U2, The Joshua Tree Era

U2 are my favorite band ever. Today (March 9, 2022) marks the 35th Anniversary of the release of U2's The Joshua Tree, one of the greatest albums of all time. I didn't actually remember that until Matt Nathanson posted about it on Instagram, but I had already finished this birthday gift to myself (sorry, but I'm not selling this set; I've been planning it for about two years and only managed to make it this last week after my birthday). I hope to make a Funko POP recreation of the album cover soon to share with you as well!

MATT NATHANSON?! The "Come and Get Higher" guy? I loved that song when I was a kid! I didn't know that he was a huge fan of theirs until now.

ETA: Holy Shit! I just heard 'Come and Get Higher" after years of not hearing and you can definitely hear the U2 influence, he even sounds like him at times. "Come and Get Higher" sounds like a demo version of "One". It sounds like a song they would have done. Now I love "Come and Get Higher" more than I already do now.

And yeah! I wonder why Funko chose the POP period than TJT. Maybe it was more complete, I guess.

Oh yes! Matt Nathanson even covered the entirety of "Achtung Baby" with his record "Achtung Matty" a few years ago. It's a fun listen, in part because you can really tell how much he loves his craft generally and U2 specifically (and "Achtung Baby" even more specifically).

Nicolas de Lenfent, The Vampire Lestat

I got it into my head that I would make a new vampire custom before Halloween. Well, I was off by a few days, in part because I ended up needing to make a miniature violin by hand.

But I'm pretty pleased with Nikki! Mainly because I proved to myself I can make teeny tiny musical instruments out of toothpicks and Apoxie Sculpt Modeling Compound. 🎻
