Like if the messaging around tumblr was "We'll never have an algorithm. We'll never sell your data. We'll never be bought by Elon Musk" and then they actually followed through on it all, they could fill a very desperately needed niche in the market. Rebrand tumblr as the not-predatory social media site and people will actually have a reason to check it out other than nostalgia

I think the consensus of the userbase is moving towards "staff is actually doing a pretty good job now for effectively the first time in history" so I don't think it's too far-fetched that they could go in this direction. And now really is the perfect time to do it

I’m not saying clean them every day, just use a bacteria resistant bowl material (stainless steel or properly sealed food safe ceramic) and give a quick hand wash on a regular basis. This is not difficult and this should not be controversial.

The argument against this I saw today was that our pets put so much gross stuff in their mouths why should we wash their bowls? Well:

1.) your pets don’t know what is good or bad for them. They eat (and can get sick) from all those various things they consume including bacterias.

2.) keeping your bowls clean is not only a form of responsible ownership to reduce bacteria and potential harm from your pets, but it also reduces the bacteria YOU come in contact with on a daily basis.

3.) this is a basic husbandry and welfare practice done by veterinarians, zoological facilities, equine centers, listed in proper sled dogs welfare programs etc.

A business woman in the line turns around. She introduces herself, frowning a little because this is so against whatever code she lives her life by. She explains she’s a pharmaceutical exec from New Jersey and that she is visiting some distant relative in North Dakota, and was on the same (now cancelled) flight as me. The whole incident now seems like a fever dream because I truly was sleep deprived and loony. This woman emphasized many times how she was not a caretaker, she was not a warm person. Indeed she was not gregarious or solicitous. But she also very very much was deeply kind to me, much to her own surprise I think. 0 percent maternal, but my extreme patheticness really drew out something she didn’t know was in her.

You have no fucking idea what its like to explain to your kids that yes, they're safe, but yes, someone did just commit a mass murder against students just like them in another Jewish community.

Only to go online and see that every single Jewish school in the country is having the same problem. Because they're "supporting" Trump's election victory. By threatening to bomb every Jewish organization from coast to coast.
