Will and Winston reunite
Ever since Sol Sol said she refused to put the "code" in Lunar after Fazbear approached her with it, I've been suspicious of C-Dog. We know he took over Lunar's maintenance once she stopped working for the company, it checks out that Fazbear would strongarm him to figure out Sol Sol's schematics and upload the code they wanted in Lunar in the first place now that they owned his rights.
Do I think he's working hand-in-hand with President? It's possible. He could very well be good at acting the "overworked and underpaid" consultant role meanwhile getting paid big by her. On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if he really is innocent and President's Monty saw an opportunity to install ARK in them after promising help to C-Dog with his deadlines
Now my biggest question: IS Mister Winters the one in President's pocket, or another executive? President has to have at least one "in" into the company, it would make sense for it to be someone high up that can move pieces for things to happen

I got to see a whole new side of Carmeβ¦π«’β¨οΈ
edit: I was typing this up literally right when todayβs episode dropped. Lol. Lmao
I love thinking about infected carme but I also loooove imposter tropes.
Carme starts showing symptoms but his cognitive shift is subtle. He does not lose it immediately, he does not snarl and growl and hissβhe still talks to moon, engages him in the process of finding a cure, but then carme starts βforgettingβ things. He is quiet when he would usually laugh, his vocabulary suffers, he does not acknowledge memories that he and moon share.
It does not become obvious to moon until Carme insinuates he wants Moon to open the door. Carme has been gone for days. Heβs been talking with something piloting a corpse.
Moon forgets how long itβs been since Carme has been infected. Unthinkingly, he opens the door. Carme is in his chair, the bite on his arm dark and smeared with oil that hasnβt really dried, the silicone skin has discolored oddly. Moon gets closerβand then Carme jolts forward like heβs new to it, unused to moving and getting control of a vessel heβs never used.
He misses Moonβs cheek by inches. Moon is quick to back away and shut the door but Carme is more desperate to get out. It sacrifices one of its hands to smash the doorβs handle, cracking the plastic shell of carmeβs palm and spraying rotten oil all over the door with the force. It curses Moon, then apologizes as itβs still trying to get the door open, itβs sorry it just wants out it is starving for the first time in itβs life why canβt you understand that. It sounds too much like Carme for Moon to disregard it completely and that is by design, βCarmeβ knows this.
Moon is hurt, tells it not to use Carmeβs voice and that he would never say that. It disagrees and everything goes quiet.
From then on, Moon does not leave that desk. The thing in Carmeβs body does not try to talk to him much. Sometimes, when Moon falls asleep, he is startled awake by banging at the glass window in front of him. There are times when Moon thinks itβs trying to talk but itβs just intelligible syllables, the click of itβs voicebox resetting and shorting out, and the crash of the chair being thrown against the door.
Carme does not snarl and growl and hiss. He coaxes Moon to open the door with a voice that is not his, trying to take advantage of Moonβs memory again. It becomes much quieter when Carmeβs battery runs out, having spent all of its energy trying to break out, more characteristic of the infected Moonβs seen outside. But it still does not snarl and growl and hiss. Itβs quiet for long periods of time, long enough for Moon to forget what is inside, and if it werenβt for the notes he keeps front and center of the desk he would have forgotten who is inside. forget what I said earlier: if the getting infected episode had me stressed then this one had me clutching my face aksjskska
It hit SO MANY good aspects in the genre. Sentient pathogen, warping control from the host, mimicking and adaptation, using the host's skills. It really was like watching Birkin from Resident Evil show glimpses of his humanity trapped under the mutating virus. No wonder their world succumbed so fast if it was the "aware" kind of infection
ANYWAY, the episode! I got my wish of hearing Carme lose composure at least once β granted it was in pain and not emotional but still a win in my book. And then it just kept getting better from there with the infection taking over. So eerie how the algae just knew what to say. Such a tiny little detail like calling yellow when Moon asked for the infection indicator had me kicking my feet: it can problem solve and adapt to an interactive situation. Horrifying, fascinating, think about how it could be a bioweapon in very dangerous hands. No wonder the Haven and Sanctuary wanted the dimension quarantined and isolated. Anyone can be infected and if the host hides their mark, the algae can deceive so many and propagate like that.
Now it was so short-lived but Infected Carme came to deliver. Slashing the reinforced steel door open? The skulking and taunting? The way he crooned Moon? Chills. He's got enough speed and dexterity on a normal day for Dahlia to say it's very unlikely that Carme would walk away losing from a group confrontation, imagine what being boosted by the algae could unlock. If Moon had been in the middle of a memory relapse there is no doubt that it would have been so much worse. Carme would have been forced to witness how his own blades killed Moon whilst being trapped inside his own head. Seen the look of confusion and betrayalβ
And then the first thing he does when getting snapped out is to make sure Moon doesn't get too close until he puts said blades away. Man just had his systems fried with a direct EMP blast and his biggest concern is Moon's safety. CARME, PLEASE.
I'm so incredibly curious how magic will come to play here. Making a bomb of worldwide magnitude will take too many resources for Moon to get unless that bunker has some crazy stuff. Magic is the safer, if incredibly draining, alternative. Sun still needs to recover if he'll help supplement Dahlia for it...
.... which leaves enough time to deal with the issue of the Beast.

