𝒇𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚.

     ( andrew garfield. cismale. he/him. fake happy & paramore. ) well, would you look at GRAYSON BIRLEY this year? i’ve heard they’re a full THIRTY-THREE years young, and an EDITOR at BIRLEY PUBLISHING. you can always find them sipping an OLD FASHIONED while they SAIL. when dusk falls, you can usually find them heading home to QUEENS by CAR.

          “  FAIR  ENOUGH  .  PAINT  NIGHT  IS  ESSENTIAL  .  ”  with  a  job  as  demanding  as  hers  ,  she  just  needs  a  hobby  or  two  to  just  unwind  .  paint  night  is  that  hobby  for  her  .  and  she  always  appreciates  grayson  being  able  to  join  her  for  it  .  “  speaking  of  andie  ,  is  she  doing  okay  with  all  of  this  ?  it  probably  can’t  be  easy  for  her  to  sit  in  those  meetings  .  ”  and  for  that  ,  alejandra  is  grateful  she  isn’t  the  eldest  member  of  her  family  .  “  i  think  the  worry  is  coming  from  the  fact  that  we’re  getting  absolutely  nowhere  with  it  ,  y’know  ?  ”  she  takes  a  sip  of  her  drink  before  moving  to  sit  on  the  stool  placed  in  front  of  her  easel  .  “  it  doesn’t  help  that  we  feel  even  more  vulnerable  now  than  before  .  ”

She rolls her eyes upon realising that Grayson has been roped into the role of ball boy. Taking her eyes of Isaac for a moment  to turn and see Grayson coming in she smiles and reciprocates the hug. She gives him a look that lets him know that Isaac has been driving her mad all day. “I swear, sometimes I miss the terrible two’s. I give it around five minutes before that ball ends up back in the neighbours yard again so I suggest you hide it.” she says with a small laugh before turning back into the kitchen. “You want a drink?” she asks as every now and then her eyes flick through the window to check on Isaac.

          aiyana give a small smile towards the barista as they handed her back her change. the only thing she had been craving was the toasted almond latte from this particular coffee shop for some reason. she put back in her air-pods, only to immediately take them out when she heard the familiar static like voices. unsure if it had to do with her … banshee senses or if someone had actually said something. “ - did you say something?” saying out loud to the person next to her, eyes flickering around quizzically. 

“ OF ALL THE THINGS I’D LIKE TO PUT IN YOUR MOUTH, words is not one of them, ”   harry laughs, finding himself funny.   “ how about another round, but both drinks are for me ? ”   there’s a reason he doesn’t typically entertain humans as friends :   they can never hang when it comes to getting drunk. and the last thing harry wants is to carry grayson’s ass back home, knowing all fingers would point in the vampire’s direction if he got hurt. why humans were even on the stupid council was beyond him.

“Isaac. Stop throwing the ball in the neighbour’s garden, they’ll keep it for themselves if you do it again,” she warned her son after the third time he’d purposefully thrown it over the fence in-between the two properties. The truth was her neighbours were really nice; an elderly couple who were always friendly and forgiving each time she went around to collect the ball. This time she didn’t hurry round to get it, just for Isaac to throw it back again and laugh each time. She kept an eye on her son through the window as he kept himself entertained by jumping in puddles of water that had surfaced on the lawn. She reached for her cup of coffee and brought it to her lips to take a sip, only to be disappointed about it being cold again.  Upon hearing a knock at the front door, she called out, “It’s open, come in.” Her eyes were still focused on Isaac through the kitchen window.

“Right!” she nodded as she agreed with him. “Recovering seems to take longer each year I get older.” Not that she thought she was old but she definitely wasn’t able to drink and seemingly skip the hangover the next day anymore. 

Shaking her head at the embarrassing thought of even more people seeing her dance like that again. “I’m sorry, that was a one time thing. You’ve missed your chance.”

OBVIOUSLY HE WANTED HIM TO FAIL. that’s the point of the game. what good is a game that harry can’t immediately win ?   “ if you wanted to buy me a drink, man, you could’ve just done so, ”   he smirks, giving the human male a light pat on the back.   “ apparently i need to catch up. ”

