Here’s something very important from Matt Braly’s AMA last night. Gideon was just a normal kid before he found journal 2. He found the book just like Dipper did but at a younger age. Unlike many people have said, Gideon wasn’t just some spoilt, greedy kid, he was completely innocent until he found journal 2. This could have shown how the Journal’s knowledge really is dangerous. Also, with the majority of the fandom hating poor Gideon this could have been some good development (or the closest we would get to) for Gid. Look at how Pacifica went from one of the most unpopular characters to most fans loving her after her development in TGW and NMM. So many fans hate Gideon and I can’t help but feel this would have been so good to see how his character changed, and show us that he’s not all bad.
I’m really upset they deleted this scene (and I have no idea why they did!) all I can say is I really hope Gideon gets some more development when he returns.

look i want to have some grace for gideon bc he’s. 10 years old. and it seems there’s something wrong with him. but i didn’t like that mabel had to just play nice and hold his hand in the finale after he Never learned that “I’m not interested” means I Am Not Interested. and the symbols are not drawn in consistent places in some of the times we see the cipher wheel anyway. so,⬆️
like if he wasn’t going to Actually Learn this was the least he deserved
I think i would like to see an older version of Gideon reformed. Still a little shit with no chill but with more morals and unable to use his cuteness to his advantage anymore. Maybe his reputation in town would make him want to change for the better?
Idk it would be cool to see a 'next summer' story where him and Dipper can talk about the journals without the imminent threat of trying to kill each other. Also Gideon still having a one-sided crush on Mabel but trying to be normal about it now.
