And the way they’ve handled the supposed sexual harassment is ridiculous. Go to the fucking police if you have real evidence. Don’t go around posting it on the internet in an attempt to get everyone to turn on him because that comes across as attention seeking and spiteful.

Honestly, if there was any more proof than links to tumblrs made by people who spend their days and nights trying to convince the world that Jared and Jensen are desperately in love with each other and their wives are beards and their kids aren’t really theirs, I would listen. But honestly, this fandom is SO ruled by hate and shipping wars that unless there is ironclad proof, I’m not going to sit by and let you shit all over a part of this family. 

Just because you had a perfectly pleasant interaction with him doesn’t mean he can’t have treated other people like crap.

Forgive me if all of this has been talked about already, but I just woke up and am seeing the promo pics for the very first time. And I have to say, they kind of make me more confident that this episode truly will feature another twist to the MoC-story, meaning Lucifer’s side of the story.

I’ve been wondering for a while now if maybe Lucifer targeting Sam may have been a distraction tactic to get to him in order to get to Dean, because he knows Dean would move heaven, hell and purgatory to get Sam out and getting Sam back would be a sure fire way to get Dean come to the cage.

All this - as I can hear people wank about this mere thought already - is not to invalidate Sam’s arc as Lucifer’s vessel, but arguably Dean and Lucifer have much more in common now than they used to have and it all goes back to a mark that served as both lock and key that gotten Lucifer locked in the cage and made Dean a prisoner of his own body and mind - and yes I think 10x22 “The Prisoner” may be important that indeed seems to take place in a cage, a prison. As it may focus on Dean and Lucifer as prisoners.

Furthermore I think this alignment of Dean and Lucifer sharing more common ground now is even emphasized by their clothing. Especially in the picture when Lucifer is choking Dean this gets apparent as even their hair style as well as the green jacket is similar.

And to take it one step further, I find it mightily interesting to pay attention to the lighting here, because in the promo pictures Dean is bathed in blue-white light. Exactly like Lucifer was lit in Sam’s visions and how commonly angelic grace looks or connections to “heaven” are portrayed.

Given all that I am wondering if Lucifer will make Dean an offer, maybe the same one he made Sam before - only him and Dean share a knowledge about the Darkness Sam and him didn’t. I don’t think Dean would say yes, but then again… Maybe to get Sam and Dean in the cage wasn’t solely Lucifer’s scheme, but also Michael’s. Getting both their vessels in there to free them to take on the Darkness together.

And of course one would offer up himself for their lives, trade places so Sam and Dean can leave - he’s always happy to bleed for the Winchesters after all. ;____;

While typing up a reply I just kind of had to think about the mid season finale and then somehow felt like Lucifer may in the upcoming episodes provide yet another story (his side of the story) to the MoC story. Of course it wasn’t really explored or addressed in the episode, but when Sam and Lucifer talked about the Darkness - and of course Lucifer was playing Sam, I’m well aware of that - I kind of felt like he did not remember to have born the mark and lived with it for some reason.

Therefore I wonder if the plot twist along the way will entail that actually Death had it wrong and only believed or knew what God wanted him to believe or know (as Amara said her brother acts). Meaning: What if the upcoming episode will give the MoC-story yet another twist in which it is revealed that Lucifer did not bear the mark and that it also wasn’t him, who transferred it to Abel? I have no idea how this would work or who it could have been instead, I am just kicking ideas back and forth in my head. And one thing I feel must have to come up rather sooner than later is exactly how the Darkness/the mark affected Lucifer, if he bore it or if it didn’t at all, because the story was wrong.

Good catch. You mentioning this moment actually reminds of something I meant to write down - unrelated to what you are pointing out - at the time, but somehow had completely forgotten about. So I’ll just add those to this post now, hope you don’t mind.

I decided to gif the scene, because I find Castiel’s reaction so very wonderful and telling here and also kind of fitting to the questions you pose, because in my opinion Cas’ facial expressions and headmotion may well be a sort of slight “curse up to Heaven” and with that mabe subconsciously even addressing God and saying “What the hell were you thinking when thinking this one was ready to have children?” His head motion towards the sky is in so far also interesting as it is re-visited in the ending of the episode when Amara is walking through the streets and looks up to the sky, which I personally felt was her simultaneously letting her brother creation wash over her, but also “think of” him and therefore looking upwards.