          “  YOU  COULD  BE  SUPER  busy  at  your  publishing  job  and  have  to  work  the  occasional  late  night  ,  y’know  ?  ”  she  jests  before  taking  a  sip  of  her  drink  .  “  oh  definitely  .  you  and  i  are  probably  more  aware  of  the  implications  of  her  death  than  the  general  population  .  ”  it’s  not  a  good  look  when  one  of  the  oldest  vampires  in  the  city  dies  .  just  like  that  .  “  i’m  doing  as  well  as  i  can  .  it’s  cassius  i’m  worried  about  .  he  took  two  weeks  off  from  work  which  is  definitely  understandable  .  what  about  you  ?  ”

          it’s  funny  that  the  word  DRY CLEANERS  come  out  from  his  mouth  ,   woman  blinks  in  surprise  at  him  and  tilts  her  head  to  the  side  .    “  dry  cleaners ?  ”   she  asks  with  a  soft  chuckle  ,   not  at  all  making  fun  of  him  ,   just  amused  that  someone  still  uses  them  .    “  i  will  not  have  someone  getting  sick  just   because  i  am  cold  -  ”   estelle  insists  ,   but  she  reaches  out  for  his  jacket  and  it  feels  warm  and :    “  but  it  is  a  bit  chilly  ,   isn’t  it ?  ”   her  nose  crinkles  ,   and  she’ll  take  the  jacket  and  wrap  it  around  herself  .    “  if  we  had  a  blanket   it  would  be  much  easier  to  share  …  ”   she  mutters  ,   almost  annoyed  that  she’s  out  here  without  her  jacket  .     “  but  yes  i  am  ,   estelle  ,   essie  ,   elle  -  i’ve  been  called  everything  at  least  once  .   well  ,   grayson  ,   i’m  sorry  to  be  a  burden  to  you  today  .  ”    a  pause  ,    she  studies  him  -  she  hadn’t  forgotten  him  either  ,   which  made  this  all  the  better  .    “  was  it  a  good  night ?  the  rest  of  your  new  years  ,   i  mean  .  ”  

“ ALRIGHT, ”   HARRY ROLLS HIS EYES, letting out a small huff to hold back a laugh.   “ i change my mind, no playing this game with you. clearly you’re too smashed to handle another drink, anyway. ”

“It took me a day or two to recover, I slept a lot and had a bit of help from ben and jerry.” She loved to eat ice-cream after drinking although it was a strange hangover cure. “Apparently a little after you left I ended up dancing like a chicken, so won’t be doing colourful shots again any time soon.”

        her  grip  on  his  sleeve  doesn’t  loosen  ,   she  leaning  against  a  brick  wall  in  an  alley  ,   breathing  softly  .   she  holds  onto  him  like  he’s  the  only  thing  keeping  her  standing  .    “  merde  ,   shit  ,   sorry  .   i  think  i  wrinkled  your  shirt  -  ”   nose  crinkles  as  she  hyper  fixates  on  something  else  ,   anything  else  ,   which  meant  the  edge  of  his  sleeve  .   she  doesn’t  even  notice  that  he’s  offering  anything  to  her  before  eyes  flash  up  with  surprise  ,   and  she’s  always  putting  people  first  .    “  wait  ,   no  .   you’ll  get  cold  ,   this  sweater  is  fine  -  ”    so  long  as  she  doesn’t  spend  more  than  five  minutes  out  here  .    “  much  better  .   i  can  -  breathe  more  easily  .  ”   and  head  tilts  ,   she  gazes  at  him  with  recognition  written  all  over  her  face  .    “  i  met  you  at  the  new  year’s  gala  ,   didn’t  i ?  ”  

       her  hand  will  find  itself  searching  for  something  to  hold  ,   grasping  onto  the  sleeve  of  his  shirt  ,   and  avoiding  eye  contact  with  the  people  surrounding  them  with  her  head  tucked  down  .    “  thank  you  -  ”   she  mutters  quietly  ,   accent  unusually  thick  in  her  panic  ,   ducking  behind  him  .    “  i  just  -  ”   and  the  blonde  lets  the  two  of  them  get  out  of  the  building  before  continuing  ,   taking  a  deep  breath  .    “  need  to  get  away  from  all  those  people  .  ”   something’s  there  in  that  building  ,   and  she  doesn’t  know  what  ,   but  she  does  know  she  needs  to  get  away  before  she’s  revealed  in  the  general  public  .  

         (  @duskstart​ !  )     her  power  had  never  …  been  this  strong  ,   the  death  of  rosamie lynn  shouldn’t  be  triggering  her  power  like  this  ,   but  -  today  felt  like  an  over  lasting  headache  .   she  could  throw up  if  she’s  here  any  longer  ,   and  yes  estelle  could  control  the  shuck  -  but  at  what  costs  to  her  body ?    ‘  i  need  to  get  out  of  here  -  ’   she  mutters  ,   grabbing  onto  the  sleeve  of  the  person  next  to  her  ,   only  doing  it  out  of  a  need  for  help  .    ‘  please  .  ’

          “  THANKS  FOR  COMING  OVER  ,  ”  alejandra  smiles  at  her  friend  .  with  everything  that’s  happened  ,  a  night  to  decompress  is  exactly  what  they  need  .  she  finishes  garnishing  their  drinks  and  makes  her  way  over  to  the  living  room  .  “  an  old  fashioned  for  you  ,  ”  presents  the  drink  to  grayson  before  moving  to  take  a  seat  .  “  that  was  certainly  one  hell  of  a  way  to  start  the  new  year  .  ”
