”we want more morally grey characters” bitch you couldn’t even handle the Titan army members aside from silena sit down
This is giving the same energy as others in the fandom who say things like, "I honestly wouldn’t even be mad if Percy were to try and destroy the gods, tbh". Yet they say that Luke trying to destroy Olympus was "evil" or that he acted "immaturely" by doing what he did.
Like please, make up your mind.
Jumbled mess of thoughts ahead
Reminder: The only difference between what Luke did and what Percy would do is that Percy wouldn’t need the help of a Titan to succeed. Like, that’s it. That’s the difference. Not to mention, Percy’s war would be inherently worse because he started it of his own volition. The only reason I can think of as to why the fandom wants Percy to be a villain so badly is because they think it’ll be for Annabeth. The dark romance appeal ig??
I personally think the Gods have crossed too many lines for Percy’s breaking point to be Annabeth tho, and even if it was, Annabeth wouldn’t side with him. Like… she’s afraid of him because she sees pieces of the person that damaged her so badly. If it came down to it, Annabeth’s own righteousness would pit her against Percy, no matter how much they loved each other. Her thought process would be “he’s turned into Luke,” and not “the Gods took Percy from me” like we hope it might be.
Also, think about everything Percy’s been through. The only way I can sum ALL of it up is that Percy is a kid who knew violence too early. Sure, most demigods are too young when they go to war and die, but there’s some shit the Gods have done to him that most demigods wouldn’t even dream of. I mean, the Gods screwing him over gave him Gabe for the first 11 years of his life.
Idk, if you can’t be a Luke apologist even in the slightest bit, you don’t deserve any other demigod villains in the series cuz you obviously can’t take it. They’re all gonna fight the Gods, and they’re gonna be bastards about it

"Luke made the choice to join Kronos. Luke made the choice to betray everyone at camp. Luke made the choice to-." Blah, blah, blah.
Anyways, given that Kronos obviously manipulated Luke into believing that he wanted what Luke wanted (and that was to make life for demigods better and to hold the gods accountable for their actions), only to get Luke to say yes and join him… did Luke really have a choice? It’s states multiple times throughout the first series, by various characters, that Kronos could manipulate even the person with the strongest will power. Hell, Kronos even manipulated Ares! A literal god!
You think that Luke really had any chance of turning Kronos down, especially right after his quest when his emotions were all over the place?
Then let’s not forget that it’s stated right in the books that Kronos would straight up torture Luke with nightmares when he would "fail" or he felt Luke’s loyalty to him wavering. So, if he was punished/tortured whenever he may have wanted to disband the alliance with Kronos… did he really have a choice? Or was he stuck in that awful predicament because of one bad decision that wasn’t even truly his very own decision?
Luke may have thought that he had a choice in the beginning and it may seem that way to Percy and the others. However, it’s made perfectly clear in TTC that all of the "power" that Kronos had given Luke (as far as letting him see over the army in SoM and everything) was really just to pacify Luke and keep him compliant and unquestioning until he was ready to use him as his vessel if things didn’t work out with the fleece.
As far as I see it, Luke stopped having the true ability to make choices after he agreed to join Kronos and that happened before we even see him in TLT. In this essay I will-…
finding out Anakin was 23 years old when he became Vader was so crazy to me. he should've been at the club