They kept it so on the down low neither Council nor Sanctuary intelligence knew about their relationship. Both figured they would never see each other again given how much the two factions avoid the other, so when they were set to meet the Haven/Sanctuary representative they would be working closely together with under the program for the first time, their stunned record-scratch moment was hard enough for Joy and Rust to notice

For all the rollercoaster of emotions Dahlia went through in the episode β gentle and comforting, logical, alert and problem-solver mode, protective with making sure Sun stuck close for the invisibility, plus taking charge with the infected group and provoking Sun into pushing his fire magic limits, then being apologetic after
Absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing so far, will ever top how loud and sharp that "WHAT?!" after calling Carmine at the end went. I knew it was coming and it still got me. The illusion of serenity he prepared for Sun to wake up and recuperate in absolutely cracked in one second aksjskk
The epiphany hit that Night doesn't know the real version of Day saved his life in the long-run. He could have already figured out that it wasn't his Day that wanted to kill him in the tunnels, but he doesn't know about the remote access removal in his ARK program before Mars reset his body. He doesn't know he could've also been killed by Monty's soldiers scrubbing him at a distance if the access hadn't been removed.

Thinking on it more, I'm glad that Day and Night's stumbles as villains was because of President Earth's tampering and not themselves
Cause if those two had ever actually wanted to be villains? There's so much evidence to back up that they would've been terrifying as a duo
Between their brains, obvious technological ingenuity (they built a whole lab with countless advanced tech Mars still can't figure out even after all this time plus cracking interdimensional portal travel on their own), and Day's sweet personality to disarm people, it could've been so much worse for everybody involved

Anyway, episode thoughts! I don't think Carmine will be the death. It's lighting the fire under Moon's ass for sure (and playing very much on the "NEVER separate in a horror scenario or shit goes down" trope), as well as pushing Sun when he comes back. His magic may very well be a viable route now to save the day and he has to buckle up for it. No more second-guessing himself or downplaying his abilities. It's now or Carmine very well doesn't get to go home at all. Poor Dahlia called just to check-in if they're alright and got dropped with "Oh! No, I'm infected right now." Heart-dropping thing to hear in what's SUPPOSED to be a safe bunker lmfao, him hanging up right after is just pure "we-have-to-get-back-NOW-forget-these-strangers" fuel
Lastly, Carme remaining his reasonable and collected self through all of it. Making sure Moon was okay first and grounding him back to them, talking him through the episode, explaining things logically and guiding Moon into what needed to be done. There's no changing what happened, he's infected, but what he can control is how they proceed and manage themselves in the immediate aftermath. and now I itch even more to see him lose composure at some point
