Some autistics have an odd view on what a special interest within autism actually is, and it's a very damaging take.
Special interests within autism can cause clinically significant impairments in one's life.
Special interests can borderline obsession and addiction and compulsion. They can even run inline with addiction, obsession, and compulsion.
Special interests aren't always knowing everything about it, researching it, and infodumping, or engaging in it in multiple ways.
Sometimes autistics don't know much about them, some will not research them, some autistics won't infodump about them. Some autistics only every engage in their interest in a very restricted and fixated way, a very limited way.
I honestly think some autistics get special interests and hobbies mixed up. You are allowed to have hobbies you are very passionate about, love to talk about, and have a vast knowledge on them. There are many allistics in this world who have hobbies just like that and with such an intensity.
Special interests for autistics aren't always cute and quirky and fun. They can be damaging and impairing, and cause stress/anxiety. They can be inappropriate, dangerous, or bad.

Hi! What was your theory about the Center Mass part at Paleo?
I'm not sure if it really is a "theory" but I always believed that the "my tattoos only hurt when meaning fades" line in Center mass is about Tyler's tattoos (I mean, obviously, he wrote the song), but more specifically about the ones with a religious meaning. He has at least 2 crosses on his arms, a bible quote (the Roman numerals?) and since we aren't even too sure of their meaning, probably more.
He definitely regrets it. Tyler isn't the "good Christian man" half of the fans are trying to paint him as, and his family probably believes. Obviously, he has been struggling with faith since he was a teen, maybe even before.
For me, and this is only speculation, of course, he tried desperately to cling to religion, as a way of fitting in and making others (especially his family) happy. It is pretty obvious how religious his parents are, he was raised this way, but he doesn't believe in it. More like, he tried gaslighting himself into believing it, but now, after so many years, he simply gave up.
I think that's why he doesn't take his shirt off on stage anymore. The meaning of most of his tattoos is gone. He doesn't want to show them anymore, he probably doesn't want to see them himself, he doesn't want to get reminded again. This cruel reminder that he will never be what his parents want him to be. That he will never believe in what he was raised to believe. That he will never be enough even if his life seems picture perfect to outsiders.
Tyler tried for so long making himself a picture perfect Christian man, but he always failed. He desperately tried to cling onto it but he gave up after so many years. And honestly? Good for him. He seems to be more distant from his family now, and that's a net positive. He's a grown up, he deserves to be real with himself and stop pretending. He deserves to cut what's hurting him in this life.
