The sharp edge of his tongue had dulled at that very moment, the corners of his lips displaying a very apparent frown. His eyes raised to the sky, counting the stars that lay scattered across the dark blue expansion. There was so much the other missed, and so much they didn’t understand.

"I can see why," he said, lifting the blanket of silence that had surrounded the two. "You’re not the one we came to know and understand. She needs time to adjust and think things over. First her brother and then you -– she’s been through a lot. I guess we all have."

Averting his gaze to the starry night sky, sighing heavily,

❝I—It's true, and I really don't like it about myself, but the things that happened while I was gone, changed my outlook on... —being a ghoul itself. I used to think that people could change; without violence. With simple reasoning. Of course I realized that I'd been wrong too late, I was held captive, for who knows how long, I lost track long before I— lost it...❞

Her brother, he wasn't too bad from what he'd seen, he knew Toka's brother was still in there somewhere, the smaller things were easily noticeable.

Hands in the pockets of her shorts, the young ghoul sighed. Loneliness was a sensation that would stick to her soul forever, one she thought that she would inevitably have to get used to. A thundering sound made her head snap up. Running to the source, Toka rounded corners, alleys, intersections… until she finally came to it.

Her eyes were surely deceiving her. Her feet remained rooted in place, searching over the bodies that lay on the floor. Her kind, her own kind; the species she had been trying to keep alive - to give help. The blood coated the ground, trickling down the concrete and into the sewers.

 Staring, her eyes shifted to the male standing there. Beginning to walk forwards, Tōka`s expression shifted into a scowl. What happened to you? Where did you go? Why did you have to change? Why is everything so confusing now?

A million questions ran through her head, but none of them rolled off of her tongue. Her eyes shifted back to the dead bodies and then, flaming with anger, landed back to him.

❝I—...❞

He tried speaking up only to be silenced before he could say anything, her voice did not sound forgiving, she was angry, and she had reason to be, he was becoming the type of ghoul everyone disliked, one that killed for fun. She'd already drifted away from him slowly, ever since his return, she'd turned the cold shoulder..
