The context and background info behind my Time Twilight Tears (TTT) series! I also answer specific questions from you (here). I will update this as needed. (Edited 2024 February 17)
About
Time Twilight Tears is a collection of comics featuring Time and Twilight in the world of TOTK! Time and Twilight join Wild/Tears on his adventures, while reminiscing on their own past adventures. There isn't a particular order (each "episode" can be read separately), but I always suggest starting from the first part.
Ever since I started playing Tears of the Kingdom, it revived my love for older Zelda games, particularly Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. I began this series initially because of my Wild & Twilight mini series (2017), where Wolf Link becomes human (Twilight Link) and accompanies Wild in BOTW. Time Twilight Tears is the spiritual successor of that (with the addition of Time).
In this series, they're in their 20s. Time and Twilight have already defeated Ganon(dorf) from their eras. Because of that, they love to chime in when they think they know how to solve a puzzle. Twilight is more familiar with the world (as Wolf Link in BOTW) and usually ends up reining in Time when he gets too ambitious/reckless/stubborn.
Time Twilight Tears is an anthology of their adventures together in TOTK, and it's full of laughter and emotions and definitely a labor of love :) I work on TTT in my free time - I do NOT profit from creating these comics; they are completely free and fan-made by me!

▶︎ Why do you call them Time, Twilight, and Wild/Tears instead of "Link"?
These nicknames are from their "Hero" titles ("Hero of Time" and "Hero of Twilight"). Wild/Tears is better known as just Wild, but I call him "Tears" to indicate it's the world of TOTK, rather than BOTW. (Also, so the title would start with all T's lol)
*I realize this naming convention is the same/similar to the Linked Universe (see next question), but this is not to be confused with the Linked Universe.
▶︎ Is this part of the Linked Universe? Will other Links show up?
This is NOT Linked Universe. If you're interested in this AU (the Links join forces and go on adventures together in their own storyline), follow the original creator: linkeduniverse
I do not plan to include other Links in Time Twilight Tears (as the name suggests?), but feel free to imagine them in the world somewhere. Here's how I think Sky would fit in :) And yes, I think Wind would absolutely clown around lol

I live under a rock, so I actually only found out about the Linked Universe in the last few months (summer 2023) because so many people have brought it up to me after seeing my comics.
No, Linked Universe did not inspire Time Twilight Tears.