The thing about Jason Grace is that he got the ending that the original Jason never got.
He did what his namesake failed to do.
Original Jason broke his vow to love Medea. He thus lost his favour with Hera and died alone and abandoned.
Jason Grace not only kept his promises to love his friends, he died for them.
He never lost the respect of Juno and died a hero surrounded by the people he loved.
Jason Grace who was so afraid to break promises and vows.
Who followed the rules because he was afraid he would be abandoned again.
He did it.
elon musk should kill himself elon musk needs to kill himself elon musk would make society as a whole better if he killed himself now
Anybody can just say my fav's name and i'll be in the post like the viruses in wreck it ralph to the light beam
Gotta re-read the whole PJO just so I can decide for myself whether Luke groomed Annabeth or he just happened to see her as a close one while she was harboring a crush on him because for everything holy on the sky, the fandom likes to use the big gun huh.
This right here! Because I did the same thing when I got back into the fandom and saw everyone saying that Luke groomed Annabeth? I personally just came to the conclusion that people don't know what grooming actually is and that they have just decided to replace the word 'manipulate' with it.
Because in my personal opinion, did he end up manipulating people (more so when Kronos was taking over more)? Yes. Did he groom people? No. If anything, Luke himself was groomed by Kronos 100%.
Grooming is a form of manipulation that’s typically perverted in nature, and always involves some form of emotional, mental, and/or physical abuse. Keyword: perverted. Luke Castellan never abused anyone, nor was he a pervert. He manipulated other demigods, and he started a war that caused trauma, but none of that is any different than what the gods had already been doing for millennia.
@/lukecastellanshandholder pointed it out; if anyone was a groomer, it was Kronos.
He used Luke’s broken childhood and hateful ideas as tools to tear his full autonomy away from him. Percy points out himself that Luke is completely hollowed out by the events of the Last Olympian. He’d had his mind invaded before the Lightning Thief. He forced himself through an endless amount of pain thinking it was right, and would be sent spiraling through his own traumatic flashbacks when he thought about the possibility he was wrong. I mean, Post-Kronos Luke checks every box on the ‘victim’ checklist.
Demigods are weapons that the gods their own parents believed were at their disposal. Luke was exactly that to Kronos, and you can hate him all you want because he was damn good at being the villain, but by the end, it wasn’t even him calling the shots.
Besides, when it did finally end, it was because he killed himself. I can’t ever hate Luke because of that, and it makes me hate the Gods even more because they went unpunished for not only forcing one of their children to that extreme, but for making another of their blood, the one who wanted to save Luke, watch that on his fucking birthday.
Percy grew up to understand Luke suffered for everyone else, and he’s either gonna continue living his life knowing that nobody suffered for Luke, or he’s gonna act on his hatred in ways we might not want to imagine.
“He doesn’t deserve Elysium, it’s reserved for heroes.” Luke did the most redemptive, heroic thing a villain written in 2009 could do.
Someone said the weird Annabeth thing is towards the end of The Last Olympian. I’m gonna scramble to find my copy and report back to y’all tomorrow probably
I’m in a very Percy Jackson mood for some reason & idk why
Not sorry tho hehe

Imagine being seventeen and coming back from a failed quest with a huge scar on your face. You trained every day of your life to please the gods, to please your father, yet you still failed. The gods are no longer interested in you. You feel useless. You are useless -- to them.
You return to a cabin full of unclaimed demigods. As you look out across the crowd, a newfound realization startles you. These campers will always be unclaimed. They will always be sleeping on the floor of a too crowded cabin. The gods do not care for their children.
The younger campers looked up to you before you left. Your failure should have cast you aside but, to your shock, you are not shunned. The campers still want to be you. All of them are still desperate to go on a quest. All of them still want to serve their unknown godly parent. They are desperate to be "The Chosen One" because getting chosen means being noticed.
And as a sea of campers look up at you with shining eyes, you realize that their highest aspirations are to put their lives at risk while running an errand for a parent that does not care.
Wouldn't this fill you with fury? Wouldn't you hate the gods for doing this to their children?
Looking at all of those kids, wouldn't you want better for them? Wouldn't you want them to live in a world where they are loved? Where they are noticed?
What if you could do something about it?
If you had the chance, wouldn't you do everything in your power to make the world a better place for them?
This! This right here! Everything about it! *Chefs kiss* amazing 😌👌😭
Hearing it put like this is HORRIBLE‼️‼️‼️
Like, I’m already always sad thinking about Luke, but reading how things probably felt for him? Soul crushing. Mind numbing. Gut wrenching. Heart shattering. Agonizing.
✨✨Being stabbed through the heart with a thousand knives would hurt less✨✨
