May You Always Find Water and Shade

The Armand we are seeing in 2025 has had three years since Louis; and, quite possibly for the first time in his entire existence, he is free from obligation; from cleaning up everyone's messes and being in charge. He is messy and unkempt, a complete 180 from Dubai. He doesn't have to perform for anyone, and he is *lost*. He is finding who he is, and allowing himself to reflect on the damage he has done to those he cares for. Let's think of the people he has apologized to...

Lestat: the man who showed him how things could he different from how he had been running the coven

Daniel: the man he loves; the man he sees so much of himself in (a room with no walls, no floor and no ceiling, and infinite nothing), the only vampire he has Made

And Louis: the man he manipulated, then spent nearly 80 years cleaning up after. The one he arguably did the most damage to, and maybe did the most damage to him.

Now, we see very little of him. Maybe 40, 45 minutes the whole season? Which sucks, I know; but this is because this season was not about Armand; its about Lestat. He only appears when it is directly relevant to Lestats story. We start with him in AA in Ohio- where he finds Alex and puts his strings on him. I've seen a lot of complaints and confusion as to why he was there. Structure, i think; he has spent his whole existence around rules, and strict structures he had to adhere to. It is something.... not comforting, but familiar. He has probably tried a lot of different programs and clubs in those years.

Next, he is making his "armends". First to Daniel; which begins the reconciliation between them. Though it did not go well at the time. He is interrupted, derided and told to kill himself crudely. Followed by Lestat. He is interrupted, derided and told to kill himself. And an offer; come see the show. Where he is publicly humiliated, and his shame out on display. He storms out in a rage, and followed by a sympathetic Daniel.

Instead of focusing back on Lestat, we continue to follow the pair; where they have an intense conversation which ends in a confession of love. Which further entwined Daniel to him; and pushes their relationship forward this season. That is his Companion, his true Companion. What he has been aching for his whole life, and did not know was even possible until 50 years ago. And despite DM being real, and them finally reconciling; the pain and humiliation he has experienced in his attempts to reconcile and move on with his life has clearly worn on him. And his secondary objective begins to come into play; to stop the Great Conversion.

And thus, it comes to a head (pun absolutely intended). He returns Lestats humiliation in kind; exposing him and Gabriella's true ties, and in doing so also attempts to stop the concert, and Gabriella's plotting. And, of course, and romantic walk in the park and subsequent beheading.

Which leads to the finale, and his... admittedly psychotic interaction with Louis. He's hit his breaking point by the time he has gotten to his words for Louis. But, how else was this truly going to go? Louis; whose last actions and words ensured Armands demise at meeting on even footing? He would not be able to speak with Louis civilly, or speak at all, if he did not uave the upper hand. Am I saying Armand wasn't batshit insane for how he did it? Did Louis deserve how this reunion occurred? Absoluteoy not, it was peak unhinged and insane Armand.

I am sure Armand was not expecting a sincere apology, not really. Not without forcing it, which was the intent. But then, something happened. Someone, quite possibly for the first time in his long, painful existence, finally acknowledged that pain. Mourned for what happened to him, instead of mocking him for it. A sincere acknowledgement of the abuse, slavery, and torture he suffered, and constantly had to push through and endure. Something he probably didn't even know he needed. Louis is the one to finally see him, and allow that moment of true weakness. He knows they weren't meant to be; not would he have with Lestat. He needs gentleness, a soft love. And it was beautiful to see it finally be spoken to him.

Armand is pain. He is love. And he does not know where the line between the two ends. He was never *shown* the line. His two prominent loves prior to now are Lestat and Louis, which.... well.

His arc was finding himself, or trying to, through others. And finding it; with Daniel, and finally being freed from his past.

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, but it is what I got from this season, the little bit we actually see of him. Even with Lestat not giving a shit about him, he clocked Armands need for closure, and love.
