One of your previous posts was about someone complaining about your lifestyle.
I am a huge fan of your work, I've read all of your books but I have to comment on this post of this upset person.
I think everyone should enjoy the life one wants and that's it. Life belongs to no one else, only oneself. And although this person complaining was obviously angry, I have to say that this person's not entirely wrong. I followed your career since the first RQ book came out and I always followed you on Tumblr and Instagram and I pretty much enjoyed your content, especially the reels. :-)
But in my opinion, you changed a lot since you started your career. That people do not stay the same throughout their lives is normal. But it's not just about your books and being a writer anymore, it's also about fashion, sports and lifestyle. You don't make i.e. Q&A anymore or you don't talk about the job as a writer anymore, at least not as much as you used to.
Few of your posts are book / author related and I am a bit sad about it. To be honest, I think many people don't care about what you drink at Coffee Shops or how much time you spend on your Peloton bike (again, you can do what you want, I am not criticising that point). It's just that the people follow you for your books in the first place and your work as an author.
And this is why I understand part of the criticizer's opinion. Again, I think you're a good writer and a good person, it's just a bit strange that you often show parts of your life which have nothing to do with why people started follow you.
I really appreciate your insight and this is something I'm working on immensely. This summer has been a huge slow down in terms of pure writing work, between launching BB, admin, tip ins, family visiting, travel, and getting prepped for the ever-looming wedding. It's all good things, but it's also been extremely stressful and the busiest I've ever been. So I've not been in the brain space to talk about drafting because I'm not able to draft, and it's breaking my heart. My partner can attest - I am very crabby when I can't be stuck into my routine, and I slowly feel like I'm drowning in all the other things I have to do that somehow aren't the BIG THING I have to do.
I'm glad you brought up the Q&As! I actually just ordered a little keyboard for my phone so I can do Q&A's again - I can't really type on phones any more due to my hand injury (I'm not supposed to anyway, and I do my best). But never fear, I'm in physical therapy and hopefully avoiding surgery!
But to your point, lives change. I entered this industry when I was 22 years old, and I'm 32 now. I've changed like we've all changed, and my time is spent differently. I've also never been an account who solely talks about writing. Anyone who followed me through 2016 can attest to that. But I very much know the people who follow my account largely do so because they like my writing - and I should get back into the habit of talking about that as much as anything else.
