the uk government is trying to scrap the human rights act.
iāve not seen a lot in the media about this so iām going to do my best to put this into words and explain what will happen if the government is successful in replacing the human rights act with the bill of rights (aka the rights removal bill).
this will mean that in the uk:
you wonāt be allowed to say anything negative about the government
if you are disabled or chronically ill, you wonāt be allowed to say no to being given a DNR in hospital
you wonāt be allowed to bring ātrivialā human rights violations to court
public authorities (the police) wonāt have to actively protect peopleās human rights
the uk military will be allowed to basically do whatever they want overseas
if you ever commit a crime, they can disregard your human rights
the government will not be obligated to obey human rights
if you are from the uk PLEASE sign this petition, and also to everyone else, please please please share this.

Hey Everyone! Iāve noticed fanfiction for the show favours males heavily {which I get theyāre handsome but itās really sad there not a lot for female characters} so I wanted to share this amazing fic. Itās a Lexie Grey x Oc Set during season 6. Itās funny, angsty and dramatic like the good old days. Sadly as itās a Lexie x someone other than Mark it doesnāt get a lot of love [despite Mark x oc fics being so popular]. All the Characters are in character and arenāt butchered. Plus the interactions and friendships are amazing! Please read and comment the author needs some love theyāve written a amazing fic despite little feedback.please can you also reblog and spread the word

In the town where I grew up, there was a large statue in one of the parks, of a famous historical white colonizer. I'm not going to say who specifically, suffice it to say that it was someone who wasn't worth memorializing for their deeds. And as you can imagine, this statue was a frequent target of vandalism, with paint or toilet paper or eggs on multiple occasions. Now, the local council was generally pretty lax when it came to repairing potholes or other public damage in the town, but every time, 24 hours after this particular statue was hit, the same person would always appear in a Hi-Vis vest, hat, mask and sunglasses, carrying a bucket of water, and wash it clean. They would do it as quickly as possible, but always made sure the face and the name carved at the bottom were generously scrubbed. This only encouraged people to do it again, and so it became a vicious cycle.
Within a year, the statue had sustained so much damage that it was unrecognizable and the lettering unreadable, so eventually the council came and took it down. Also apparently, the person in the Hi-Vis vest didn't even work for the council. They were supposedly just some 'good samaritan' who cleaned it, often before the council even discovered it needed cleaning, so they just let them do it and ignored the problem. They didn't bother putting the statue up again.
Much later, we found out that the anonymous 'samaritan' had been deliberately washing the statue with a bucket of saltwater, which had dramatically corroded it, causing irreversible accumulative damage far worse than spray paint ever would have done. It's even theorized that they were also often the one spray-painting it, just so that they had an excuse to come back after a day to wash it.

Itās hard, if I had more free time I could make it so pretty, this is what I could throw together for the assignment.
Thor (2011) really be like
Thorās friends: āPhew, itās a good thing that guard told Odin where to find us!ā
Loki: āI told him to do that.ā
Thorās friends: āAGSKDFHLF! TRAITOR! MISCREANT! HOW DARE!ā
Okay, but Fandral actually defended Loki when Hogun implied that Loki let the frost giants into Asgard
Fandral still goes along with everything but i give him half a point for:Ā
āLokiās always been one for mischief, but youāre talking about something else entirely,āĀ Ā
āWhy is it every time you choose to speak it has to be something dark and ominous?ā
āAnd tell him what? āOh, by the way, we think your son just betrayed the throne. And do us a favor. Bring back Thor. Thereās a good fellow!ā"Ā
āItās treason, Hogun!ā
Other than that he doesnāt seem to respect Loki any more than the others, even when Loki is king š
Loki basically gets villain coded in-universe as well as out. Sif and the W3 are sitting around likeĀ āwhat a wonderful thing that someone told that guard saved all our livesā so Loki naturally thinks itās his time to shine and actually get some credit and appreciate for once. But as soon as they find out Loki is the one that told they immediately think it was bad purely because he did it.
Loki: I told the guard.Ā
Ā Sif & W3:
You ever wonder what might have happened if instead of talking down to him and immediately conspiring to depose him, Thorās friends had just like⦠congratulated Loki and asked how they could be of service to him?
Maybe it wouldnāt have mattered. Maybe the damage had been done and Loki was already too far gone. Guess weāll never know, huh?