Keeping that in mind I find your thought about this being a nod to God as a father of the universe, who wasn’t ready rather appicable, because the very least he did not think his creation and children were his responsibility when things started going sideways. He left notes threwn across the earth, but still decided to up and leave. Given Amara’s words in the mid season finale about her brother feeling so threatened by her that she would make a more perfect creation than him, his behaviour begs the question if maybe he thought so too. But instead of owning up to his shortcomings and making things right he disappeared, so I guess one could definitely wonder if God was ready to be a father.

With John and Lucifer I see this a little differently. I think John was ready to be  a father while he had Mary as a partner and strong shoulder. It was only after her death that he was too traumatized by the events and too obsessed with revege that he was unable to provide what Sam and Dean would have needed the most: safety and a father, who’d make them feel that way. And of course in the end just like God he abandoned his kids and placed responsibility in the hands of his oldest kid while not taking any of that up on himself, which is comparable to God deciding to turn Lucifer into the keeper of the Darkness so to speak by giving him the mark.

Lucifer as the father of demons is even more different than John and God to me in this way, because while I truly believe despite all his fuck ups and wrong doings that John loved his children and that God loved his creation, Lucifer creating demons as far as we know was never framed as an act of “love”. He created them but felt repulsed by them and betrayed them in a way that I feel is somewhat different to John and God.

In general though I absolutely think this line was meant to have the audience ask exactly the questions you asked too.

What I had been meaning to write about back then in relation to this moment also circles around father figures, but goes into a completely different direction, because I have been wondering if the fact that this all is paralleled by a talk show in which someone actually does not know if this kid his kid, it poses the question if God was truly the creator/father ot if it was someone/something else. Even more than that though I personally have wondered before, especially since time and again it’s been emphasized that Dean is much more like his mother and little like his father, if John is truly Dean’s “only” father.

sorry it took me a moment to get back to you.

Maybe I am misremembering here, but I think we have seen Meg talk to Lucifer via blood call like in 1x11 “Scarecrow” as well as the demon in the end of 2x09 “Croatoan”. It may have been they called Azazel, but I somehow filed that under blood call. But like I said my memory is spotty, so I could be wrong there.

And yeah, of course they wouldn’t commit such a massacre to get a chat with Luci - that’s what I meant with of course those possibilties not really being possibilties ;), then again, basically the same thing did Amara trying to reach out and get reaction out of God and that visual callback imo was pretty deliberate the way she flung the priest in front of the altar.

That being said, I agree Lucifer showed a great deal of effort to get Sam to come back to him. Really, the way Sam is subjected to Lucifer’s manipulations and Dean to Amara’s control is all kinds of horrifying and the parallel is mean to be read that way. The same way that Sam and Lucifer is not meant to be understood just remotely truly caring or “romantic”, is Amara’s and Dean’s relationship framed as healthy. Bot of these connections are framed as the furthest thing from being good.

I do feel horrible for Sam, because he had wanted and hoped so bad for God to truly be reaching out to him, without a doubt also because he subconsciously may have sort of craved “divine deliverance” for having been exposed to demon blood as a baby? I don’t know, it really must be horrible for him.

This is probably nothing anyone would want to think about now, but since I am an awful person I will mention it anyway. How much time do you think has passed in hell time during that ritual and how long do you think may it take Dean and Cas to find a way to get Sam back? Days account to months in the cage. And what kind of scars will he bring back this time around when he emerges? I have been thinking from the end of S10 that we may be heading into the Abel side of the story. That Sam would have to face Lucifer as part of the theme of “you can’t outrun” your seemed inevitable. The truly tragic thing is that Sam found his line and never wanted to give himself over to Lucifer again, yet now he is subjected to his torture yet again.

I can only hope Dean and Cas find him quickly, so we won’t have a S7 reloaded with Sam on the brink of losing his mind to Lucifer a second time around.

And yes, that one single tear, when he realized he’s been played and worse the way Lucifer words it, that’s what really must be painful on top of everything else because the way he says it it sounds like “he would never even consider you, because you’re not worth it”:
