I had a rough year and it shows in my art, but regardless I feel like I grew in a lot of areas!

That aside, this is a really nice improvement. It’s an eye strain if you don’t click on them to look closely but the biggest and best difference is the face. The reason I put this drawing in my redraw pile is because his face was both looking forward and to the side with that nose. The other thing I really like is that he actually looks like a child now. I was able to do a much better job at giving him a soft round face and basically not just “sized-down adult”

Also, as an estimate, this took probably 4 hours total.

fun details: Shine is the most equal to me irl, she has some stretch marks on her thighs, and self harm scars. Jasper is a vampire so I made the spot where he was bit like a permanent bruise, even tho its been over 100 years. and Red is covered in freckles. They all have painted nails courtesy of Shine, and the shadows under their feet and bg stripes are their respective colors.

for so long, I have boasted about my d&d character but NEVER had a picture to show people what she looked like. All I could do was tell them she was inspired by sailor moon. She has a very complicated back story, but basically shes a banished princess and a chaotic neutral. Based on her complicated past she acts like a child and she’s just here to have a good time. She kind of views her banishment as an opportunity to see the rest of the world, AND make a human friend, who are despised by her people.

I’m starting to become very attached to this ship (disclaimer i did NOT draw that bg and i hope its just some anime cap and i didnt steal someones art. this was just sort of a quick piece so)

I was going through one of my first sketch books and found a drawing of twilight sparkle, and remembering I’ve drawn a human version of her recently, this was a great opportunity to compare!!!!! The right side is drawn 3/19/12 and the left is 7/7/17. My ideas for her human design are clearly pretty stagnant, but with the new one I added knee socks and a sparkle hairpin! Its really amazing to see how much better I’ve gotten. (Also fun fact, 2012 twilight has a pile of books, one titled “of mice and mares”)

I’ve only drawn a handful of times this year and I think its bad for me, so I ended up filling three pages at once. (I was watching Naruto at the time but the screen wouldn’t pan to Hinata and I couldn’t remember what she looked like so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

This is WAY late, but I didn’t have a laptop for all of December, and I just now decided I wanted to actually see what I did over the year. Last year I felt like there was no improvement, but this past year I did quite a few redraws with only a year difference, and christ. They’re so DIFFERENT. October and July are actually both redraws from 2016 drawings and they are exponentially better.
