And if Robert had broken the siege and seen Stannis’ efforts to keep Renly alive and Storm’s End secure? If he had shown Stannis any gratitude at all? Had the Brothers Baratheon learned to love one another, their reign might have lasted a little longer.
Please do not ask what I’ve been up to on Twitter
not done with the asoiaf/dhurandhar parallels actually. arya's braavos arc and hamza's journey to pakistan.

I am so talented and writhing in the pits of hell that I have TWO ao3 accounts, one where i write my poetic all consuming homosexual non canon compliant love stories which I can recommend to friends and another where I write my poetic all consuming homosexual non canon smut which I can recommend to friends.
he really is his brother's shadow
he only stepped out of his shadow to reach for hamza
and left rehman in the dark
(none of these are edited btw they just doomed)
⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ dhurandhar 2 spoilers
possible queer coding of Uzair
let me know what you think after reading this.
trust me i’m not saying this is gospel or canon—this just came up while talking to a mutual @miraclejin1204and it stuck with me. This wouldn’t have been complete without their inputs!!
throughout the movie, uzair’s wife is conspicuously absent. like, we know he’s married—she exists, gets a split-second of screen time in d1—but after that, she’s basically gone. and yeah, you could say donga or siyahi’s wives aren’t shown either, but they’re henchmen, their inner lives not being explored makes sense. uzair isn’t that—he’s central, layered, and we do see his emotional and family side. just… never with his wife.
and then there’s the absence of children. for someone in his mid 30s/40s, in that kind of social setup, that’s unusual. especially when he’s clearly shown to be a family-oriented person—he loves his brother, bhabhi, nephew, we see him actively around them. which makes it feel less like “he’s not into family” and more like the marriage itself isn’t… fully lived in. The marriage I’m sure was arranged, by Rehman.
this pattern keeps repeating in really specific ways. in d2, when he’s grieving that badly, his wife still isn’t around. instead, he’s high with another man—and it doesn’t feel like a one-off, it looks like something that’s been going on for a while. even something as small as packing a bag—there’s no wife present. in moments where you’d expect her to exist in the background at the very least, she just… doesn’t.
even during eid, he’s with family—but again, no wife. at hamza’s wedding, where the film does show extended family and background characters, she’s still missing. and this is a film that’s otherwise very intentional about casting and filling out spaces—you see even minor characters existing in the background. so the absence starts to feel deliberate rather than accidental.
and then you look at uzair himself—his world is basically work, the gang, his brother’s family… and then hamza enters. and his dynamic with hamza is interesting. as rehman’s right hand and heir, you’d expect some level of rivalry or guardedness, but that’s not really there. instead, uzair is unusually generous, attentive, almost overly helpful. he gives hamza more time, more energy, more space than you’d expect. there’s a softness there that doesn’t quite match the usual gang hierarchy dynamics.
it starts to feel less like coincidence and more like the film is withholding something on purpose. not stating it outright, but nudging you away from a conventional heteronormative reading.
The only saving grace was Hamza sprinkling “bhai” throughout their interaction in d2, as far as I can recall Uzair never used that word. And in his vocabulary and cultural conditioning “queer” doesn’t exist, so he may have a hard time understanding himself.
so yeah there’s definitely something to read between the lines!!

I wrote something like this while overthinking at 2 am, id love it if people read it.

forgive me lord for i begged you to be kind to me. forgive me lord i because i forgot that kindness wasn't something i wielded, and before it's grim scythe came swinging i beheaded myself.
we still don't know
who the man in the family photos is and why he's only sometimes visible (episode 1)
who killed that man with a screwdriver (episode 8)
what liam did in dublin that made him move to knockdara (the whole damn show)
