Armed bog ladies

today’s funky frog of the day is: leptobrachium lunatum! commonly known as the cresent moon spadefoot frog, they are only found in the forests of northeastern cambodia and central vietnam. previously, they were thought to be apart of another species of red-eyed frog, but while a recent study was being made on where they are distributed, scientists realized they were dealing with an entirely different species altogether. unfortunately for these newly-described frogs, the region they live in is under threat from deforestation, but conservation efforts are already starting to be made. not much is known about their behavior, but it is assumed to be similar to other frogs in the genus leptobrachium.
