I had done this back in November but I never got it posted in time for Heikala's DTIYS contest. I wanted to at least post it before the new year ended.

catch me throwing a fucking party when my boy comes back
You seriously not going to talk about the three times a horse funeral was mentioned on this flyer
Iâve said this before and Iâll say it again but it is absolutely an example of civilizational inadequacy that only deaf people know ASL
âoh we shouldnât teach children this language, it will only come in handy if they [checks notes] ever have to talk in a situation where itâs noisy or they need to be quietâ
My mom learned it because she figured sheâll go deaf when she gets old
My family went holiday SCUBA diving once, and a couple of Deaf guys were in the group. I was really little and I spent most of the briefing overcome with the realization that while the rest of us were going to have regulators in our mouths and be underwater fairly soon, they were going to be able to do all the same stuff and keep talking.
The only reason some form of sign language is not a standard skill is ableism, as far as I can tell.
For anyone interested in learning, Bill Vicars has full lessons of ASL on youtube that were used in my college level classes.Â

Their names, ranks and kills in case people went to know;
First row â Guard Staff Sergeant, VN Stepanova: 20 kills, Guard Sgt JP Belousova: 80 kills, Guard Sgt AE Vinogradova: 83 kills.
Second row â Guard Lieutenant EK Zhibovskaya: 24 kills, Guard Sgt KF Marinkin: 79 kills, Guard Sgt OS Marenkina: 70 kills.
Third row â Guard Lieutenant NP Belobrova: 70 kills, Lieutenant N. Lobkovsky: 89 kills, Guard Lieutenant VI Artamonova: 89 kills, Guard Staff Sergeant MG Zubchenko: 83 kills.
Forth row â Guard Sergeant, NP Obukhova: 64 kills, Guard Sergeant, AR Belyakova 24 kills.
Total number of confirmed kills: 775. Photo taken in Germany, May 4, 1945.
And this hasnât been made into a movie or mini series?
The cool thing is, thereâs still one person missing: Lyudmila Pavlichenko.
She was one of the deadliest snipers of World War II, and is regarded as one of the deadliest snipers of all time. Over the course of one year (June 1941-June 1942) she racked up a count of 309 kills, 36 of which were enemy snipers. Her prescence in the picture alone would have brought the total number of kills from 755 to 1064.

Aprilâs 3 marker challenge from copic marker
please. please do yourself a favor and read this incredibly well-written and thrilling article, written by a woman who willfully sat in a TGI fridays for 14 hours, and ordered far too many mozzerella sticks, in order to see whether or not âendless appetizersâ were truly endless.
i am not kidding you when i say that it is the best thing iâve read in a long time.
Itâs so damn well written please read this
reading this article lowered my quality of life and worsened my mental health and you should absolutely still read it
can I just say this article was my only entertainment during an hour and a half long stretch of internetless imprisonment which is very fitting concerning the articles subject
100-Year-Old Life Hacks That Are Surprisingly Useful Today
People donât often look back on the early 1900âs for advice, but what if we could actually learn something from the Lost Generation? The New York Public Library has digitized 100 âhow to do itâ cards found in cigarette boxes over 100 years ago, and the tips they give are so practical that millennials reading this might want to take notes.
Back in the day, cigarette cards were popular collectibles included in every pack, and displayed photos of celebrities, advertisements, and more. Gallaher cigarettes, a UK-founded tobacco company that was once the largest in the world, decided to print a series of helpful how-toâs on their cards, which ranged from mundane tasks (boiling potatoes) to unlikely scenarios (stopping a runaway horse). Most of them are insanely clever, though, like how to make a fire extinguisher at home. Who even knew you could do that?
The entire set of life hacks is now part of the NYPLâs George Arents Collection. Check out some of the cleverest ones we could find below. You never know when youâll have to clean real lace!

So, my old WiR art is getting a lot of activity lately and iâm laughing
Cudjo Lewis, the last surviving captive of the last slave ship to bring Africans to the U.S.Â
https://www.history.com/news/zora-neale-hurston-barracoon-slave-clotilda-survivor?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#link_time=1525373347
Itâs so significant too that this narrative was collected by Zora Neale Hurston, one of the greatest authors and anthropologists of her time. She was shunned by the âgatekeepersâ of both of these professions, largely because of her Blackness, her womanhood, and her uncompromising commitment to honoring and showcasing both in her works. She died penniless and alone in a state-run institution in 1960. All of her works had gone out of publication by then. It took more than a decade before she was rediscovered. A young author by the name of Alice Walker had come across her work and was deeply inspired by it. âIn 1973, after an exhaustive search, Walker came across Hurstonâs unmarked grave in Ft. Pierce, Fla. She purchased a headstone for Hurstonâs tomb and had it inscribed âA Genius of the South.ââ
It is through Zora Neale Hurstonâs pioneering sacrifice, and the acceptance of that inheritance by Alice Walker that we have found this missing piece of our history. Without the courageous and unfailing work of Black women, we wouldnât have Cudjo Lewisâs story. We are slowly regaining a narrative thatâs been hidden from us, one that continues to be lied about. Trust Black women to lead the way.