@nikkoliferousĀ Ā Yes, I did. My answer is maybe W3 arenāt much of Thorās friends as theyād like to believe. Youād think they know better than this childish attitude āletās get Thor back on Asgard so we can go on with our stuffā; āZoinx! we canāt because of Loki, let us defy him, even if heās our kingā. Youād think they would respect the kingdom by adapting to the whole new context which implies Loki as the new king. Itās what I expect from a warrior, to serve and protect his kingdom. But then again, they are Thorās friends, so evaluating consequences itās not their style? Sif loves and supports Thor unconditionally. This weights for sure.Ā
You wanna know the hilarious thing? The Thor: Heroes & Villains guide describes Sif as āa voice of reasonā whoās willing to tell Thor things he doesnāt want to hear. Lmao
It seems clear to me that Sif and the W3ās loyalty to Thor supersedes their loyalty to Asgard. They werenāt concerned that Loki would destroy Asgard (thatās simply how they rationalised their treason) so much as they were concerned that Lokiāwho, despite being no less a prince than Thor, they are so used to seeing as inferiorāwas suddenly taking up the space their beloved leader friend was meant to. Clearly, something must be done about this. How else do you go from āLoki is jealous of Thorā to āLoki is a danger to the entire kingdomā? To them, Thor is the entire kingdom.
Itās ironic because when Loki saysĀ āI love Thor far better than any of youā they dismiss it as a lie. But itās so accurate. Not only does he love Thor, but he really does care about him more deeply than Sif and the W3. He sees Thor fully and completely in a way they donāt - not only his strengths but also his weaknesses. He cares about Thor enough to try to talk him out of doing things he thinks are wrong or foolish. On Jotunheim Thor snaps at Loki to know his place when he tries to intervene, but Loki still tries to diffuse the situation and almost succeeds. None of the others question Thor at all or try to take action. But Loki does, because he cares. He cares about Asgard. And he cares about Thor. And he cares enough to make difficult choices and to tell Thor things heĀ doesnāt want to hear.
Loki doesnāt want the throne. He knows Thor isnāt ready for it either. But he also truly believes that one day he can be. He sees Thor not just as he is but as he could be. He knows his potential. Ā Loki loves Thor enough to believe he can do better and be more.
Even richer when you consider that, at least according to the Phase One: Thor novelization, Thorās friends regularly look to Loki to reason with Thor when heās getting out of control.
The room grew silent.
āAll this food,ā Volstagg said, eyeing the remains of a large cake. āSo innocent. Cast to the ground. It breaks the heart.ā
Thor shot him a look so cold that Volstagg took a step back as if he had been hit. Glancing around the room, Volstaggās gaze fell on Loki. He nodded at Loki as if to say, Can you please do something about your wild brother?
and
As if on cue, a few more Frost Giants stepped into view. This was not good.
Lady Sif seemed to feel the same way. She shot Loki a look, hoping Thorās younger brother would take the hint. He needed to say somethingānow.
Yet when Loki takes charge in this instance and takes measures to ensure their safe return in the event that he canāt control Thorās temper in such a high risk circumstance, they view him as a traitor. Nice.
Itās further worth noting that when Sif implores Loki to advocate on Thorās behalf, he could have told them that heād already tried to intervene. It would have had the benefit of being true and made him look less suspect. But he doesnāt. He instead makes the point that, you know what, maybe this isnāt the worst thing. And they know heās right. Directly from the script:
The others exchange glances, torn. Loki has a point.
But they throw him under the bus anyway, immediately turning the conversation to his jealousy and the sudden assumption that heās not just a bad brother but a traitor to the Crown(??). To their credit, Fandral and Volstagg at least express some hesitation before climbing on board the Good Ship Scapegoat. But it doesnāt take long for the entire thing to snowball. Haha. Ice pun.
This, all of this.
The way Thorās firends disrespect Loki is amazing. Even tho he saved their lives in different times, like the time Loki talks about in the deleted scene before Thorās coronation. Thor took the credit for what Loki did and no one contested that, of course.
Everyone disrespect Loki, as if heās not a prince, just like Thor. Heimdall, that guard that delivered Lokiās message to Odin almost half an hour late (donāt remember exactly but, anyways), his own āfriendsā⦠and his father treats him like shit. Perfect
I was thinking about that scene (āwell, there was that time in Nornheimā¦ā) and about the scene between Odin and Frigga that takes place before Thorās coronation.
āDo you think heās ready?ā Odin asked, his voice deep with emotion.
