But then again, the world of Star Trek also leaves open the option of healing. Nog loses a limb, yet he is healed - consentingly, presumably - but this importantly does not erase the emotional trauma of the event that led to his injury. While the show waves away the physical disability, it lingers on the psychological one. We see characters who are “disabled” by Federation standards and choose to remain as such (Melora), even when presented with the non-eugenics-y option of being “healed”. Melora does not see existing in Federation-standard gravity as being disabled, rather she sees it as reflective of her unique abilities in low-gravity situations. 

And yet we also know that there are cures to numerous human diseases which today do constitute as chronic illnesses, and this too fits in with disability discourse; I would happily give up my chronic illness/pain/disability, if someone could simply “cure” me (eugenics aside) and it seems that I could probably do that within the Star Trek universe. But there is no indication that these cures are ever foisted upon people to reshape their identity. If someone - like Nog - chooses to be healed on the physical level, they can be. If someone - like Barclay - addresses mental illness in more classic, non-invasive methods, they are welcome to it. If someone - like Geordi - embraces their disability as part of their identity, they are free to it. The beauty is in choice.

Also - that whole episode with Melora? I invite people to go look at a behind the scenes pic with the writer of the episode in it. Might notice it's a wheelchair user? Because I did.

The only thing that has ever bothered me about Star Trek episodes with disabilities is that only one actor that I am aware of in the entire series actually had the disability they were portraying - and that was a guest star in Star Trek TNG who was deaf. This only bothers me because disabled actors exist - and they portray their disability differently from abled actors putting emphasis on different aspects of body movement, habits, affectations, etc - and this is because they actually live with their disabilities and thus don't have to put all their effort into portraying the condition itself - they can focus on the emotional aspects etc and just BE disabled. They LOOK different on screen because they are - and disabled actors portraying their disabilities are ridiculously better and underappreciated.

So, I was and still am a huge Claire Wineland fan and only recently found out she passed away in September in 2018…  I was shocked and I cried A LOT… What she had done in life is incredible and she was my idol. So I wanted to make a sim in her tribute but since I wasn’t able to find any nasal tubes cc I tried to make one. 

It’s fairly simple mesh with transparency so it imitates a tube better. I assigned the weights the best I could and apart from just a tiny few poses and animations the mesh works great. 

This is good for you sims with CF, lung cancer and other illnesses. Enjoy. :)

Here’s a new career for your Sims, at Sul Sul Realty. Can you take this small business the distance and make it a name Sims trust?  If you love homes and helping people find the right one, then this is the job for you. You’ll represent buyers and sellers, and maybe even work your way up to owning your very own firm!

You can use MC Command Center to promote your Sim (From a computer in-game, click Cheats>Career>Promote), OR if you have UI Cheats Extension you can right click on a job icon in the career panel to promote or demote your Sim, OR the cheat below if you don’t want to complete the objectives.

To pause a level, and keep your current job title, and if you have MC Command Center, you can “freeze career” under Sim Flags.

There are 10 levels available, as follows;

Receptionist You’re still studying for your real estate licence, and have taken a job at your local realtor’s. For now, you’ll be fielding calls from prospective buyers and sellers, and ensuring the agents call them back regarding the property they’re interested in.

Intern The owner has really taken a liking to you and decided to promote you to Intern. You’ll be learning the ropes, and discovering exactly how to sell a property from start to finish.

Home Stager Your duties as a Home Stager involve decluttering unnecessary items, positioning furniture and decorating the property accordingly. In some cases, you could work with the existing items in the house, but there are projects which you need to rent them or use the supplies that your company already has.

Real Estate Agent As a Real Estate Agent, your primary role is to help clients in buying or selling properties. Now you’re qualified, you’ll be meeting clients at the home they’re interested in, showing them around and convincing them that the dripping pipe they can see WILL be fixed.

Buyer’s Agent Now you’re working primarily for buyers, you first need to understand what are their needs (i.e., budget; the number of bedrooms and bathrooms; means of transportation; proximity to schools, supermarket, and others). Then you will be searching for the properties that match their requirements and bringing them to house viewings. Hope you’re licensed to drive?!

Seller’s Agent When working with sellers, you will advise them on how the real estate market is performing in their neighborhoods and provide them with comparable sell figures. Then you will market the properties to the public. This may include advertising on local newspaper, magazine, social media, or prospecting from the people in your existing network! Get those relationships up!

Property Manager Many people love real estate, but not everyone enjoys or know how to manage their property, and that’s where you come in. As a Property Manager, your role is to manage the day-to-day tasks of a property to ensure everything is working properly for the occupants, be it residential or commercial.

Real Estate Investor Flipping houses, buying and renting out; this is where your hard earned Simoleons are going now. You’re learning which properties have the potential to sell for way more than you’re going to pay!

Real Estate Broker Now you’ve gained so much experience in Real Estate, you’re ready to manage your own firm. Although you’ll still be helping clients with their real estate transactions, your role will gradually transition to managing real estate agents.

Real Estate CEO Congratulations! You’ve reached the top of the Real Estate ladder. You’re now the Chief Executive Officer of Sul Sul Realty, and have turned it into a whole chain! Watch the Simoleon’s come rolling in, you’ve earned them after all your hard work to get here.

You’ll work on a few different skills, but if you don’t want to do these, you can just right-click on them in the career panel to complete them, if you have the UI Cheats Extension Mod (see above) installed.

My technique in sewing medieval clothes without a paper pattern is a little involved, but I like being able to make a garment and have it fit perfectly the first time I put it on, without having to do a fitting even one time.

How do I do this? Two programs - MakeHuman and Marvelous Designer

- I made a perfect 3D model of myself in MakeHuman by using my measurements and height, following this tutorial

- I imported the creepily perfect 3D model of myself into Marvelous Designer.

- I took medieval patterns from the internet, traced them, and resized them to fit the perfect 3D model of me. Like this t-tunic.

or more complicated clothes:

- Cut out the fabric using the same dimensions, adding a seam allowance

- sew it together (correctly the first time, not wasting fabric)

The first time I made a t-tunic, it went over my head and fit perfectly. I made a t-tunic for my brother using this technique, and he didn’t have to be involved in the process at all except for putting it over his head and it fitting perfectly. 

The hard part would be cutting out the fabric for more complicated clothes, but with ancient/custom clothing like this, you’d have to find a way to do that anyway. With this program, you know at least that it’s going to fit your beautiful body, and there’s less chance of wasting expensive linen..
