Volatile variable

I had a thought about robots taking people's jobs. What if there was a law where every person has a robot double. So 1 robot per person (owned by the person). They could send it to work in their stead (or have it do household work if they can't do a human-only job). This would prevent corporations just spamming robot workforce (they would have to pay people backing the robots).

Typically when people talk about robots taking jobs, they are really talking about the problem of ownership. We all know that if robots capable of replacing various jobs (i.e. more than just language models) enter the workforce, the only people irl benefiting would be the handful few owning all of them, hence: robot doubles.

This is just a naive idea, so don't take it too seriously. It wouldn't really fix the underlying problems of modern society. Could be an interesting premise for a sci-fi though.
