important to say, that now, under all this almost newness,

I can watch my own heart as it beats. I can look at my life more

closely than ever, and how beautiful it is, really, just under the skin,

alive & alive & alive— like a warm moon.

But how do we prepare for a God-size promise, that often times don’t present themselves the way we can see? We need to pray to hear from Him, and then pray it in, like how Elijah prayed in the rain. If Elijah had not prepared in prayer, he wouldn’t have reaped in rain. 

When was the last time we went into our prayer closet and said, “God, I’m not moving until I hear from you?” 

Also, did you notice that the drought actually ended before the rain came? Even though nothing is happening? That small cloud was evident enough to Elijah of God’s promise. Is there a cloud in my life that is not what I’m expecting as the answer to my prayer but it is actually God’s answer? 

And, Elijah has clearly showed us that when we run on faith, we run on the power of the Promise, and we can outrun chariots. 

I truly believe that often times God is waiting for us to prepare for His blessings, because He loves us too much to have us be unprepared for a blessing that He promised but we can’t sustain. 

Elijah prayed in rain, but his prayer also started a new season too. Sometimes, the preparation is obedience. Maybe it’s praying for open hearts, eyes, and ears. Maybe it’s to be reborn. Maybe it’s for chains to be broken. Maybe for all of the above.