She looked at him and nodded slowly. āThor has his fatherās wisdom,ā she said, knowing that was what he needed to hear. But Odinās expression remained worried, so she added, āHe wonāt be alone. Loki will be at his side to give him counsel.ā
Itās kind of implied that, really, Loki is the one whoās going to be running things anyway, in a sense (at least until the time comes for whatever the hell Odinās been plotting since he stole him). He wonāt be calling the shots, no, but itās expected that Thor will be relying heavily on his counsel. And Iām just thinking about how this status quo theyāve had going on for centuriesāthis thing where Loki does all the work while Thor takes all the glory, as reflected in that aforementioned deleted sceneāwas what Loki had to look forward to forever.
And you know what? He was okay with that. He didnāt disrupt the coronation with the expectation that it was going to change anything long termāmerely delay it for a bit. He says so himself:
āThat was just a bit of fun, really. To ruin my brotherās big day, and to protect the realm from his idiotic rule for a while longer.ā
Not forever. Just for a while. This idea people have that Loki is self-interested, that he doesnāt care about anyone else and only looks out for his own interests. On the one hand, I get it. Heās self-reliant; no one else has ever looked out for his interests, so thereās an expectation that he should be looking out for himself. But the thing is⦠the canon doesnāt really support that. This? What he was ready to put up with for the rest of his life if necessary? If that isnāt selflessness, I genuinely donāt know what is. And I donāt think itās diminished just because he wanted to put it off for a little longer.
Forgive my ramblings. Apparently, I have an inordinate number of Loki Feels today paired with an unfortunate inability to shut up. š
All good points, and that in Thor 2 Loki asks āAnd what of Thor? Youāll make that witless oaf king while I rot in chains?ā could be both to shift the topic of conversation while bringing up the issue of having Thor rule on his own after Loki hasnāt exactly seen much change in him (re: his behaviour in Avengers 1), which could leave him still a hazard if put in charge of all the realms. This time around though Loki doesnāt put any effort to stop that from happening, and offers him the throne which Thor himself rejects.Ā
That he offers the throne at all is just further proof he didnāt care for it himself and was only stalling Thorās rule. He doesnāt see it as his place nor does he have any use for the throne, he literally just didnāt want Thor to wage wars foolishly and be crowned when he was approaching every issue hammer-first. The tiniest bit of improvement in that attitude (āno killing, Lokiā, *commits treason to save lives this time*, *doesnāt see no fault in Odin*, etc.) deems him fine for the job in Lokiās eyes, and maybe as Odin he would have even stayed to guide Thor as the role he wouldāve had but eventually left, who knows, he tends to do what is better for Asgard a lot.
āThor must strive to undo the damage you have done, he will bring order to the nine realms and then, yes, he will be king,ā hits hard because Odin is really still going to go through with making Thor king without trying to make him any more suitable for the throne, which is shocking because even Odin had problems with Thor the last time Loki checked.Ā
I havenāt seen people cite any actual evidence that Loki is selfish but have seen many people say he isĀ #the evidence⦠i would like⦠to see it⦠#absolutely no one has to say anything for people to assume the worst of loki and itās very :// #Ragnarok has Heimdall be nice which is interesting #I liked that #I feel like it implied Heimdall saw what Loki was doing as king and didnāt disapprove #so thatās nice #at least #THOR though with his āu dont change lokiā speech just straight up obliterates all hope for him as king unfortunatelyĀ (tags via @worstloki)
honestly itās frustrating because I more or less want to like everybody (with the exception of Odin, sometimes), and typically I do, but this is alsoā¦exactly what happened and thereās really no arguing with that. things could have turned out so much differently if Sif and the Warriors Three (and Heimdall to some extent, for that matter) had, like, thought things through? given Loki a chance? and itās frustrating that thereās never a point where they have to confront the role they played in the death of their friendās little brother as anything more nuanced than āobviously he was evil from the beginning and we only did what we had to doā, to the extent that they seem to think about Loki after the fact at all. :/
Once it came out he was Jotun everyone just assumed anything bad he did was because of that. Here we have evidence that before he snapped he was often the reasonable one while Thor was the hothead. Iām pretty sure theyāre going to try to recon this. They already partially have.
My main issue with Thor is he wonāt get out of Odinās ass. No matter what he finds out about Odin or what Odin does to him he still thinks heās oh so wonderful. But he condemns Loki for doing a lot less. It seemed that at the end of TDW he was finally beginning to understand what a dick Odin was but then in Ragnarok he goes right back to āOdin is perfectā. Last time he had seen Loki had saved his and Janeās life, and last time he had seen Odin Odin had tried to kill him. But that didnāt matter-he immediately tries to kill Loki (who he claimed to have a mourned)ļæ¼ and only cares about what happened to Odin. Heās sort of acknowledges Odin fucked up when heās talking to Hela but in the end he still acts like he worships him. He doesnāt have to totally hate him but he does at least need to acknowledge that Odin did a lot of wrong and quite a bit of it was to Loki (and yes Hela too, as well as all the places he conquered). You can love someone and still acknowledge the bad shit they did. ļæ¼Until he does that, I just canāt bring myself to have much respect for him.
