress changes a person. Find out if he drinks and if he does, get him drunk - youāll learn more about his sober thoughts. Discover his addictions. See if he puts you in front of them. You canāt change people, baby girl. If they are made one way, it doesnāt just wear off. If you hate how he acts when heās out of it now, youāre going to hate it much worse eight years down the road. You might love him to bits but it doesnāt change that some people just donāt fit. 4. Trust your instincts. If he ever makes you feel unsafe, donāt make excuses, just get up and leave. Thatās all there is to it. Itās better to be safe than sorry. 5. If he puts money before you, heāll keep pushing you to the bottom of the pile until you become his last priority. Itās one thing if he canāt afford what you want, itās another if he has the cash but wonāt spring for a box of chicken mcnuggets. Money and love are arch enemies. 62% of divorces occur due to economic strain. Make sure keeping you is more important than his 401k. 6. How a man treats animals is a good indicator of how he treats children. If you see him raise a hand to a dog, pack your things into a little black bag. Animals at their worst are only half as annoying as a toddler on their best behaviour. Your kids will be beautiful, but they will also misbehave. Same goes for waiters and hotel maids - if heās rude to those who are working for minimum wage, it says a lot about how he sees himself. Patience is rare and so important. If heās not forgiving to a dog, heās not good for your kids. 7. If he isnāt in awe of you, he doesnāt deserve you. You are my little girl and you were born perfect. If he canāt see that, itās his loss. There is someone who thinks your flaws power his heart. Be strong. If he asks you to change, be like like rock of your birthstone, do not waver. You are wondrous just the way that you are.
My fatherās recipe for the man I should marry (part 1/2 of a series). /// r.i.dĀ (via inkskinned)
My brother just told me to go put real clothes on, cause I looked homeless. #momlife That's what happens when you finally get baby down for nap, let her get good & asleep, run to the shower, then 2.5 minutes in, hear baby wiiiide awake and unhappy. Then she's up the rest of the afternoon so there's no time for a blow dry or make up.
Is this realā¦like

this one time I ran a red light on mistake and I didnāt notice it was red until it was too late so I just ran the light screeching like an angry pterodactyl the entire time
a cop was at the intersection so he pulled me over and when he came up to my window he was wheezing cause he was laughing so hard and he said
āok so i know you ran a red light and thatās really bad and you should never do it again but iām not gonna give you a ticket cause that was the funniest thing iāve ever seen and my partner canāt get out of the car cause heās laughing so hard heās about to pee himselfā
i forgot that iād had my window open when i ran the red light and the cop told me that all he heard from my car was this really high-pitched āscreeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEAAAHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhā
and thatās how i got out of getting a ticket for running a red light
this is my favourite story of all time and im probably going to reblog it many times throughout my blogās lifetime
She's already changed so much in 2 weeks!
Birth story, donāt say I didnāt warn you.
March 16, 2015 - I was 40 weeks and 6 days. I was to go into the hospital at 5:30pm & they would start to induce me. (This was definitely not what I wanted, I wanted her to come naturally. However, when I was checked at the doctor on the 13th, I was not dilated at all.) Saturday the 14th, I had contractions every ten minutes apart from 5pm-1am.. then they stopped. So much to my disappointment (only because I was scared of being induced), I went in to start the induction process. When I got there, they started my IV & told me the plan. They were going to put a pill on my cervix 3 times - every 3 hours. Then, 3 hours after the last dose was placed, they were going to start the pitocin drip.
But! I guess all the contractions that Saturday were not for nothing, when they checked my cervix I was dilated to a 3. Change of plans: now, they were going to let the contractions do their thing overnight & start the pitocin drip at 4am. So, I was still being induced, but I wasnāt going from absolutely no dilation/effacement to full on labor.
