“Strawberry and Watermelon!” he confidently answers, turning to see your jaw drop in affirmation when he guesses correctly.

“Yeah!” you confirm, laughing when Donghyuck fist pumps the air in self victory.

“Give me a hard one this time,” he beams in confidence, eyes already closed and ready for the next challenge yet becomes taken aback by the familiar peach scent following your soft lips pressed against his, a lingering taste of your lip balm when you slowly pull away. 

“So what’s your guess?” you ask with a coy smile.

“I think I need to try that again,” he proposes, tugging you closer, and you narrow your eyes at him but weren’t reluctant to the suggestion.

Kiss. “One more?” Kiss. “Again?” Kiss. “Last one?”

You can feel Donghyuck’s smile widen mid-kiss and you abruptly break it, now pushing yourself off his chest before he could deepen the kiss any further. 

“You still have to guess,” you giggle while he lets out a small whine and pouts.

He reluctantly gives in and draws his brows to feign deep thought while his eyes wandering back to your lips. They were soft, pink and completely tempting when you subconsciously lick them in heated anticipation and Donghyuck matches responsively with a bite of his lip to restrain himself. 

“Hm, well it tastes sweet,” he thinks aloud, tipping your chin towards him as his thumb studies the curve of your lips as his own hovers teasingly close. “Just the way I like them.”

You suggestively raise a brow at him. “Want another taste?”

“Yes please,” Donghyuck hastily breathes against your mouth and indulges on the familiar taste of the peach lip balm you like so much and how they part to let him delve deeper as a shy moan slips out muffled by his own low moans. He pulls you closer unto his lap. His hand’s eagerly sprawl upside your body landing on your bare waist beneath your shirt.

“So what’s the verdict?” you ask breathlessly.

“You’re not,” he squeaks, embarrassed at how fast he replied. He steps into the empty hallway as not for the other members to overhear.

“Oh well, I just wanted to call because your mom texted me,” you continued.

“Oh,” is all he manages to say, his initial excitement switching to slight panic.

“Yeah, uhm, she’s asking if I’m coming over for the family dinner tomorrow.” There was a momentary pause as you waited for some reaction. “Didn’t you tell her we broke up?” 

Donghyuck rubs the back of his neck out of guilt. “I forgot to,” he blurts, slapping himself right afterwards for the lame idea of an excuse, and you question him further.

“Well… not exactly?” he continues. 

“Haechan,” you address him. Not Donghyuck. Not even hyuck. Just, Haechan. His stage name. The name politely used when acquainted with other idols or, in this case, simply friends. “You need to tell her.”

“I can’t! Every time I bring you up she starts asking about you and how much she misses you these days. She loves you and I just don’t have the heart to tell her the truth.” And neither does he want to believe it.

“You know we can’t do this. We’ve already tried and look where we ended up,” you try to tell Donghyuck but this doesn’t effect how strongly he felt about you.

“I miss you, y/n.” It felt like his heart was caught in his throat. “I know things got busy for the both of us and touring in the states made things even harder than it already was but I’m willing to try harder for us!”

You start to say something but Donghyuck beats you to it. “At least think about it because all I’ve been able to think about is us since we broke up.” 

“Okay. I’ll think about it over dinner tomorrow,” you answer and the pounding in his chest eases. “And Haechannie?”

He can’t help but to smile a little at the nickname you used to call him. 

“Yeah?”

“I miss you too,” you admit and you can practically hear Donghyuck’s smile widen against the phone.