▶︎ Why does Twilight already know things about the world, and about Wild?
In this series, Twilight is the same Wolf Link from BOTW. So Twilight and Wild/Tears already know each other, and Twilight is familiar with the world. Everything new in TOTK is new to both Tears and Twilight (e.g. Frox, Gleeoks, etc).
▶︎ Why Time and Twilight? How did they end up in TOTK? What is the story?
Twilight is here because of my Wild & Twilight mini series (2017). TTT is the spiritual successor to that (not necessarily a continuation), but with the addition of Time, because his parallels and connection to Twilight are too important to me. (Can you believe Twilight knows two different Links? amazing incredible)
There is no chronological / linear narrative / plot line to TTT.
I wanted each part to work as a standalone comic that highlights moments of their adventures together. I like the openended-ness, because it leaves room for interpretation. You are free to imagine what happens between each part! Because of this, I don't have a specific reason on how they ended up in the world of TOTK lol
For your consideration: With Time! The plot: the Hero's Shade goes back in time to meet Twilight in person and they travel around TP Hyrule together. It's like TTT (they're in their 20s), but in Twilight's Hyrule. It's very sentimental, and is basically just a lot of Time & Twilight bonding. (You can think of it as a prequel to TTT! lol)
▶︎ Is this version of Time also from Majora's Mask? Is this the Child Timeline?
Yes, Time is from the Child Timeline (Ocarina of Time + Majora's Mask). He becomes the Hero's Shade, who is Twilight's mentor in Twilight Princess. The Hero's Shade (Time) is also significantly taller than Twilight, which inspired their height difference.
In TTT, Time is all grown up (he did not travel through time / he's not a child in his grown body), but hasn't lost his eye yet.
▶︎ How did you decide their dynamic?
Time Twilight Tears is a representation of my own headcanon, and is not official in any shape or form. I drew their character sheets here!
Time : (mid/late 20s) childish personality, but hiding a deep sadness and darkness underneath. Will deflect when confronted about things he doesn't want to talk about. He can be serious when the situation calls for it. Tries not to linger on the past.
Twilight : (mid 20s) seems distant and unapproachable, but he's just shy (a country bumpkin). Keeps to himself, but will jump into action if necessary. Has a silly and sassy side that comes out once he warms up to you. Humble and honest. (He's a terrible liar.)
Tears : (20s) seems feral, but only because he's acting on his own without explaining himself. Actually very smart and talented (cooking, crafting, researching, etc). A silent craftsman type who gets easily distracted and hyper-fixated on things.
▶︎ How did you decide what Time and Twilight are wearing? And their weapons?
Their clothes are my attempt to get them to fit into the world of TOTK (like NPCs). I drew their character sheets here! Time's outfit is loosely based on the Champion's Leathers and Hylian Hood, though I included elements from his own tunic set: his boots, gauntlets, and belt over the shoulder. For Twilight, I tried to combine his Ordon outfit with his tunic. For obvious reasons, neither of them have the Master Sword. They do, however, have their items in their invisible inventory (i.e. Hookshot/Clawshot, Hover Boots, Fishing Rod, etc).
Time is using the two-handed Biggoron Sword (OOT); it is an indestructible sword built by the craftsman Biggoron that you only obtain after completing the trade quest. I used the OOT3D model as a reference. (After getting the Biggoron Sword in TOTK, I realized it has its own scabbard and that I’ve been drawing it wrong this whole time lmao…but let’s just say it’s more accurate to the original OOT version? lol)
Twilight is using the Ordon Sword and Ordon Shield. The sword was forged by Rusl, his older brother/adoptive father figure, and inlaid with the horns of an Ordon Goat. The sword was meant to be presented to the Royal Family, but that never happens because of the plot. The shield is something he kinda stole (because Midna told him to lol)
▶︎ Why don't Time and Twilight need to change clothes depending on the weather like Tears?
I was chalking it up to the fact that they didn't have to in their own games (except Time's red "goron tunic" for the Fire Temple, I guess?), like somehow they're not affected by cold/heat lol - Time and Twilight go through their deserts/snowy areas without any special clothing.
Back in the day, I did a part about it for my Wild & Twilight mini series (2017) where Twilight grumbles about needing to change clothes in the Hebra Mountains, when he never had to do that in Snowpeak.
▶︎ Why doesn't Tears ever wear pants?
I like to maintain his quiet, chaotic persona through his lack of pants (lol). I also think it's accurate to how we play the game, i.e. how often he changes clothes (often mismatched) depending on the situation.
▶︎ Why doesn't Tears talk? Why do only Time and Twilight talk?
A few reasons. One, I personally find Wild/Tears to be a "silent craftsman type" who only talks when necessary. He speaks through his actions rather than words.
I know Time and Twilight technically don't speak either (like some kind of Link code lol), but as some have pointed out, I wanted it to be kind of an indicator that they're grown / they've found their voices over time. Also, personality-wise, I imagine Time loves to talk and reminisce. Twilight is more reserved (shy), but he gets loud/talkative about things he feels passionate about (like ranches, Epona, etc).
Two, I personally think making Wild/Tears speak would break the immersion factor? The setting is in TOTK, and I want to maintain that silent persona, as the "Link" of this world. (And, if Wild/Tears were ever to speak, it would be that much more impactful!)
▶︎ How long does it take you to finish one part?
It depends. Sometimes it takes a few days, or a few weeks, or a few months.
I work on TTT in my free time. For this reason, I won't always have the capacity to work on this series due to my schedule, personal life, etc. Also, I don't want to get burnout.
▶︎ Have you read the Legend of Zelda manga? Will there be any references to the manga in this series?
I've read parts of the manga for Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. I remember bits and pieces (like Time befriending Volvagia, or Wind holding up those spiky ball things up to his face to make eyes lmao). I haven't read the manga for Twilight Princess, but I've seen glimpses of Twilight talking to the Hero's Shade and I died (in a good way?).
I do not intend to make any references to the manga in TTT.