Overnight I was able to sleep on and off due to a low dose ambien I was given to help me rest before it all began. 4am the pitocin drip was started. Contractions began & they werenāt exactly fun, but they were tolerable. Until they started in my back. The back pain was beginning to be unbearable. I could handled it all but the back.. It was so painful I ended up opting for Stadol. Each dose only lasted an hour, and they will only give you 2 doses. I remember telling my mom that I couldnāt feel my face..I remember feeling fuzzy and drifting to sleep. After they gave me the second dose, they told me that if I chose, they could go ahead and get me ready for the epidural before the Stadol wore off. (All throughout my pregnancy, I was terrified of the epidural, it was not something I wanted at all.) When the back contractions started coming back through the epidural, and I knew I was not close to being completely dilated, I decided to go with the epidural. To be honest, I barely remember getting it. I remember sitting up and bending over, hugging my pillow. I remember the coldness of the antiseptic they put on my back. I remember a slight pinch of the numbing needle. I donāt remember & I didnāt see theĀ ābig old needleā everyone always talks about.Ā
Luckily, after I got the epidural, I was not completely numb. That was one of my biggest fears, not having any control over the lower half of my body. I could not feel the contractions.. I watched them get bigger and more intense on the screen, but I still didnāt feel them. In fact, I slept on and off almost the entire day. My doctor came in to break my water. I didnāt feel it at all. They put a towel under me when he broke it and when the nurse carried it away, it was a greenish color.. the baby had already pooped in the womb. Because of this, they were going to have to have NICU, and a respiratory team in the room for immediately after she was born. The nurses came in to check dilation every once in a while. I was progressing, but slowly. They brought in a peanut birthing ball & I had to lay on that for the remainder of the afternoon. It seemed to speed things up a lot. Also with the epidural, you have your own little button that you can push to administer another dose. I only had to use it once, when the back contractions somehow made their way through the medicine.Ā
After 3pm or so, my birthing nurse came in and said it was time to go ahead and start pushing her down into the birth canal. Zac held up one leg, I held the other, and I pushed. Three ten second pushes per each contraction.. Turns out, the baby was coming down on her side, instead of face down, this is why I was having so much pain in my back. I pushed for a good 30 minutes when she decided to stop and let the contractions move the baby down further themselves. This to me, was one of the worst parts, waiting on her to come back to that I could push again. I couldnāt feel any pain, but the pressure was so intense that all I wanted to do was push for some relief. It was probably around 4 when she came back, and made me start to push again. It was absolutely exhausting, and almost discouraging, but my nurse was amazing. She was so positive and so encouraging, I probably wouldāve had a much harder time if it hadnāt been for her. Eventually, she called for the rest of the team to come in. The doctor, NICU, the respiratory team, and the other nurses. I pushed more and more, getting more and more discouraged with each push. I felt like I was getting nowhere and the pressure was so intense I couldnāt stand it. Zac was right by my side, holding my leg, letting me grab him and pull with each push. He pushed my hair out of my face and told me to just keep going. I could tell that he couldnāt stand the pain I was in. With each push the nurse & doctor just kept cheering me on. And I just got more and more discouraged, after each push when I was able to breathe again, I would start to almost hyperventilate and panic, because the work was so hard and I felt like I was getting nowhere. I remember hearing my mom ask if that was the head, that she could see hair. They eventually gave me oxygen because I just couldnāt calm down and they said the baby needed the oxygen. After they gave me that, it was only 2 or 3 more pushes and they started yelling at me to look. Zac had taken my glasses off when they gave me the oxygen, but I was still able to see them pulling her out..All of a sudden, the room was erupting with noise. My mom started bawling, I started bawling, Zacās mom was crying as well. She was immediately taken to the corner by the NICU team and I heard her start to scream. This made me cry even more. I could hear her, but barely see her and she was just screaming her little lungs out. I looked up to Zac and he was turned around crying, he kissed me and then went to the babyās side. They had to clear out her lungs from the meconium and that upset Zac, because it was not a small aspirator..Ā
As soon as she came out, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief. I still couldnāt feel anything, but I felt a lot of tugging. I saw long thread where they were stitching me up.. There were 2 small tears.. After that, they were still waiting on the placenta to be delivered. Normally, this comes on itās own.. Mine however, didnāt. They massaged my sore stomach for almost 30 minutes. All while I listened to my baby cry for a while before they were able to bring her to me. After 30 minutes, the doctor told me that my placenta is not going to come on itās own, so that it is going to have to be manually extracted.. When my nurse checked my epidural, it was out of medication, she had to get the placenta right then. This part was almost as bad as the pushing. I had some feeling back and you can only imagine how they manually extract it.. After she got it out,she said that sheĀ āthoughtā she got it all, that if thereās any left, it is probably just a very small piece.. There was some left, I found out the hard way that evening when I almost passed out from blood loss in the bathroom. Not only did it terrify me, it even scared my nurse. (āCause thatās reassuring.) Because of that, and because she swallowed her meconium, we had to stay an extra day in the hospital. My recovery hasnāt been very easy, I was incredibly sore & almost lethargic for a couple days right after. I didnāt want to get up to do anything. Showering was exhausting. Add that to the lack of sleep that comes with a newborn. Then a week after, I had another episode with bleeding that landed me in the ER for several hours. I was given a prescription to regulate my uterine contractions. Since then, things seem to be getting back to normal. (Minus my sleep, of course. Iām not really sure what that is anymore, lol. In fact, this precious little being I worked so hard bringing into this world is currently asleep next to me. Sheās been asleep most of the day, sheās still too young to try to keep awake to switch her days/nights back around. And my body refuses to sleep after a certain point in the day. So of course Iām not always tired when she is..) But itās all worth it. Every bit of pain I was in, every second, all worth it. She is perfect. Aboslutely perfect. Harper Rowan, 3.17.15, 8lbs, 6oz, 21.5 inches long. The most perfect thing I have ever laid eyes on.

It's Monday morning, 1:07am.
I will be going to the hospital tonight at 5:30 to be prepped for induction, actual induction will start early Tuesday morning. I will be meeting my child in *hopefully* less than 48 hours. I am terrified. But so excited at the same time. And I'm still holding out for a miracle that my water breaks or real labor will start before I have to go in.
