i’ve not seen a lot in the media about this so i’m going to do my best to put this into words and explain what will happen if the government is successful in replacing the human rights act with the bill of rights (aka the rights removal bill).

this will mean that in the uk:

you won’t be allowed to say anything negative about the government

if you are disabled or chronically ill, you won’t be allowed to say no to being given a DNR in hospital

you won’t be allowed to bring ‘trivial’ human rights violations to court

public authorities (the police) won’t have to actively protect people’s human rights

the uk military will be allowed to basically do whatever they want overseas

if you ever commit a crime, they can disregard your human rights

the government will not be obligated to obey human rights

Hey Everyone! I’ve noticed fanfiction for the show favours males heavily {which I get they’re handsome but it’s really sad there not a lot for female characters} so I wanted to share this amazing fic. It’s a Lexie Grey x Oc Set during season 6. It’s funny, angsty and dramatic like the good old days. Within a year, the statue had sustained so much damage that it was unrecognizable and the lettering unreadable, so eventually the council came and took it down. Also apparently, the person in the Hi-Vis vest didn't even work for the council. They were supposedly just some 'good samaritan' who cleaned it, often before the council even discovered it needed cleaning, so they just let them do it and ignored the problem. They didn't bother putting the statue up again.

Thor’s friends: “Phew, it’s a good thing that guard told Odin where to find us!”

Loki: “I told him to do that.”

“Loki’s always been one for mischief, but you’re talking about something else entirely,”  

“Why is it every time you choose to speak it has to be something dark and ominous?”

“And tell him what? ‘Oh, by the way, we think your son just betrayed the throne. And do us a favor. Bring back Thor. There’s a good fellow!’" 

“It’s treason, Hogun!”

Loki: I told the guard. 

 Sif & W3:

The room grew silent.

“All this food,” Volstagg said, eyeing the remains of a large cake. “So innocent. Cast to the ground. It breaks the heart.”

Thor shot him a look so cold that Volstagg took a step back as if he had been hit. Glancing around the room, Volstagg’s gaze fell on Loki. He nodded at Loki as if to say, Can you please do something about your wild brother?

As if on cue, a few more Frost Giants stepped into view. This was not good.

Lady Sif seemed to feel the same way. She shot Loki a look, hoping Thor’s younger brother would take the hint. He needed to say something—now.

Yet when Loki takes charge in this instance and takes measures to ensure their safe return in the event that he can’t control Thor’s temper in such a high risk circumstance, they view him as a traitor. Nice.

It’s further worth noting that when Sif implores Loki to advocate on Thor’s behalf, he could have told them that he’d already tried to intervene. It would have had the benefit of being true and made him look less suspect. But he doesn’t. He instead makes the point that, you know what, maybe this isn’t the worst thing. And they know he’s right. Directly from the script:

The others exchange glances, torn. Loki has a point.

The way Thor’s firends disrespect Loki is amazing. Even tho he saved their lives in different times, like the time Loki talks about in the deleted scene before Thor’s coronation. Thor took the credit for what Loki did and no one contested that, of course.

“Do you think he’s ready?” Odin asked, his voice deep with emotion.

She looked at him and nodded slowly. “Thor has his father’s wisdom,” she said, knowing that was what he needed to hear. But Odin’s expression remained worried, so she added, “He won’t be alone. Loki will be at his side to give him counsel.”

It’s kind of implied that, really, Loki is the one who’s going to be running things anyway, in a sense (at least until the time comes for whatever the hell Odin’s been plotting since he stole him). He won’t be calling the shots, no, but it’s expected that Thor will be relying heavily on his counsel. And I’m just thinking about how this status quo they’ve had going on for centuries—this thing where Loki does all the work while Thor takes all the glory, as reflected in that aforementioned deleted scene—was what Loki had to look forward to forever.

And you know what? He was okay with that. He didn’t disrupt the coronation with the expectation that it was going to change anything long term—merely delay it for a bit. He says so himself:

“That was just a bit of fun, really. To ruin my brother’s big day, and to protect the realm from his idiotic rule for a while longer.”

Not forever. Just for a while. This idea people have that Loki is self-interested, that he doesn’t care about anyone else and only looks out for his own interests. On the one hand, I get it. He’s self-reliant; no one else has ever looked out for his interests, so there’s an expectation that he should be looking out for himself. But the thing is… the canon doesn’t really support that. This? What he was ready to put up with for the rest of his life if necessary? If that isn’t selflessness, I genuinely don’t know what is. And I don’t think it’s diminished just because he wanted to put it off for a little longer.

