can you recommend good yuri that arent about high school girls?
ofc ^_^! i think youll also be able to find some just by tag searching in some sites made for anime/manga tracking as well, but here are some that i really like. bolded are my absolute faves:
how do we relationship - college yuri. this has been recommended like 1000 times before but its so good. warnings for sexual assault in one of the much later chapters, i wish i remembered the exact one but i do remember it was somewhere 100+ chapters in... i do think it was well handled personally but i understand not wanting to read it for this reason! so i thought id give a warning ahead of time. there is like sex in here also lol. cant remember any other warnings at the top of my head but if i remember ill edit this and add later
pink candy kiss - really love the way that this one touches up on age, and how its never too late to discover yourself. i really love the way that all the characters in this are written, theres so much depth to the everyones characters + the emotions they are going through and takara is such an endearing mc. i think it was implied ema's (the love interest) mother was abusive but im not sure if i remember any specific graphic scenes related to her being abused... figured it was worth mentioning though!
she is beautiful (in all lower case). havent finished this one yet but super intriguing sci-fi yuri imo! they dont say it outright but its pretty clear there is discussion of eugenics here that is very heavily plot relevant
the ends of a dream (more well known as yume no hashibashi). - warning for suicide. one of my absolute favorites, i think this was super well written and tragic
run away with me girl - i love battans work and this was the first of hers i read + also one of my first yuri manga! has domestic violence/abuse, nudity, and a sex scene
fatale game - ongoing yuri manga by battan as well and also a fave ongoing yuri for me atm! a manga about manga and i love it, the dynamic between the main character and the love interest is SO interesting. i cant wait to see where it goes. no warnings for this one as far as i can tell atm?
goodbye, my rose garden - historical yuri! one of my fave historical yuri :) warning for suicide (very plot relevant). wont spoil but even though this was short i looove hooow this was written, and the art was also super beautiful
asagi iro no saudade - one of my absolute fave ongoing yuri atm, the mc in this is also nonbinary and i really like how them being nonbinary is portrayed in this. warnings for suicide (very plot relevant) and also discussions of past incarceration. this is another manga that is a manga about manga lol and i really love how it talks about it, really good at portraying the ups and downs that comes with being an artist and creating
there is no love upon a wishing star - college yuri. i love love LOVE the amount of drama in this one lol, i really really like messy characters and messy character dynamics and this one was great. the ending also made me super emotional too, and i loved the epilogue... the art is also so gorgeous i was totally memorized by it when i was reading it for the first time. watashi no angela is a oneshot by the same author and i loved it as well, though its a lot less grounded and more fantastical than there is no love upon a wishing star. i really loved that aspect of it though, and definitely same sort of depiction of messy emotions in that one too
belladonna no koiboto - no warnings for this one from what i remember, this ones a oneshot but i loved it personally! reminds me a lot of older fairy tales
yoiko no shouzo - ghost yuri... or rather one of them is a ghost and the other is college student. pretty short but i loved it, and the artwork is gorgeous! def rec this one if ur looking for a shorter read but youre not in the mood for a one shot :-]
anata mitai ni - this one actually got serialized recently and im so so excited to see how this develops now that its longer! office yuri and i really love the dynamic between the two main characters, and how their positions basically switched from when they knew each other in highschool vs as adults. no warnings for this one yet as far as i can tell, though theres sex here
ayaka is in love with hiroko - i really love sal jiangs work and this was the first one i read from her. takes place in an office setting and i think the way it was written was sooo sweet and i love the dynamic between ayaka and hiroko and how their relationship develops over time. seeing them finally get together was SO satisfying. i believe this one also has a live action too that i plan to watch at some point! just a warning for sex in this one, this ones just sweet
ohana holoholo - both main characters are bisexual in this one im prettyyy sure? which i think is cool! the art in this one is gorgeous and i really like the discussion of motherhood in this one (the li is a mom), i really love mom characters who arent really motherly at all. very slice of life-y which i love
if i remember any other warnings for these that im forgetting atm (my memory is honestly not that greatest especially for things that i havent read in awhile lol) ill add them... and if youve read any of them and feel i missed any please feel free to tell me! also to my mutuals feel free to rec any adult yuri you like as well :-]
also this reminded me i had a list of adult yuri i was actually meaning to work on and share on my blog at some point that i totally forgot about... so thank you for this ask haha. it helped remind me again