I can imagine if Thor actually said to Loki that he understood that Odin did a lot of wrong and that Loki was right to be angry at him Loki would probably be speechless from shock.
The thing is, this is how he was treated before anyone but Odin and Frigga knew he was Jƶtun. So we canāt even blame it on Asgardās racism. Narratively, the way Loki is treated makes little sense because given what weāre told of Lokiās history, thereās absolutely no reason to suspect him of plotting to steal the throne and sell Asgard to the Jƶtnar or whatever nonsense Thorās friends cooked up in their heads. As Fandral himself says,
ā[Lokiās] always been one for mischief, but youāre talking about something else entirely.ā
And as the Thor: Heroes & Villains guide states
He has tried his best to be a good brother to Thor and a son Odin could be proud of.
Yet the only reason weāre given for their suspicions is that Loki is powerful enough to sneak a few Jƶtnar into Asgard without anyone noticing. Which ok, cool, nice to have his skill as a sorcerer acknowledged, I guess, even if itās framed in a negative light. But thatās literally it. Thatās their whole reasoning. That Loki is understandably jealous of his brother but not in a way that has ever caused him to try to harm Thor before (Ragnarok and its retconning can rot in hell) and heās skilled enough to pull off such a scheme. They go from āLoki could do itā to āonly Loki has reason to do itā to āLoki must have done it and all of Asgard is in danger as a resultā (???) in record time, all without knowing anything about his Jƶtun heritage. Just imagine if they had.
And even after the truth is revealed, Thor seems to believe less that Loki does bad things because heās Jƶtun and more that itās because heās been inexplicably driven mad by jealousy. Thatās, in fact, what makes his behaviour all the more baffling and, frankly, frustrating. Thorās parting words to Loki in TDWā"Iāll tell Father what you did here today"āsuggest that he does understand, at least on a superficial level, the cause of Lokiās mental collapse. Yet he never considers addressing this outside of when Loki is dying in his arms. He never considers validating Lokiās sense of betrayal, acknowledging that they were treated differently or that Odin and Frigga were wrong to lie to him all these centuries. Not only does he not acknowledge it; he actively invalidates it, calling it āimagined slightsā.
And this is all part of whatās so frustrating for me as an audience member and I suspect for Loki as well. That heās recently learned something Earth-shattering about himself but everyone around him just keeps plugging their ears and going, ālalala, I canāt hear you!ā No one is willing to acknowledge how devastating this revelation has been for Loki. Frigga and Thor both brush it aside as if itās barely worth acknowledging, but it is to Loki. Itās fractured his entire sense of who he is and everyone around him just insists on acting like itās no big deal.

goddd i just want spider-man's identity to be his own worst but new york city's best kept secret. like i want him unthinkingly taking off his mask and like 20 people see, but if you ask them if they did? no they didn't.
the rule is unwritten, but very enforced. like, there are online communities dedicated to erasing any trace of the spread of his identity. a tourist takes a photo of him and posts it online? it's gone in minutes, and people send DMs to the poster anywhere from "hey, i'm sure you were just excited, but...." to "ill kill u if i evr c you, fuckin bitch".
any information on spider-man is only spread via word of mouth, and only spoken in hushed, awed voices. after several years of spider-man, everyone knows someone who encountered him:
"he saved my cousin. caught a falling billboard from underneath with his bare hands..."
"wow... i've never seen him myself, but he talked to my coworker's daughter for an hour after he stopped a guy from getting a little too handsy. apparently, his smile is 'dreamy'."
these secrets are freely given if you're kind, trustworthy, and show respect for the little guy. but the moment you demand information on him... "i don't know what you're talking about, buddy. he's just an urban legend the news likes to blame the city's problems on so we don't unionize or worse"
so as many times as spider-man ends up with out a mask, or accidentally introduces himself with a name that starts with 'p' and rhymes with 'meter'... on the record, they don't know a thing. because he does his best to help as many people as he can, so it's only fair if they help him a little in return.
There was a fic ages ago of Peter unknowingly meeting people from train he saved and then helping him out without saying they know who he is
