i’m speechless
This is how the system of white supremacy operates. The media is used 2 create stereotypes like blk on blk crime. They need black men to fill jail cells for the Prison Indstrial complex
You know what? I’m tired of this. I do not know what exactly they are waiting for. I mean our government comes up with “reasons” to invade other countries, such as Syria, like their government is allegedly violating human rights or something like that. but… I mean for other countries, they do not even have to go deep to bomb the fuck out of this place, they can just look at our media. And this has been happening to people of color since the media has existed.
I’ll never forget this 👇🏾
Did a research project on this in undergrad and the results are extremely alarming because it’s not just in imagery, it’s in language used even in the law making process and within our own communities in a completely different way than expected.
This ☝🏿
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here

The binturong of silliness
this baby tawny frogmouth is hungry hungry hungry! hes taking it all!
finding a new doctor. applying for jobs. searching for apartments. messaging used car dealers. getting your health insurance to do their job. getting a pharmacy to do their job. getting the dmv to accept the documents they told you to bring. just listing things they probably make you do in hell
A WASP FLEW INTO MY MOUTH! And I was so brave about it! I couldn't panic because I am allergic and would have died literally. So I just exhaled really strongly and blew it right back out again! To anyone nearby it probably looked like I simply exhale live wasps. Like that's a thing I can just do. There's that.
Afterward I glanced to my partner who was like, "what the fuck?" And then I nonchalantly reminded them of all of the places I keep epi pens.
I can still feel all of its flailing legs in my mouth. Cannot recommend. You'd think the wings of a live wasp, in your mouth, would be the worst part but you'd be wrong. It's the legs.
What if this is my villain origin story? What if I wake up with wasp powers like Michelle Pfeiffer in the Batman movie? 🐈⬛
I hated it also, your friend is valid.
It was probably also a terrible experience for the wasp
What if silence is in fact a sound, but because its a universal sound we just adapted to it and dont notice it anymore
I actually just wrote a paper on this!!
The short of it is, yes, that's exactly what happens. There's no such thing as pure silence outside of a vacuum (and inside a vacuum you'd be dead). So basically your ears are constantly adapting to the noise threshold of your surroundings and slowly ignoring it. If you were in a perfectly silent room (anechoic chambers are cool!) you would actually start to hear the sound of existing!
Isn't there some room full of sound baffling foam or something that absorbs all ambient noise and most people go mad from the isolation because they start to hear things like their own circulatory system and their heartbeat pounding in their ears?
Ah, there it is. Orfield Labratories in Minnesota. They say the longest anyone's been able to stay inside was 45 minutes, as they could hear their lungs expanding and their digestive system working overtime.

If you're writing 18th century dialogue, this website lets you search words and phrases to double-check whether they were in use & meant what you intend. It doesn't include every period-accurate use of a word/phrase, but it certainly helped me separate genuine 18th century grammar from the vague tangle of 💬old-fashioned fancy-speak💬 I've internalized from TV and video games.
Other websites that let you do this:
Johnson's Dictionary Online (thanks @yellowbelliedtoad!) – 1755 and 1773
Green's Dictionary of Slang – 1300s to today
A Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue – 1788
Feraud's Dictionaire critique de la langue française – 1778
A dictionary of the English and Italian languages by Giuseppe Baretti is a bilingual dictionary from 1790!