That he offers the throne at all is just further proof he didn’t care for it himself and was only stalling Thor’s rule. He doesn’t see it as his place nor does he have any use for the throne, he literally just didn’t want Thor to wage wars foolishly and be crowned when he was approaching every issue hammer-first. The tiniest bit of improvement in that attitude (”no killing, Loki”, *commits treason to save lives this time*, *doesn’t see no fault in Odin*, etc.) deems him fine for the job in Loki’s eyes, and maybe as Odin he would have even stayed to guide Thor as the role he would’ve had but eventually left, who knows, he tends to do what is better for Asgard a lot.

My main issue with Thor is he won’t get out of Odin‘s ass. No matter what he finds out about Odin or what Odin does to him he still thinks he’s oh so wonderful. But he condemns Loki for doing a lot less. It seemed that at the end of TDW he was finally beginning to understand what a dick Odin was but then in Ragnarok he goes right back to “Odin is perfect”. Last time he had seen Loki had saved his and Jane’s life, and last time he had seen Odin Odin had tried to kill him. But that didn’t matter-he immediately tries to kill Loki (who he claimed to have a mourned) and only cares about what happened to Odin. He’s sort of acknowledges Odin fucked up when he’s talking to Hela but in the end he still acts like he worships him. He doesn’t have to totally hate him but he does at least need to acknowledge that Odin did a lot of wrong and quite a bit of it was to Loki (and yes Hela too, as well as all the places he conquered). You can love someone and still acknowledge the bad shit they did. Until he does that, I just can’t bring myself to have much respect for him.

And as the Thor: Heroes & Villains guide states

He has tried his best to be a good brother to Thor and a son Odin could be proud of.

Yet the only reason we’re given for their suspicions is that Loki is powerful enough to sneak a few Jötnar into Asgard without anyone noticing. Which ok, cool, nice to have his skill as a sorcerer acknowledged, I guess, even if it’s framed in a negative light. But that’s literally it. That’s their whole reasoning. That Loki is understandably jealous of his brother but not in a way that has ever caused him to try to harm Thor before (Ragnarok and its retconning can rot in hell) and he’s skilled enough to pull off such a scheme. They go from “Loki could do it” to “only Loki has reason to do it” to “Loki must have done it and all of Asgard is in danger as a result” (???) in record time, all without knowing anything about his Jötun heritage. Just imagine if they had.

And even after the truth is revealed, Thor seems to believe less that Loki does bad things because he’s Jötun and more that it’s because he’s been inexplicably driven mad by jealousy. That’s, in fact, what makes his behaviour all the more baffling and, frankly, frustrating. Thor’s parting words to Loki in TDW—"I’ll tell Father what you did here today"—suggest that he does understand, at least on a superficial level, the cause of Loki’s mental collapse. Yet he never considers addressing this outside of when Loki is dying in his arms. He never considers validating Loki’s sense of betrayal, acknowledging that they were treated differently or that Odin and Frigga were wrong to lie to him all these centuries. Not only does he not acknowledge it; he actively invalidates it, calling it “imagined slights”.

the situation there is dire, its not an exaggeration to say most of the country was underwater. the damage is extensive, and it is going to take a lot of money and work

the rule is unwritten, but very enforced. like, there are online communities dedicated to erasing any trace of the spread of his identity. a tourist takes a photo of him and posts it online? it's gone in minutes, and people send DMs to the poster anywhere from "hey, i'm sure you were just excited, but...." to "ill kill u if i evr c you, fuckin bitch".

any information on spider-man is only spread via word of mouth, and only spoken in hushed, awed voices. after several years of spider-man, everyone knows someone who encountered him:

"he saved my cousin. caught a falling billboard from underneath with his bare hands..."

"wow... i've never seen him myself, but he talked to my coworker's daughter for an hour after he stopped a guy from getting a little too handsy. apparently, his smile is 'dreamy'."

these secrets are freely given if you're kind, trustworthy, and show respect for the little guy. but the moment you demand information on him... "i don't know what you're talking about, buddy. he's just an urban legend the news likes to blame the city's problems on so we don't unionize or worse"
