People want addiction and drug use to be a black and white simple question with straightforward universal answers so badly, but it's an extremely complex issue with tons of individual nuance and any attempt to deny that is straight up dehumanizing addicts.

In this AU Wally Darling has narcolepsy and is generally sick from nearly dying from an overdose of the amnesia drugs. He actually flatlined for a few minutes. He has weaker muscles and fell so often that they gave him a rollater. He has nightmares and episodes of sleep paralysis. He has constant brain fog and memory issues. He's functional at the very least but very sick.
