the βaffirmationsβ the official shark week instagram posted are really funny. like yeah Mecore tbh
I also love the implication the cuck scene gives that vox has an office in his bedroom. This guy
RIGHT. This is in addition not only to his normal office, but his whole basement surveillance set-up + the multi-screen arrangement he has right in the middle of Val's living room, for some reasonβwhich, granted, Val clearly uses sometimes too, but let's be honest with ourselves, we know who put it there and who it's for. I'm convinced the only reason we didn't see him with a dedicated space in Vel's potion room is that she's made it VERY clear she'll fight him to the death before letting him fuck up her color scheme. They still play out this argument at least once a week.
I love this because not only does it speak to his pathological workaholism, but it is also??? strangely cute??? loser television doesn't like to be alone so he's contrived ways to take his work into pretty much any non-public space Val or Velvette might have reason to occupy. Especially with the way he basically dragged Alastor along with him literally everywhere like an emotionally abusive 24/7 security blanket during S2, I'm imagining him just. Quietly and casually shadowing Val or Vel pretty much any time it is possible to do so without other people noticing. Like a puppy who does paperwork instead of playing. I bet he gets weird and cranky any time either he or the two of them are too busy/tied up with public-facing work for him to persistently hover. he just! likes to be around them, okay!
got immensely distracted answering this one because now I'm just thinking of Vox being low-key autophobic, partly for a lot of the same reasons he's such an intense workaholic and high stimulation seekerβthe moment there's nothing external distracting him, he starts slipping into dangerous negative thought spirals. But also if he's physically isolated too long and in a low enough mood the figurative insecurities surrounding abandonment and rejection start to become very literal. Because what if no one ever comes back for him? If he just stayed here, would anyone miss him enough to seek him out? Are they using his absence to talk about him behind his back? Or have they forgotten him entirely? Is a person even real when there's nobody around fo see them?
... Anyway. I think there's amazing potential to do some very fucked up stuff with this post-s2. Even if Val and Velvette aren't actively icing him out, which they very well might be, they can't be physically present all the time and Vox is. very fragile at the moment! and because he's so lacking in autonomy, whether that's due to being literally disembodied or just a natural consequence of being ousted from his position + on Vees-brand suicide watch + the vast majority of the population wanting him dead, he can't just come out and be around other people until he feels better. And I think this should be doing very bad things to his overall mental state
I want to follow him around like a cat and run in front of his feet and trip him
him and that damn hat

how it feels to blorbify an opera buffa servant except we are literally objectively correct
Hellβs Hottest pt2 β€οΈ
Also just to be clear until Vivziepop shows up at my door and tells me Iβm wrong (or well, until s3 happens) I will not immediately assume that Voxβs feelings used to be unreciprocated. Alastor has never been shown to be genuine and still that bar scene had him looking like he was seeing Vox through a shojo manga filter. Alastor Hazbin Hotel I know what you are (a mess)
I know it's talked about a lot that Vox stood up to Lucifer with no fear because he already had the information that Lucifer couldn't do anything to harm him, but I feel like we need to talk about the fact that he did not know whether or not Sera could hurt him and he still stood up against her.
And like, he was not being subtle or shy about it either.
This man full on taunted and threatened a fucking seraphim angel. Without having an inkling of knowing if he would be safe from her wrath if she chose to use it on him.
Mind you, despite being an overlord, he is still just a human soul. And even overlord status is far below the power of a seraphim angel. And yet he still did it.
Like god damn, Vox.
You say that, but he knows Sera can hurt him. He would have no reason to think she couldn't. Why would any of them believe the only angels able to harm Sinners are Exorcists?
Vox knew she could strike him down, but being seen as the one standing up for Hell (even if it was only for his own ego) was more important to him by then. He was likely high on the adrenaline of showing off to the public with what he did with Lucifer, but whether he was in his right mind or not... He wanted to be right more than unhurt.
And that comes full circle to S2E8, where we see the full extent of how he will hurt himself in order to get what he wants. And what he wants most in the moment can change radically.
I think S2E8 was less about him getting what he wants, and more that he'd lost everything, so he had nothing left to lose. It was more like "was willing to kill himself because he'd lost what he wanted."

Alastor realizing he's in love with Vincent: WHAT ARE THESE AWFUL FUCKING FEELINGS I HATE THESE WEAKNESSES DISGUSTING I HATE THIS
Very Vox coded if you ask me π
